Anyone else find it kinda disturbing that Bungie still doesn't know how they're going to release the new map pack (which, at this point looks to be only 2 maps, rite)?

What? Did I miss something? Last I knew the signs pointed to six new maps in the pipe, with three usually being released.

That's one interpretation based on the Achievements. I for one would be very surprised if six maps up and appeared; I'm counting on Assembly, Moonbase Alpha and that big outdoor map (Sandbox?).

well I have been banned for a while and out of the loop...but as far as I know we have Assembly (Purple Reign) and Moonbase Alpha.

either way, let's get to a distribution plan and release this shit!

I'm sure the adults know exactly whats happening with the next DLC.

Had a horrible time playing halo last night. Won like three games in 2 hours. People quitting, people betraying, -20 k/d dudes, and networking problems were abundant for me a another dude last night. Sometimes I don't know why I still play this game...

On the bright side I think we got matched up with someone that was up to shinanigans. Every 2 miinutes someone from the other team would leave the match, and it was red/yellow bar the entire game. By the end of the game there was only one left and we won...

They aren't publicly dated yet, but I doubt Bungie is sitting around the studio scratching their collective heads over how to get content out the door.

Well, who can know for sure? The achievements hint that six maps are in production at least - assuming each skull achievement represents one map.

Gah, I wish developers were able to be more open about what they're working on. Bloody marketing.

I tend to rachet down my expectations, FWIW.

don't forget, were getting some new variants of snowbound and epitaph minus shield doors, and no elephant sandtrap, not really new maps but there not like regular forged ones either.

I am the opposite of looking forward to these things.

I'm really not sure if there going to work out or not, but the only way to tell is to try them out. It will prevent camping but I know Bungie had a reason to put them in, oh well, we'll see how they turn out.

eh, but being good at Halo is all about adapting to situations, dealing with what you're...dealt. I can handle the odd camper or two.

When I heard 6 maps, my first thought was that they may have done quick ports of Halo 2 maps to be released for free. I doubt they would do that, but I've said in the past that I'd be completely happy with all the remaining Halo 2 maps moved into Halo 3 being geometrically identical to Halo 2 but ported to whatever is necessary in Halo 3 just to get them to run. This would likely involve a ton of things (add the soft ceiling, set up and recalculate the lighting, collision volumes, or whatever) but would be far less work than re-doing a map from scratch.

At one point Sketch asked if we would be interested in that, but clearly stated that he had no say in the matter. I'd be interested :-)

I think it will be harder to camp because of not having shield doors, but yeah, you just have to adapt and there still keeping the original variants, it just will matter which one you like better or if you hate both.

True. To be honest though, I'd be just as interested in knowing what those skulls refer to even if they completely discounted them as new maps.

Internet users getting over the top expectations from rumours and snippets of leaked info is a symptom of what I think is a counter productive marketing culture, though. Publishers want to control information to maximise impact from conventional advertisement methods - fair enough. But who is influenced by conventional advertisements? Not the self confessed industry hardcore. We speculate, we assume and we extrapolate, and most of the time we're wrong. We get our hopes up and are then disappointed because the reveal isn't as good as what we came up with in our imaginations. If we had clearer information earlier, there wouldn't be disappointment... and there's nothing to stop them running their conventional advertisement campaigns when it makes sense to.

Eh, the shield doors I'll be sad to see go, but those elephants were never anything more than a nuisance, imo.

I was going to make a Star Wars reference to Obi Wan having the high ground but then remembered that is also the name of the map so shit could get confusing either way this is one of my favorite little grenade tricks on the map.

Beautiful! I'm going to try that out. Last night I got an overkill + extermination on ranked Team Slayer that I'm dying to share. To be honest it was a grenade stick where the dude got stuck then ran into his other 3 teammates near some fusion coils. But still...

It's actually Halo 4: Dark Planetoid Rising (The Fourth Installment in Bungie's Epic Trilogy)

dead serious! Coco, go ahead and resurrect the Ascendant Justice "Dark Planetoid Rising" trailer.

This game's gonna be sick!

So I just went to eBay for a wireless 360 controller (need guts to make arcade stick) and I see nothing but dual rapid fire modded controllers for CoD4 and Halo...

Anyone care to fill me in? Are people actually paying $100 to use these?

I haven't heard of these at all either link me one plz, I don't understand how a modded controller could make you shoot a BR faster lulz and we all know the AR is a non issue so I don't know what else it could be for.

Seriously just search 360 controller on ebay...or For the Lazy

Huh. I didn't know that. I'm going to start tapping my trigger quickly instead of holding down the trigger for automatic weapons if it increases accuracy and makes them fire faster. I wonder if I could produce similar results to these rapid fire controllers. I can tap pretty fast :-D

They cant really. The controllers work better for games that don't have such long drawn out shot animations. Halo 3 went crazy with that shit so you couldn't bust out any button combos. It might work with the carbine but how often do you have that weapon?

Also I believe Xbox and 360 controllers work a little differently with the checkstates.

Though my buddy had a doubleshot controller, those things were FUN.

Take a look at the ebay link above. There's a youtube video in the ebay posting that's pretty convincing (and scary if true).

I know I watched it. Don't see what the big deal is. Most of the advantages looked nothing more than just filling in for lack of knowledge. Meaning you can do everything without the controller that you could do with it.

I guess I'm just comparing these to the H2 doubleshot bxr controllers though.

Also I'm talking H3 not the CoD4 video. No one cares about CoD4.

Yeah, sorry that's the one I meant to post. Clearly you can do these things with a regular controller, but probably not as quickly. That's why I said I'm going to start tapping the trigger for things like needler, brute spiker, and even the turret if that's the effect it has on automatic weapons where I'd usually just hold down the trigger. More accuracy and in the case of the turret, it starts firing faster.

Worked the same way in Halo 2.

Yeah, lots of games have more accurate fire when you use bursts instead of just spraying, but I didn't have an example of it in Halo. I'm not too concerned anyway - the spiker is a close range weapon and the needler tracks enemies. For the turret I might start using bursts though.

I am kinda on again off again with pumping the trigger while while using weapons. I sometimes feel like pumping the trigger takes my focus off aiming and then I die so get frustrated although it could just be me making excuses :P

It worked really well in H2 with dual SMGs. It's just decreasing the amount of recoil so that the bullets don't have as much spread. I don't use it that much in H3 because I'm aways packing a BR.

Just pointing out that Urk must be smuggling humans and operating a sweatshop in order to get all that capturing done. No harm done? :)

Agreed. If I don't have a BR the first thing I do is go get one.
