Hahah look at their next game!

I feel so bad for the other team.

I've been trying for a vehicular manslaughter and I keep ramming people full speed in ghosts and they just bounce off...wtf is that shit!?
Oddly enough I just played the same team. Those guys have no lives and they need to get outside or something (I say that because they handed us our asses over three times over :lol).

http://www.bungie.net/Stats/GameStatsHalo3.aspx?gameid=680575648&player=Pickled Trout

Seriously, however, they were really good. All of them were extremely coordinated, especially for an 8-person team. My crew of randoms had no chance in hell.

I managed to tie them.

Things like this is why social needs to not reward experience. These guys have all played so many games they know they are decent so they party up in Social BTB, a playlist notoriously filled with lower skilled players and pound on them to get that 1 exp each game. Making games incredibly shitty for the people who get matched up against them.

This also happens in Social Slayer and Skirmish way too often.

I've found that a team that is made up largely of one party will typically win over a group of randoms, regardless of the relative ranks of the players. Applies to social and ranked. (And IIRC, social does match based on skill - you just don't see the skill displayed.) It's par for the course in mixed party matchmaking. I find that about half the time I'm on team with a party, and half the time I'm not. It works out.

What's so funny?

It's must suck to be that guy who can't get a 50 and become a General. I'm also laughing because that won't happen to me because I'm already a General. I'm laughing at how he isn't good enough to be a 50 and also that there are 2 of them. Now laugh at me for laughing at them.

They're both 45s, so it seems fairly likely that they just haven't tried to hit General. I know in my case I hit 35 in LW and basically decided that was high enough for me and haven't played it since, even though I had been steadily leveling up, up to that point. I just decided I was happy with two silver stars and didn't wanna make a push to 40 (45... 50).

Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but I doubt it. If they were really trying to hit 50, you'd think one of them would have a skill of at least 46 or 47 in something.

You make a good point but I mean with that many games played it leads me to think that these guys want 50's. If you think you're good enough to get a certain level then I'd think you'd want to achieve it. I was a 45, and I wanted that 50 really badly because I knew that I could do it.

Maybe they don't think they're good enough to get to 50, and are happy enough enjoying the games they play. It is a ridiculous number of games played, but I don't see why anyone's skill level is funny, except possibly 39, 44

, or 49.

Not sure if this is sarcasm or not, but am I the only person here who really doesn't *want* to rank up? My aim with the game - when I have time to play it and friends who want to - isn't to play ranked or get little eagles next to my name. Truth be told I'd far rather have the highest Lieutenant grade than any of those above.

I guess I'm just more competitive than you guys are. Enjoy playing whatever is you guys like to play and let everyone enjoy whatever they wanna play. I like to win. When I lose matches in Halo, I get pissed. Since I got Halo 2, I've always wanted to play against the best people in Halo. The same goes for Halo 3. Thats where my fun is in Halo. Sure the occasional unranked Big Team Battle game is cool and silly things happen and thats all fun and stuff but its more fun to me when I get a shit ton of kills and bust my ass to win matches and come out on top. When I'm jumping around out BR's people of lesser skill or escaping near deaths and getting sniping headshots, I'm having a lot of fun.

I'm not only about that though. I remember fond memories in Halo 2 where I would just ride a warthog around with my friends and do jack shit for hours. I used to love doing that.

Ultimately I think what's funny is that the more you do something the better you get at it. The same goes for Halo. Sure you'll plateau eventually and some people will plateau at higher levels than others. Some people care and some people don't. It matters to me that I put X amount of time into anything and that I'm at a certain level. The same goes for Halo. So, I guess I'm laughing at the fact that he has played as many games as he has and doesn't have a 50. You might be right, maybe he doesn't want a 50, and thats totally cool. Let him do whatever he wants. My initial reaction was to laugh.

I have 2 friends at level 49. We've struggled so hard and they cant get those 50's :lol

I got one but god damn it was hard work!

Same, I'm still a Staff Captain even.... Social BTB and DLC Objective are what I play and both of those are unranked (meaning I don't level up). I get a lot of shit for it in the pre-game lobbies too, some people just don't understand that others are playing for fun rather than rank.

I have no desire to level up either because it's fun hearing Brigadiers and Generals talking shit and then losing :D

I'm convinced that I'm about good enough to get a General if I really put in the effort. Problem is, I really don't care. Games are about fun, not work just to get a stupid medal next to your name in the pregame lobby. To me, it's not worth putting up with the randoms, quitters, whiners, etc that you'll undoubtedly have to play with in your quest to hit an arbitrary number.

And lots of DLC objective, RBTB as well. Those are long games. That's a lot of gaming time.

Yeah, the last few dozen pages seem reasonably legit, but Ramirez is right - there's quite a bit of boosting in there.

You get up into the 60s or 70s, and there are hundreds of 1 minute Swat games. I didn't go much past that.

Ah, I didn't get back far enough to see those. I retract my tenative praise of that guy. :lol

Also: Had a very intense BTB Slayer game on Standoff last night. It was back and forth, and then we pulled ahead by a good 15 or so. But the other team came back near the end, and it was getting closer. We only needed two kills.

