2) Holy shit! I was far from the first to point it out, and in the thread I made, I even quoted cocopjojo linking to the Bungie.net user who pointed it out.
But still. WOW. :lol

urk said:I like that level. Then again, one of my fondest memories of Halo: CE is a co-op run through the Library. So awesome.
Cortana is one of the best looking levels in the game. Lighting of the Gods.
soldat7 said:I love both levels. Cortana is a beautiful level and the payoff magnificent.
The Library is one of my favorite levels ever in any video game. Never being sure where you are exactly, 343's constant humming, Flood pouring out of every crack and crevice. Being oh-so thankful when the Sentinels show up, finding a shotgun and letting loose...It's exhilarating.

I was host once, true story.Ramirez said:Tried some Snipers, lag in pretty much every game, and most of the games didn't even have a full 8 people and yet we're at yellow and red bars, sigh.
Um, I found what Cortana/Gravemind were saying to you throughout the level (before you rescued Cortana) to be quite entertaining.the disgruntled gamer said:There is NOTHING good about Cortana, that is a FACT and cannot be debated.
Me and Ranger were playing. I was going to invite but you were in games every time I checked.Ramirez said:Tried some Snipers, lag in pretty much every game, and most of the games didn't even have a full 8 people and yet we're at yellow and red bars, sigh.
Yeah, there's nothing better than "story" at the cost of gameplay. I'm sorry, but Bungie should've found a better way to integrate story than slowing me down every 5 minutes so I can listen to gravemind's babblings and Cortana's [useless, because she's fine, as we later find out] pleas for help. I'd suggest an audio tape that I can listen to.Dax01 said:Um, I found what Cortana/Gravemind were saying to you throughout the level (before you rescued Cortana) to be quite entertaining.

There is simply nothing good about Cortana, so let's all just except that and move on.
I played through it with two other players in co-op last night. We had a good time. I do think the level is badly designed, but the Flood themselves are fun to fight, especially in co-op.the disgruntled gamer said:There is NOTHING good about Cortana, that is a FACT and cannot be debated.

Maybe the first time through, but it makes subsequent playthroughs even worse than they would be otherwise.Dax01 said:Um, I found what Cortana/Gravemind were saying to you throughout the level (before you rescued Cortana) to be quite entertaining.
It was saving you from having to play Cortana, you're one of the lucky ones.PatzCU said:Cortana red-ringed my 360, it will never be forgiven.
Has anyone anywhere in a position of authority spoken about this? There has been a definite decline in quality in my Halo 3 Netcode Experience(tm) these past few weeks.Ramirez said:Tried some Snipers, lag in pretty much every game, and most of the games didn't even have a full 8 people and yet we're at yellow and red bars, sigh.
The Library is a very good level; lots of fun.EazyB said:Maybe the first time through, but it makes subsequent playthroughs even worse than they would be otherwise.
I agree with TDG on almost all of those points but I did think the parts of the level that you could actually tell it used to be a Covenant ship.
Still, it's undeniably the worst Halo level since the Library.
I am not debating with you that it isn't a bad level, just that it has some fascinating dialogue.the disgruntled gamer said:Yeah, there's nothing better than "story" at the cost of gameplay. Hell, Cortana makes The Library seem like a great level. Halo 3 in general has better levels than the previous games, but Cortana is the worst level in the series, and one of the worst levels in the history of gaming as far as I'm concerned.EazyB said:Still, it's undeniably the worst Halo level since the Library.
Not true. Library is a great level actually. And although I really like the look of the Cortana level, it's THE worst level of the trilogy. I hate these Flood spiders-snipers, they kill any enjoyment out of it.EazyB said:Still, it's undeniably the worst Halo level since the Library.

That's the problem with the Library, everyone knows it was repetitious, but there are absolutely no sandbox elements in it. The level is absolutely linear, and the landscape consisted of almost no changes in elevation. It was just running around on a flat plane against waves of opponents with no AI in a boring looking level. Spoiler for those that haven't played The Library:szaromir said:I just played through the entire Halo trilogy. What an awesome ride, but Halo 2 has the worst campaign of the three. It just doesn't have the sandbox elements of the other two games and I even prefer visuals of Halo CE.

Yeah, it's a great level. Beautiful in its own way.Son of Godzilla said:Cortana rocks, fuck the haters. It's only ruined by the ghetto checkpoint feature the game runs.
I do realize all of that, it's that shooting Flood never gets old for me. I tend to think of Library as a sort of dedication to first FPS games where all levels were basically like Library, only Library has much better encounters than these old games.EazyB said:That's the problem with the Library, everyone knows it was repetitious, but there are absolutely no sandbox elements in it. The problem with Cortana is, it's the only Halo level where I avoid combat at all costs. And when you avoid combat in Halo, something's terribly wrong.Botolf said:People, The Library was far worse than Cortana. Easily. Cortana may have been frustrating at times with all the Flood forms on the walls and ceilings and whatnot, but this was nothing compared to the sheer dumb repetition found in The Library. Once you've played it for 15 minutes, you've seen the entire level, truly. But you have to play the same areas over and over anyways.
Doom had more interesting level designs, at least they had multiple levels of elevation :lolszaromir said:I do realize all of that, it's that shooting Flood never gets old for me. One of the things that makes the Library so much better than Cortana is that it is a lot more open.Botolf said:People, The Library was far worse than Cortana. Easily. The option to avoid combat isn't always a bad thing.szaromir said:The problem with Cortana is, it's the only Halo level where I avoid combat at all costs. And when you avoid combat in Halo, something's terribly wrong.
Er, not really. And The Library sense of openness was really hollow, the towering halls and everything were meaningless when all you could do was run on the floor and jump onto a steel block here and there.Dax01 said:One of the things that makes the Library so much better than Cortana is that it is a lot more open.
