No, I wasn't the only one. :lol If you managed to miss Eazy's angry rant about the balancing of the maps, then you have a problem. :P
Haha, no joke.

There are a number of balance issues that made many of the matches unbearable for the zombies.

Instead of a single starting zombie pit against 11 humans, up the count. Isn't there a way to make the starting zombies scale to the amount of total players? Cause in Bungie's infection modes, there would be around 3 starting zombies in bigger games and 1 or 2 in smaller games.

Turrets are fun and everything, but putting a stationary turret inside the bases leads to unbalanced frustration. Place the turrets in vulnerable locations throughout the map. One could try to defend these spots; they'd have the benefit of an infinitely shooting death machine but would be vulnerable from flanking and other hazards. Another tactic would be to break the turrets off and bring them to a more fortified location. Here they could mow down as many zombies as their ammo count would allow but in the back of their mind they know they can't spam turret rounds and actually have to strategically plan their actions. Zombies can also use the limited ammo count to their advantage by making the wielder waste rounds.

As far as the radar goes, I think it should stay. But it shouldn't be the be-all, end-all radar it was during our first games. If the default radar in 75m, go for the 50m or 25m and make it only detect motion. There is a certain thrill of seeing a bunch of zombies on radar that shouldn't be missed out on.

Friendly fire. Why the fuck wasn't that on? That only makes it possible for teams to sloppily fire grenades, rockets, etc. with no worry of consequences. If the humans decide to bunch up all together then that increases the likelihood of dangerous crossfire; a disadvantage necessary to balance the sides.

Anyone who didn't feel those games/maps could be exploited and totally broke is downright crazy.

"マスターチーフ!同工場の生き物を殺すために、彼のすべてのダウンする必要があります。取る百触手、 20投げ弾を入力し、彼の口からです。幸運を願って、ベースの変わり目で闘う! "

"Master Chief! In order to kill the plant creature, you must take down all of his hundred tentacles, then throw twenty grenades into his mouth. Good luck, on the turn-based combat!"

and if you want the real translation,

"Master Chief! The plant to kill the creatures, all he needs to be down. Tentacles take a hundred, 20 grenade and then his mouth. Good luck, on the turn-based combat "

You can set it to makes 25%, 50% or 75% of players as starting zombies.

I really think if I can get the balance of Bleak House (Scariest Infection Game Ever(tm)) right, it could be good.

Peter Jackson's game to be revealed at TGS, however this is a rumor, so really do take it with a grain of salt, sand, sugar, or whatever you prefer.
Eh, I'd be completely shocked at any validity here.

Internal people at Microsoft confirm that MGS had adopted the policy of releasing two Halo’s during a console’s franchise during the original Xbox lifespan and this is going to continue and expand in this generation, the first will be Halo Wars and the second project that was pulled off at E3 2008 was no other than Peter Jackson’s Halo now rumored to debut at the Tokyo Game Show.
The "second project" (which everyone was guessing was the Superintendent game) was Bungie's work and their work alone. As far as I know, Peter Jackson's Halo project, or "Halo Chronicles," is being worked on by Microsoft and not Bungie. This means that the guys writing this article might not know what the hell they're talking about.

"Unbearable" because it's extremely hard for the zombies to get kills? If it was easier for them to get kills, then the games would last, like, thirty seconds. If more than one zombie started at the beginning of the game, then all that would do would be to accelerate the game. Instead of starting where we did last night, we'd have started four minutes into it. The games would be shorter. Were they too long last night?

Sure, they could be exploited. But they weren't. We're not playing in Matchmaking, we're playing customs with each other. If it gets to the point where it isn't working, we just change things. Like I said last night, we shouldn't not play something because in theory it could not be fun. Due to people taking risks/making mistakes, it's fun. Until that doesn't happen anymore, why should we change it?

Like I stressed before, the problem is that you're wanting it to be easier for the zombies' side, but that's not how Zombies works. If it was easier for the zombies, the games would end quickly and that'd be all there is to it. What makes it fun is hiding out, waiting for someone to do something stupid. Like voc said, the zombie(s) chip away at the humans, until they have a force big enough to start flooding in, in waves.

The first 3 minutes of each game were a downright sleepfest. It was frustrating for the zombies because they had no chance of killing the humans. The only reason they ever amassed a decent enough number to take out the humans was because many on the human side became bored of waiting. Each of those bold words are key ingredients for a broken and less fun gametype.

They matches didn't become fun until ~3 minutes in where the zombies had a fighting chance. It's not fun to sit hunkered down in a base knowing you're in absolutely no danger and it's not fun running into a base know you have absolutely no chance of killing anyone until they get bored enough to leave the base. A game shouldn't revolve around hoping one side becomes bored.

If I had an option to skip the first 3 minutes of boredom and frustration then you know for damn certain I would.

Ok, finished Halo. I enjoyed it except for chapter 8 which was horrible. Now I have some story related questions, because I never finished 1 and haven't played 2. I was mostly lost the entire game.

What was the giant tentacle creature?

Who was the creature that talked to me the whole game? Not Cortana, the other thing.

How exactly were the flood finally destroyed? I know destroying the ark was part of it but what about the fleet attacking earth?

How did the Arbiter make it to earth but Master Chief didn't? We both landed in the same ship.

Whether or not I felt the games of zombies last were balanced really doesnt matter to me... I just wasn't having fun playing them. I personally wouldn't want to play them again. I left early for that reason... I was bored.

This site has zero cred. I give this rumor like a 5-10% chance of being true... only because I think its time this game get revealed, and not that this report is onto anything. I think TGS is the most unlikely place to reveal a game in the halo-verse personally.

