I can see your point, but I think most people are just looking at the art style of the map and thinking of Midship. And yes it does share some similarities, but I prefer to think that Assembly plays very uniquely and it should be given some credit for being a completely new map. Also, if I HAD to say that there was a map that inspired Assembly, it would be Derelict.

This being our first covenant map and all the speculation of it being a Midship remake before its reveal, I can see why people are getting this confused with Midship.

So it looks like the chances of seeing Assembly available during September are pretty slim since we don't have a date for release yet. I wonder if we will get one of those pleasant suprises here soon with pics of Spacecamp/Moonbase Alpha or the rumored/speculated Foundry on steroids?

You know, I wonder if these people will look back at themselves ten, maybe even 20 years down the road and say to themselves, "Boy, I feel embarrased just thinking about what I did. I can't believe I was so desperate for that Recon armor."

Probably.

Also, you saw my post a few posts back about you, right?

After watching the GameVideos footage of Assembly, I'm pretty excited about it now... Assembly seems to have borrowed some of the 'feel' from Midship: ramps, two layers, symmetric design, etc. I really really hope that they tweak it properly for Team Doubles, it would make a great addition to the playlist.

lawl! I didn't see that before! I've only talked to Dan a couple of times and I told him I was going to see if I could go to Pax (at the time I told him it wasn't likely as well). Dan's friends list is full, so I can't add him (sadface), and I do want to play some games with him.

He also told me that, if I had said something to him in advance, he would have come out to meet me when I stopped Bungie while up in Seattle. Unfortunately, there was no way I could have contacted him before hand (:[).

Maybe next year, Dan!

OMG, I'm so freaking tired today, ugh. I traveled from 8 A.M. til about 2 A.M. yesterday, was nice to sleep in my own bed though. :lol

The trip was nothing short of amazing, meeting everyone was pretty natural. As I told everyone in my family that asked, PAX (aside from meeting Marty/Jen) was my least favorite thing about the trip. Hanging with you guys at the sports grill, pub, etc. were the highlights for me. Not often you can sit down with a bunch of Halo nerds, have a cheeseburger and discuss the finer details of multiplayer. :lol

Also, Eazy was lying, I didn't dance for the free pass, I wasn't that desperate. :lol Sucks that I had to shell out 30 bucks for something I already had purchased though. :(

There are no words to express my feelings for this post. So I will not even attempt it, for fear of some sort of aneurysm, or other brain related malfunction.

You were there in spirit, Dax.

I think you might be confusing that for what was understood to be cheers for the absence of this terrible beast.

:lol

Count me out for Midship if it does show up.

From what I remember of it, and from what I've seen of Assembly, I'm liking the second much more.

The dream is dead, Blood.

....I'm not a huge fan of Dax's posting style, but enough with this shit.

Excuse me; I meant AS guilty.
Seems like you guys have finally started developing a decent number of groupies. That Asian/Indian gal was all over your guys' balls.

I've heard good
ish
things.

I thought Dax tattled on you for harassing him and got you banned :lol

Don't be so modest Sr. Ram, I've never seen a better salsa than the show you put on at PAX.

There will be room for Midship just like there was room for Lockout after Guardian. It will be a human Midship set in a wearhouse in the middle of an oil rig.

Count me in as long as they replace all the ramps with stairs and throw some awesome geometry up on those walls instead of those boring flat ones. And a basketball hoop!

With steps so you can't bounce any grenades up towards pink room. :lol

As long as they don't change all of Midship's ramps into stairs...

EDIT: Damn you Blueblur.

... And Eazy.

Hey there, don't talk shit about the basketball hoop.

So...

Over the course of an hour or so, Eazy and some of us kept hopping on different stations and eventually changed all of the PAX player models to purple Flight Elites.

It was hilarious in-game.

What I'd really like is Beaver Creek. Of course, I doubt they would bring it back.
This and Sanctuary are the only remakes I will accept.

BTW, there's a Foundry map called Abodes that looks to have a Battle Creek feel to it. Check it out.

Cocopjojo said:
Hell yeah, you managed to capture a screen of it. Needless to say, the Halo GAF presence was felt. There were many a "aww, what the hell is this?" as they saw that they were rockin the flight.

Luke caught me at one point and said something along to line of "We're showing off this brand new beautiful map and you're making it ugly with you retarded pink elites."

:lol

I remember that game. It was 8 or so gaffers on the booth at once playing together. <3

You'd kill one pink Elite .. oh snap, there's another one, oh snap another. It was crazy. :lol

And I think GAF only played one serious game at the booth where it was Blood 1st (beat me by one kill :( ), Me 2nd, Nutter 3rd, Eazy 4th, Dirtbag 5th, Voc or Cocop 6th, and the other two I don't remember.

Wish I could have been in on that game. Alas.

My personal highlight was hanging out in the booth early on day one, watching them set up the two big screens. Then the tech guy hands me the controller and says, okay you're up.

I came in first. A combination of adrenaline from playing on the big screen and the sweet, tasty AR start.

From what you guys played of Assembly, do you have any major complaints (i.e., weapons spawns, stuff like that)? What do you think is the best objective game for it? Worst objective game?

The Grav Hammer.

It should not be there.

With the amount of corners that someone can hide behind and just camp, I see it as a bit...gimmicky.

Ugh, Beaver Creek. Honestly, I'm not sure why I don't like it. Probably because, in Team Doubles in Halo 2, it was the most annoying map. Basically the team that had the rockets and the sniper rifle at the same time won. I think I just generally disliked the layout.

Sanctuary, however... I miss that map so much. Countless hours of Doubles fun. The simplicity of the layout is what made it so interesting, I feel.

You guys should have all picked up needlers. Then you would have had proper pink mayhem.

LOL yea I snuck a double kill in there right at the end. It was on of the few games that had BR starts and was a blast :).

Nah, it should be a shotgun!
Actually liked the choice of hammer to change the play experience from midship a bit... also you can knock people off the level with it :D

Although the map is graced with AR starts, I often found myself getting low on ammunition. I wouldn't mind if they sprinkled some more ARs here and there.

The layout of the map makes it very unique in that certain gametypes that one would usually detest on other maps look to work great on Purple Reign. The two bases make the map perfect for VIP and judging from the segmented nature of the map, territories and land grab are a must. Lastly, the covenant aesthetics scream for a Covies variant with ghosts galore.

Imagine how overpowered the sword would be on the map though. It'd almost be a guaranteed killing frenzy.

Why not throw in some Wraiths and Banshees for good measure?

Ugh. Banshees on small maps. I've just been reminded of Ascension, in a bad way.

What about the folks that painted her up. It looks some of those cortona striping areas would have been a bit hard to reach on her own. :lol

Actually, she said her husband did the painting.

One note about the default set up: I didn't notice any sniper rifle on the map. The upper levels provide for some very long sight lines - at least as long as on say, Guardian. But like Standoff a single sniper rifle could dominate in the right hands because of the visibility in the spans between bases. I was really glad not to run into it.

As for the grav hammer - I never saw anyone get more than one or two kills with it. That center structure is a grenade magnet, and whoever had it kept getting obliterated by frags.

There are times when historical accuracies are important, and times when they can be entirely overlooked in favor of a more personal flair. This would be one of those times.
Way to deflate that one Wu! :lol

The one problem is that people grab the camo and the hammer at the start, then lie in wait for unsuspecting victims. It got a little annoying, maybe one or the other should be removed.
