And Eazy: that was seriously amazing.
Thanks, I'd expected it to be received with maybe a few giggles (as I intended it to be) but the reaction has been surprisingly awesome. I would say it's inspired me to make more but Valhalla is the only map that I'd ever bother doing it for. :P

EazyB: how long did it take you to build that in Boom Blox??? Nice work, btw!
I probably wasted a good 8-10 hours on it. It was my first (and only) attempt with the editing tools so there was a lot of trail and error involved.

I think the Warthog run in Halo CE is slightly more difficult than the Warthog run in Halo 3 if only because of the fact that the Warthog in Halo CE is harder to control.

Edit: What was Alex Seropian's role in Halo CE?

Isn't he co-founder of Bungie? Lol.

To the dudes I was just playing with right now... Sorry about the disconnect. My cable modem keep resetting itself for some reason. It always seems to happen during the fucking summer. I've been dropped out of like 5 games today.

Anyone notice this? Halo 3 reclaimed its rightful position!

1. Halo 3
2. Call of Duty 4
3. GTA IV
4. Gears of War
5. Guitar Hero III
6. Rock Band
7. Too Human Demo
8. Battlefield: Bad Company
9. Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2
10. FIFA 08

Major changes to the Halo 3 Online experience

Gawd I hope they explain that soon. My imagination is running wild.
I really hope they'd let us browse custom games. I'd repurchase Halo 3 if they could somehow do that.

Yep, that's why I am wondering. Jason Jones was project lead, so what was Alex doing?

Its hard work running two studios (traveling to LA to help Bungie West with Oni and taking away all their snacks), and keeping a company afloat.

Wow, apparently Neighbor is back on FB, Str8 still needs a 4th, Makeo is a free agent, and Walshy is now on Instinct. This was said by a forum manager so I think this is the real deal. Neighbor has been going back and forth between FB and Str8 lol, did they offer him even more money?

nobody - not the players or gilbert arenas - offered anybody any money to join final boss. that was made up. but snipedown's on str8 now, walshy on instinct

Yeah that's really what I'm thinking is gonna happen. That or a server list of some sort.

That's becaue standard server browsers don't work, and you aren't very observant if you think that they have been working. Step back and think about it. How many times have you looked a server list in a game, and couldn't find a fast server, with open slots, that let you play a game you want? How many times have you hit "join" and then been told that the server was full? How about if the host quits - who do you migrate to? What if doesn't want to play that game? What if the host is losing, and boots you to make things easier? And how many times have you gone into a game, thinking it was one type or map config, and then found out that it had been altered in an unpleasant way?

To put it in perspective of Halo - how many times has some jackass come into your forge session you forgot to close and screwed up hours of your work?

Now, before you say, "But, Achronos, my friends won't do that to me" remember that I'm talking about a server browser used for general users to join. You already essentially have one for your friends list... and their friends list too, using the friends of friends feature. Adding in anonymous custom game searching makes the above common place, where right now it is just your friends messing with you.

Server browsers are not the solution. Matchmaking playlists are really the best compromise for anonymous game gathering. Maybe for future games we make we'll try something different or alter our approach. But for now, this is the best we have in terms of game matching.

I don't see why one can't just make a "Private Custom Game" option (like the one the currently exists) and a "Public Custom Game" ala Gears of War. If you don't want randoms to be able to join your custom game, make it friends or invite only. As for not being able to join custom games in the first place, I mean, sure it does suck trying to get into a server that turns out to be full by the time you get to it, but it's not like it happens all the time, and really, nobody's forcing you to use the feature in the first place. Some sort of public custom game browsing is better than nothing, am I right?

I promise you, all of you would bitch and moan non-stop about the behavior of people in the custom games, and the ability to get in a good custom game.
Yup. And think of the crazy options that the host can control, from spawn points to weapon starts to power up locations to player traits. If we complain about the Matchmaking settings now, holy shit we'd have high ol' time searching what the community cooked up. And that's before we get into player behavior, or the advantage the host (and game type/map creator) would have over everyone else.

No thanks.

Anything the community makes is better than VIP Covies

But seriously, load the map after the veto countdown.
But it loads the map to ensure that everyone has it and it isn't on a damaged portion of the disc etc. ever see a map pop up then disappear again?

It would suck if you had the veto countdown, then it tried to load the map, failed then you got a shit gametype map combo and you were not afforded the opportunity to veto if you want. I want a "Vote for" button to skip the veto counter if 50%+1 want to play the map and don't want to wait for veto countdown. :lol

That'd be cool. Like a yes/no and if you don't vote it defaults to yes.

Our GAF group currently holds the record for quickest Multi-Flag game on Rat's Nest.
as far as I know

http://www.bungie.net/Stats/GameStatsHalo3.aspx?gameid=636134184&player=Oml3t

For Valhalla, our record is 2:30min, I believe, and for Standoff (Team Objective), it's 2:04min.

Let's beat these records! :D
You know what to do with this.

Also, I find it fascinating how quickly one's skill can diminish if they don't play the game for an extended period of time. For instance, there's this gamer who goes by the latino name of Ramirez who was quite skilled at Halo 3. Yet deprived for merely two weeks from the videogame yielded startling results. Once a great player, he had withered away to a mere shadow of his former self.
It was embarassing.

I was very hit and miss tonight. :(

I just had the worst night of halo ever.

My auto-aim ceased to exist

Took like 6 shots to get a kill

Grenades were all magnetized to me

and I got the worst matchups in history.

It's weird how like I can tell in these games I'm going to do bad its like the game didn't load up right cause it doesn't feel right....I dunno guess an unexplainable mystery.

I've been forcing Ranked BTB on my party of dudes recently, to much complaining about searching for 10 minutes. The population is still around 5,000, which is way better than it was in May. And the gametypes are so much better than Big Team Social, it makes it worthwhile.

The only really bad thing about it is that almost every game is barely playable due to horrific lag. If I leave Prefer Good Connection on, we just won't get a match. With it off, it's like we're being matched up with the worst hosts in Halo. Also, Big Team Slayer games are intolerable when your BR doesn't work, but no-one ever vetoes them :( I can't believe it's weighted at 40%, it's ridiculous.

It worries me that the rank graph looks almost exactly the same as it did before all the changes. Almost everyone is below rank 10, and there's only a smattering of players around 35 (where our party is). Unless the ranks even out, I don't think the playlist is going to work with a population that size.

Is anyone else playing RBTB? How's it going for you?

about the same as ya,

finding a game on any setting takes ages.

Once in game its lag, lag, lag

I dont remember halo 2 BTB being this bad 2bh.

Tell me about it. Finding a game even when playing RBTB by yourself takes forever. And then it takes at least 6 BR shots to kill them because of lag? This needs to be fixed.

Mine never works. Doesn't matter which playlist I choose. :'(
