You remember when I drove you to the bar you got stood up in. When you asked what kind of music I listen to. Marvin and Al all the fucking way.

Team Snipers is extremely popular here on the GAF boards, as it is other places. It was popular in Halo 2 in terms of games played and population? Is it Team Slayer in population? No, but it's the next best thing. People like it, and it's enjoyable. Why does a playlist have to revolve around the Halo 'sandbox' to be a created playlist? Here's a question: Is Team SWAT? No. Yet we get that playlist because it was popular in Halo 2 and during Double EXP (for the gametype). Give me a difference between adding a playlist such as SWAT, but not Snipers because it's "niche".

Having Team Snipers for Double EXP Weekends does not fulfill a player's long-term enjoyment (for the game-type itself). Give us Team Snipers. Stop dealing and adding playlists like Head 2 Head.

That's actually my favorite shot in the scene. I'm like, "Was that a bump? I thought I felt a bump. Ah, must have been nothing."

Wasn't there a moment where our team had the two elephants on our side, but nothing was happening, so we drove over to get the flag with surprisingly little resistance and took it back to the elephants.

P.S. After looking through your photobucket Eazy, I'll keep this little GIF.

Haha, go for it.

Sorry for bailing on that oh-so-fun match. The internet must've known I wasn't having fun.

Ah, a pure classic with a betrayal and explosive death at the end. I need to start getting some more stories. (goes to search his recent games).

Also, I understand the trueskill now, I was mostly looking at the 65% win ratio needed in the playlist, and after my last game, I got it to 66%, so maybe if I win a couple more games in a row and get more wins then I lose, then I should get my 50 then. Also, with AU2, it said its resetting xp, so if the roll out with it and I get my 50 in TS lets say the day it comes out, will I have to re-get the 600 xp, just to finally get the general as my symbol for customs or with I still be a brig.

Your overall EXP is not being reset. The EXP you have now will stay with you post-AU2.

BUT, each playlist will now have it's own EXP, so to speak, that will make you level up (starting from Appretince). The EXP you earn in each playlist, however, will still be put into your overall EXP bucket.

To get a General in, say, Social Slayer, you'll need to win 600 games IN Social Slayer. But at the same time, that 600EXP you earned in Social Slayer will be added to your overall EXP.

The only way to see the golden General we all know now will be to see your Service Record or to play customs.

ok, so if I do manage to get a 50 in TS after the AU, then I will get the general in my service record. I have one more question and then we can get off of the subject, if you get a general in SS or any social playlist, are they having that be official as your new rank in your service record or what, like being a level 2, but playing and getting 600 xp in social slayer and having the general you got in social slayer (while you still don't have a 50) be your ranking that shows up in you service record. If thats the case, doesn't it take away from trying to get a 50 in anything?

The rank shown in your service record will be exactly the same as it is now - the highest rank you've achieved in ranked games. If your highest rank is 50, it'll show a general.

The playlist ranks are based on experience only, and have NOTHING TO DO WITH YOUR SERVICE RECORD RANK. If you play enough SS to get a General there, you'll see a General there - but nowhere else.

thx, thats what I was hoping, I didn't want to get into a game and see everyone with generals in their service record and I go to look at their highest skill only to see they're a level 5 or something. Now just to get my 50 and I'll be happy.

Went online to check out my stats from last night only to find this on Bungie's site:
# ShinAmano
# This player has not played Halo 3 online.

After 2100+ games of Halo 3 I am sad :(

edit: it's back :D

I think you missed my second post about this when I responded to xxxjuicesxxx, but I totally agree there should be no Head-to-Head or Team SWAT. Ideally we would have none of these novelty playlists, but I'd be happy taking Team Snipers if they took away Team SWAT.

Yup, that was the a spawn or two later, same flag. Almost as much fun as running over Dirtbag!

I think he's doing it on purpose, and frankly, I'm a bit insulted.

I usually have the College Football thread, the Soccer thread, this thread, and PoliGAF up at the same time, but you never see me berating you guys about how over how the Big 12 sucks and whatever.

Just kidding Ghaleon!

Also, and I promise I'll stop going off-topic now, but I totally owned Armubaba in the college football thread (on the first page) and I wish you'd all go see it.

Rumor has it that Ryan Payton, late of Kojima Productions, has landed a pretty impressive job here in the states.