You are going to love Bleak House.

I'm getting pissed. For the past few days I've been getting disconnected randomly online. It seems to happen after I kill someone. I checked my Xbox Live connections, they all seem to be in working order. Any ideas how to fix this shit?

It only seems to be happening in Halo 3. Is it Bungle's fault?

Just use the plasma pistol or the needler, guaranteed not to kill anyone. :D

is it me or has the halo community gotten more civil and generally more fun to play with? i have run into a lot of cool random people lately.

i guess maybe the hardocore players that stick around are generally more mature and cool?

Sucks that you didn't play through the first two games. The tentacle creature was the Gravemind, he's the Flood's boss. He was also the one talking to you the entire game. The Gravemind and the Flood had followed Truth, the UNSC and the Elites through the portal and subsquently were destroyed when the Halo ring fired. The ones that had remained on Earth were destroyed when the Elites "glassed" most of Africa (can be seen at the end of the Floodgate level... and they verbally reference this action a few times in that level). And the Chief didn't make it back because the portal closed and split the ship in half.

Well, I guess it's just a matter of taste, then. When I was the Alpha zombie, I enjoyed picking off the stragglers that ended up at the wrong base or were trying to collect weapons before holing up. And then I enjoyed mounting an assault afterwards or swording the guy who was standing too close to the window because the base was too crowded. But I suppose I can't blame you if you thought that it was boring.

Check GhaleonEB's file share for good videos on how to not be able to kill people.
Ghaleon is one of the best people I know at Sandtrap.

Or maybe it only seems that way because I am totally horrible with that map

Thanks for r00ning the entire game for me. :(

Like Cocop said, you would be doing an incredible injustice to yourself by not playing through Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2. Even if you just rented them and pushed through them on Normal, it would make the story infinitely more understandable and interesting.

To extrapolate on what Cocop said...

The Gravemind is the Flood's compound intelligence, a system by which they use to coordinate and direct their spread throughout a given galaxy once they reach a certain "critical mass." In the first Halo game, they attempt this after the Library level you bailed on, but the Master Chief destroys the Halo and the Flood are leveled. In Halo 2, the Marines and the Covenant find another Halo and something similar goes down, except this time there's already a Gravemind (the one you saw in Halo 3) and it wants to leave this different Halo ring.

In Halo 2, it eventually does escape and finds its way on High Charity, the Covenant city-ship which you witnessed crashing into the surface of the Ark. This is also the location of your favorite level in Halo 3 - where the Chief returns to High Charity to take back Cortana from her imprisonment by the Gravemind. This same creature talks to you throughout Halo 3, presumably trying to get you to activate the portal and lead it and all of the Flood back to the Ark. They want to stop the Halo rings from firing at any cost, as one would expect.

Really hoping Title Update 2 launches on 16th as previously announced. I'm really really really looking forward to the new playlists and 8-man Lone Wolves.

Good games, guys. It's nice to play with other GAFers more now that I don't see urk around so much and Daravon is always playing Too Human.

I haven't been playing Too Human; I played Mercs for about a week (it fails) and other stuff. Also I just talked to Urk, he's been on but didn't realize he had himself set to show as always offline the last month or so, and he just thought no one wanted to play with him :lol

Well, mostly because I just want this update to come out before my classes start on the 22nd. :P

Alright, we've got about five people, so that's a start. Anyone that wants to get in some Infection and then other customs, join up!

Me and the misses will be playing Rock Band but we may pop in if Rock Band proves unfun
probably not :P Have fun fellers

i think the daily amount of players has dropped so im guessing all the mlg players have gone back to COD4 and using martydom.

hey, maybe if you stopped stereotyping a whole community based on the actions of a few players, most of which aren't really involved in it, they wouldn't be quite as hostile towards you. all you guys do is make the situation worse.

um, listening to the pros during the tournaments hasn't been helping the "mlgers are good people" fight. if the people the organization is based around can't be decent people why should anyone expect anything better from the community?

http://www.gamevee.com/viewVideo/Halo_3/GeeVee/A_Glorious_Choke_Point/831166

This is more for me than you, but I thought I'd share. Kind of a highlight of why I <3 CTF on Rat's Nest so much - the carnage that takes place in the span between bases can be epic.

Situation: I had extracted the Blue flag across to the Red end of the catwalk, then got downed. My team moved in for the pick up.

Notable moments: the anarchy during the two bubble shield, one regenerator sequence. It's like a rock-paper-scissors of combat in Halo 3, with equipment, turrets, sticky grenades and assassinations in rapid exchange.

I make a cameo as the unfortunate gunner in the disco dancing warthog, and then as the last man standing defending our flag (returning it with one second to spare, no less).

No great play happening or anything, especially on my part. But I liked the carnage, and the ebb and flow as we secured their flag, defended our and then pushed forward again (for what would be the final cap).

what? pretty much anything said on mlg vod has at least been reached by what i've read on gaf, and in this thread, many times. and we can't put microphones next to everybody here while they play. plus trash talk is part of the game on lan, after the tourney nobody's at eachother's throats

not to mention the league actually deals out penalties for that behavior, technicals are issued off camera due to language which results in a loss of host.

"bad kid, get raped, you suck, fucking awful, etc." are part of the lan experience?

there shouldn't be a need for penalties because the issue shouldn't arise. if they want to consider themselves a sport then they might want to realize that after a score people don't tend to say "get pooped on"

mlg isn't immune to the internet fuckwad theory either, no large community is so don't take is personal when someone stereotypes 'em because the majority of them are like that often enough
