WARNING: Frame by frame dissection. Lots 'o' pictures, little real insight. You've been warned!
00:06
In this shot from a camera named TANAGA, to the far right, you can see something poking through the clouds.
Look familiar? That's a Covenant Cruiser. Specifically, it's the Prophet of Regret's cruiser from the end of the level Metropolis from Halo 2. In fact, this is a view of that same scene when the cruiser jumped to slipspace, destroying New Mombasa.
00:08
A quick shot of what appears to be a Human Entry Vehicle (HEV), a pod primarily used by Orbital Drop Shock Troopers (ODST) in the Halo Universe.
00:09
Another view of the cruiser, this time more towards the center of the frame.
The distinct curvature of the nose can be seen. Also seen in the shot is a message: SCAN>> POP: 0 EVAC COMPLETE
This indicates that the citizens have already fled the city, leaving the population at 0.
00:12
From a camera named LUMUMBA, we see an electronic billboard telling citizens to evacuate the "City of New Mombasa," leaving no doubt as to what city we are seeing.
00:14
The view switches to a camera named MBARAKI. The view is pointed upwards between 2 buildings. Up until this time, the Superintendent icon at the top right has been neutral looking, though the Bungie.net avatar with the same look is called Surprised.
00:15
A message then pops up at the bottom of the screen: THRESHOLD TRIGGER.
At this point the SI icon changes. It becomes sad looking, or Moody going by the B.net avatar.
The SI has seen something that has triggered its authorization protocol as can be seen in the next 2 messages that pop up.
00:18
The first is AUTH INQ
I believe this mean Authorization Inquest or something equivalent, especially since the next message is this:
00:19
AUTH NEGATIVE or Authorization Negative. Apparently it has seen something that it does not have clearance for. It then zooms in on a group of unidentifiable objects falling from the sky. It specifically focuses in on a handful of them that appear to be veering away from the main pack.
00:22
We switch to yet another camera, this one called SIDIRIYAI, as we watch the slipspace jump happen, creating an EMP pulse that causes an EMP TRIP DETECT message.
00:23
In another brief shot from a camera named MAKADARA, we see a group of what appear to be HEVs rapidly descending through the atmosphere.
The one closest to the camera looks different than the other ones. It could be just the lighting, but it appears gray instead of black and seems to have color accents while the others do not.
And the other vehicles are almost assuredly HEVs, as can be seen in this shot:
It looks exactly like the HEVs from Halo 2.
00:25
Yet another quick shot where we see the HEVs streaking in front of what seems to be a zoomed in shot from the TANAGA camera.
00:26-00:30
The screen goes black, presumably from a system shutdown due to the EMP pulse.
00:30-00:36
The system kicks back on and goes through some of its public addresses.
00:37-00:43
The system begins a complete reinitialization. The SI at the top right is now Sad.
00:48
A single object, presumably an HEV, can be seen streaking down to earth in the top right-middle.
00:52
This same object slams into the MBARAKI camera.
00:53-00:59
Credits can be seen as if they were messages in the computer system. Two lines are repeated through much of this:
RUNNING SUBROUTINE VERGIL
WARNING: DATA LEAK IN LEVEL 9!
After a 3 frame burst of
something, the teaser part ends.
The standard Xbox 360 tag ends the video, with just the quickest flash of the computer system coming back in the last frame, though nothing of note is seen.
One last thing: Anyone know who Maddie is?