Our very reliable sources tell us that Payton has been hired by Microsoft to be the creative director on the upcoming, and still not dead, Peter Jackson Halo game.

The news, very reliable news, comes weeks after we broke the news that Gearbox Director of Technology Corrinne Yu had been hired by Microsoft Game Studios to be Principle Engine Architect for Microsoft's Halo Franchise Team.

Rumor had it at the time that Yu and her husband, Kenneth Scott were both joining Microsoft Game Studios. Scott is an art director at id Software.

Payton, assistant producer on Metal Gear Solid 4, has been credited with spearheading a more Western approach to controls for Metal Gear Solid 4, making the game far more approachable and much tighter than the previous installment. He also helped warm the MGS4 team up to more Western developed games like Gears of War as well.

I like how a rumor of Ryan getting a job at Microsoft all but confirms a Luke/Ryan podcast :lol
Have they ever had a
soon to be ex-
Ensemble employee on the Bungie podcast?

All I know is that with this addition to the Peter Jackson project, that it better be an amazing game when it comes out or they finally show us something about it.

Halo Gear Solid 4 Confirmed, now with 40 hours worth of cut scenes and 1 hour of gameplay

I am pretty sure not. Have they ever had any non-bungie people on there even just someone from Microsoft, I can't recall.

I'm not Domino, but I'll have to do. They had Nelson, if I'm not mistaken - but apart from that and Sean O'Connery (sic), I'd say that he's the only exception.

Obviously a Luke/Ryan podcast would never happen, but I'd guess that even a Frank/Ryan podcast is a bit of a stretch. If there's any truth to this rumor, it looks like Ryan's going to have his hands full very soon and I'm pretty sure Frank already does.

Yeah, Bungie barely has enough stuff to talk about on their podcasts, without the guests. What could Frank/Ryan talk about? I don't see Frank ever doing anything like that, again. Nor Ryan, really, at this point.

This is just...twisted.

wow I totally didn't see Ryan Payton coming to MS to work on the Peter Jackson game. The source says that he's to be creative director. that's weird, I was kind of hoping this game is pretty deep in development. We'll see if all of this is true or not.

I was checking twitter today and noticed that Major Nelson has this to say yesterday:

"What did you think of the Marc Whitten inteview on my show yesterday?and the fact he addressed the mythical Sept. 25th date."

Referring to a podcast he had posted. It caught my eye because of the date. I can't get to it form work, so I figured I would ask any of you here if you had listened to it and if it was related to Halo 3 in anyway.

Wait. Let me get this. He used the word "mythical" to describe the one year anniversary of Halo 3? Heh. That might get the rumor mills churning.

Hmm. I think voc is onto something.

*gloat* I finally know what it's like to hear the announcer say "Perfection" at the end of a match :D

*rant* And is Social Slayer code for "Team Sniper Playlist" or something?

The Major Nelson thing is nothing guys, just finished listening, they were rubbishing the rumours of a "wishlist" that some guy on a forum made up and the news sites published. They confirmed that the new xbox experiance won't be released on that day.

To be honest, it has nothing to do with any Halo rumours or anything.

I don't think that's the kind of "myth" we were hoping for.

Man, I just hope we hear about new stuff for Halo 3 soon, and get new stuff for Halo 3 just as soon, because the online experience has been getting very stale.

Ha.

Eggs Theory is dead, btw. Long live Oml3t (my original tag of 3 years returns, but forever and always this time, I promise)

IIRC, didn't Luke say during Frank's departure that Frank would be on a "podcast of his own"?

AU2 + September MM Update is what you need. One more week (at the most) and Halo 4 will have launched. ;)

I'm itching for Assembly. It played so good at PAX. Not sure if I'm more excited for that or the new playlist overhaul.

Thank you. Good Lord in Heaven I have no idea why you changed it in the first place but I'm glad it's back.

To be honest, what I want most is AU2, and to have the Legendary maps become free.

I'm hoping that in two weeks I'll be feeling like Halo 3 had a beautiful re-launch, not like it had a few minor tweaks and I got more info about a map I won't be able to play for a year thanks to MS.

After shutting down the second tower on "The Covenant", you can hop into the phantom. It takes you out past the invisible barrier, then becomes translucent, only to appear when taking hit damage, like from an incendiary grenade.
