Urk, I don't think that it is SI-related. The SI's artwork is way too different. I think we may be looking at an entirely different project here.

Maybe. But for whatever reason, the curious mention of "Death Angle/Angel 108" seems to indication some link.

And I'd also point out that while the Superintendent's avatar itself is somewhat more comical then what we've seen in the Halo universe, the background imagery - the coded text, angular lines, and color scheme - all seems to fit quite snuggly with what we've become accustomed to seeing from a Halo universe AI.

Indeed. I can think of three possibilities:

1) Bungie is messing with us, and the SI stuff is unrelated to Halo. They're just using the Halo motif.

2) SI is related to the Halo universe somehow.

3) Bungie is making multiple announcements - thus the mention of both announcements and changes to the Halo online experience in the last update. The teaser page is combining the two, unrelated, elements.

I agree that superintendent could be Halo related. The images of the Superintendent we've seen so far is just teaser / viral stuff and may not represent what the game actually looks like. I said this a long time ago, that the superintendent looks like a simplified version of a monitor, like Penitent Tangent or Guilty Spark, and monitors are caretakers of Halo installations. Caretaker is a synonym of superintendent.

The bolded words all sound like descriptions of a monitor to me.
 
Yeah, the more I think of it the more I can't help but wonder why anyone would be working on Halo 3 after the game shipped apart from downloadable content - like new maps. It's obviously campaign-centric, and despite him actually stating that it was for Halo 3 - which could be a point of confusion for him - it would be WAY too early for them to be recording dialogue for Halo 4, something which is typically done at the end of the game's development cycle. Also, if there is a Halo 4 being planned, whatever its title might actually be, it would likely be following the Chief from the end of Halo 3 and there are no Marines there.

I'm guessing that this is a campaign expansion (maybe three missions or somethign) and to take it a step further, I wouldn't be surprised if this was available at cost as DLC - AND/OR - if this Halo "Blue" game is, in fact, Halo 3, with all of the new maps and a handful of new campaign missions - possibly even new permutations as well - that would make even more sense. Both the DLC and the disc itself could launch.

The real question for me is: How would it work with the fiction and the game's mechanics?

Well, it could potentially work in between levels where there are heavy seams, like at the end of Tsavo Highway or between The Ark and The Covenant - levels which don't spill into each other readily. Throwing three campaign missions in between two levels which maybe display the fall of the Covenant or some other aspect of the campaign which could have been fleshed out more would be awesome. Then, there's also the potential use of Elites - which could essentially be a small series of side-missions following a group of SpecOp Elites and using the Halo engine to do so.

Sorry for my out-loud thinking and the potential it might have for raising expectations, but there has to be some reason they're working on campaign AFTER the fact, right?
 
I guess it's possible they could just be doing a cutscene that comes with a new Halo 3 map pack to be sold on store shelves, the way they did had some extra stuff, including a cutscene, packed in with that Halo 2 map pack.

That's pretty much the definition of "supplemental"
 
For clarity, we should keep all this speculation in the other thread. We really don't know if this has anything to do with Halo 3 and it's confusing to try and follow forking fucking conversations. And yeah, that's an alliterative Triple Kill, bitches.

With the grenades lying on the ground, they really do not need frag grenades as a spawn item.

I like Snowbound, so I think "Snowbound's 'HC Slayer'" should be renamed Team Slayer. Too hard to change the name, right? :P

This seems the most likely. It would come with all the halo map packs and the next one.

I'm just trying not to get disappointed here, so I'm not going to hype anything up.

Bungie just changed the weapon layout on Narrows a few weeks ago, like what they did to Snowbound months back. But they don't have HC in front of Narrows. Why no 'HC' in front of the name? Snowbound got the HC. I'd say Narrows is more HC than HC Snowbound, which isn't very HC at all.

I figure the reason for that is because if it was a news post, not everyone might read it, but this way, everyone who has visited B.net will know something is/was up.

It's also possible they had a redesigned site ready to go live with information pages about whatever it was they were going to announce and now they have to go and remove all that stuff.

The announcement was on for tomorrow morning until late today. They did what they could, but it's been cancelled.

What's up Halo 3 thread... I was banned for a month (dunno why). Sucks about the announcement. I've been totally hooked on Battlefield: Bad Company... haven't even tried the new Cold Storage map. The BFBC disc simply hasn't left my 360 :lol

They were going to do it at (or during) the MS Conference as was hinted in the podcast but that must've been delayed during the week between Bungie Day and the 14th. It was instead moved 2 days ahead for whatever reason and the countdown was put up. Then barely 12 hours away from the announcement MS decides it's still not the right time. Fuckin crazy shit.

was cold storage ever added to general play lists? it isn't showing up in the playlist sections on bungie.net, has anyone ran into it in non-frozen treats matchmaking?

I am anxious though, because even though MS are big meanies and we didn't get to see Bungie's new game, I am looking foward to seeing what "major changes to the Halo 3 online experience" will be.