The last two kills were spectacular. (Not mine, though.)

http://www.gamevee.com/viewVideo/Halo_3/GeeVee/The_Perfect_Ending/542006

First part of the clip shows just how intense Standoff can be. Crazy stuff. And then: enter the Warthog. It does such a graceful spin....

I love being a Staff Captain and all the ridicule that goes with it. People always make fun of me but I usually dont respond or I tell them to get out of their parent's basement. If you share your 360 with other people (i.e. roomates / friends) you are bound to rack up exp. Besides there has got to be less of us than most other ranks so we are elite in an odd way. I have always been curious how many people live in Halo 3 mediocrity with me as opposed to being Colonels, Brigs, etc..

There are a lot less mentally handicapped people in the world as well; so in a way they are elite IRL.
:P

But really, not only is the ranking system half-broken, but even if it wasn't, making fun of someone's rank
unless it's metroid's colonel
is sad. Chalking some virtual emblem down as a personal achievement is rather pathetic, if one finds to much pride in that, it may be a sign that their failures at life.
At least until I achieve mah life goal of getting a fiddy.

I don't think it's pathetic to be pleased at reaching a rank in Halo. It is can be quite a difficult achievement, for some of us who are not very good at the game. I do think it's pathetic to laugh at people who are worse than you.

I'm going to pick it up after work. I've been calling my comics store every Wed since #2, today they picked up the phone and said "It's finally here!"

Speaking of Uprising, I noticed on Amazon.com that there will be an Uprising Hardcover once the series is completed. I'm thinking about buying it.

Ouch. That's a shame. It would have been nice to read those four issues back to back before the game was released. Hopefully we'll get the next one relatively soon so we have all of the pieces to the puzzle.

I wonder if there will ever be any significant answers to some of the other events which took place between Halo 2 and Halo 3...

(1) How did Guilty Spark end up with the Elites, when he was with Johnson and Keyes at the end of Halo 2 - why would Keyes let the monitor out of her sight for one moment when it knows the supposed location of the Ark (or at least how to get there) and would be a significant advantage? Something must have gone down that we don't know about.

(2) Did the Arbiter and the Elites ever rendezvous at some point immediately after the events of Halo 2? If so, why didn't the Arbiter seemingly know about High Charity and that it had fallen completely to the Flood, as he discovers during the events of Halo 3?

(3) How did Keyes, Johnson and the Arbiter get back to Earth? How did they explain the Covenant civil war to the UNSC when they arrived - like why they were working with the Arbiter and the Elites?

(4) How did Rtas Vadum become shipmaster and what were the events around that?

A lot of unanswered questions in just that short period of time. It'll be cool to see how they're handled, if they ever are actually handled.

I have a feeling they're not going to answer any of those. All we'll find out is what happens to these two losers that we've been following down on Earth, and how the Chief escapes the Dreadnought. I'd love to be proven wrong, but... the first two comics, while cool, were uneventful.

I'm gonna use my lunch break right now to go pick up #3.

I like the thoughtful, articulated arguing that is going on in this post. Maybe Standoff is shitty!

I'm not sure what is going on, but a few minutes ago, I was playing Halo 3. I decided to log off for a bit, and now I can't log in, it keeps saying my password is invalid, but I remember it clearly. :(

Standoff actually has the spawning issue pretty much under control.

Most other maps on the other hand...

Shit like that happens occasionally. Funny story - On two separate occasions, I booted up my xbox only for it to tell me that I had zero profiles on my HD and that my GT didnt exist. I turned it off, let it chill for a few minutes and then booted it up and all was well. Technology is a funny thing.

Similar thing happened to me. None of my profiles would show up occasionally and sometimes mine would pop up but wouldn't have any saves attached to it or achievements. :lol

Then my HDD died and I lost all my saves permanently :-l
Technology is not funny at all.

Yeah, it hasn't been hacked or anything, the xbox.com login works. Guess Xbox Live is being weird.

Except for Snipers.

And yeah, there are other maps (Foundry, High Ground, Narrows, etc) whose spawns are waaaaaaaaaaay fucking worse. Standoff just sucks in TS while starting with only ARs.

All the spawn issues on (any of the maps) are because of a simple change Bungie did going from Halo 2 to 3.

In Halo 2, they were based on actual location of the enemy/players, hence people could spawn camp in some maps. But this also meant that people could use strategy to clear a base knowing no one will spawn in the damn base you just cleared. However in 3, the spawns are based on whether if you or your team mate were killed in a particular place, which imo throws off everything. This makes it so random at times, that you want to break your controller in half.

Which makes spawns in smaller, more symmetrical maps (like the Pit) really, really predictable.

Did you do that on purpose? If so, may Bungie find some excuse to ban you. You had a good 2v2 going...

Not me dude...

Also standoff spawns are broken. Being spawned outside way too often, needs more weighting on inside the base. Really nothing you can do against a warthog shooting at you right off the spawn with a AR or BR. Just leads to frustrating deaths where you feel sort of ripped off.

I'd rather have shitty spawns than spawn campers.
