Of course, they speculate it's about a new Halo game. Someone needs to mention the Superintendent thingy to them.

I really hope people aren't actually speculating that the Superintendent does not have to do with the Halo universe. :P

Where do you guys get 3 month Live cards from? Know anywhere cheap?

Can't believe they won't let me download Cold Storage on Silver. How cheap. I'd buy a card, but I literally couldn't find a 3 month one today.

I bet my flight helmet that the superintendent is not part of the Halo universe.

I'm not entirely sure this will work, but try making a new Silver, and get the free 1 month Gold. Download the map with that account, and it should work on your other accounts.... I think.

:lol I don't know, with every single site out there reporting Bungie is going to reveal a Halo title... it seems odd to me that they would announce another Halo game so soon, but I'll gladly take another Halo title. :p (Halo Wars doesn't cut it)

Either way, I'm sure it'll be awesome :D

What, really? I thought you could access anything in marketplace with Silver, you just couldn't play online games with people?

Pretty un-exciting Update, as is to be expected the week of Bungie Day.

:lol @ people who think Luke makes every part of the game. Maybe I have no clue what Luke actually does at Bungie, but I was always under the impression that Luke couldn't ruin the BR if he tried.
Well then you'd be wrong, because when was the BR ruined? AFTER LUKE WAS HIRED AT BUNGIE!

needs more purple! :lol

I guess that's a shot from multiplayer? I can picture the colors being this way for team identification.

Nice avatar BTW, I'm a big fan of the avatar cross-over.

:lol Yeah, by that logic, it should be Luke made the BR better since the Halo 3 Beta's BR wasn't all that great and then it got better at launch, after Luke was hired, Ha! LUKE FIXED THE BR! :P

Nope, Cold Storage is blocked like demos are for Silver users. Demos are only blocked for a week though.

Pretty silly of MS to give out a 'free' map that can't be downloaded for a week. Oh, and creating new accounts doesn't work, it doesn't give the free Gold months anymore.

I wonder what these Major changes to the Halo 3 MP online might be?

Giving me my own playlist to create?:D

Customs appearing in matchmaking in a server list? Making 360s into dedicated servers?

Oooo the possibilities!

Edit: I'm glad to see they are still supporting H3 with big changes, despite new announcements and changes at Bungie HQ.

Luke Noobified the BR, Confirmed!

Something to ponder though, the pistol in Halo:CE and the BR with combo's in Halo 2, to me were noobified weapons that anyone could potentially use and own others with (as long as you had host) So it was very logical that they made the pistol and BR behave as they do now in Halo 3; yet we have people who think otherwise. I Remember someone said last year just after halo 3 came out, that Bungie had noobified the BR in halo 3 by incorporating luck for noobies just like me. (i think it was thekad). From that day forward, in my mind 80% of all MLG players(all who think like this) have become idiots. Seriously incorporating luck in a game? WTF?

I still haven't given up on a Marathon XBL-esque downloadable Survival mode for Halo 3. Random maps, score based, legendary difficulty and skulls :D

That would be so awesome.

It's probably not going to happen because it's almost like an entirely new game and I'm pretty sure that Halo 3 is missing the hooks that'd be necessary to insert such a mode post release.

Actually I think each 360 gives you three one-month new accounts..

Just created a silver on mine, and it gave me a month of Gold:D .

Edit: Dax and XSX - starting to go beyond normal internet love

It was very hard to pull off a doubleshot or quadshot...The BR was the most skill necessary weapon in H2. Do the pros that play smash bros. have no skill because they use button combos to pull off moves? Do I not have skill in Super Street Fighter 2 for SNES because I can pull off moves with precision and none of my friends no longer want to play in my home-hosted tournaments? Quick finger dexterity and timing is a skill whether you want to argue it or not.

By removing these skills from the BR it has become MORE noobified than before.

Yes they noobified it into all weapons are able to kill all weapons pretty much because they have to satisfy the majority of players. After all they are a business trying to make money. This is a problem though because IRL all weapons are not as strong as one another. The BR SHOULD have a supreme advantage over an SMG like it would IRL. (I don't know maybe SMG is better but thats irrelevant, one weapon is definitely better than another weapon)

In fact most of the H2 systems were good. The ranking system was much better, there was actually a difference between a level 10 a level 20 a level 30 a level 40 and a level 50. In H3 theres noobs who can't get to 40 and decent players 40-47 and good players 47 and up, with general errors regarding people who have better ISP's , different attitudes and the such.

The H2 weapon system was good some weapons are better than others its a fact of life.

And no luck does not equal a good game. All rules should be clearly established (A 4-shot kill EQUALS 4 shots resulting in a kill, NOT 5 or 6 shots)

...Whatever I forget.

Both of those sound awesome, Halo 3 was originally said to have a customs matchmaking (not sure what to call it, mind isn't working right now)

So the BR is not more powerfull than the other weapons? At Close range, the SMG in Halo 2 would decimate anyone even if he had the BR with all those button combos and double shots. In Halo 3, the AR decimates the BR at close range just like it should. Just because you can pull of the double shot doesnt make you a more skillfull person. People accused me of double shots in Halo 2 pretty damn regularly, however I had no idea even how to pull off such a feat. So why is ok to have these button combo's and glitches in the game and be considered Fairplay? That is like saying I can use the warlock jump glitch and get out of the map and shoot people from there, however its not my fault all the other people who can not pull this off are noobs. If you as a player are pulling off something the game orginally did not allow or shouldnt be allowing. Then it is not fairplay, plain and simple. So yes I am happy that they "nerfed" the BR, allowing noobs like myself to easily use.

Agreed.

And juice, at its core, Halo 3 is a video game that shouldn't have anything to do with real-life situations. Sure there are some elements of Halo 3 that utilize real-life scenarios (bullet travel), but that doesn't mean other elements of the game should follow suit.

Haha I just decided to leave it alone Nutter - not worth the effort.

Edit: As in I agree with Nutter. Loved the BR in Halo 2, but I can accept the changes they made to it in Halo 3 after hearing why they made those changes. Doesn't mean I don't get pissed when a 4shot doesn't count.

BTW, I recently created a new one month account, but I'm unable to play the Legendary Map Pack unless I sign in on t4ng0 on a second controller and only then does it detect them on my hard drive. Anyway to change this?

NM I'll answer. With your SMG can beat BR in H2. Your button combos doesn't make you a skilled player (I switched to claw which took weeks to get used to so I could AIM and Doubleshot at the same time, if thats not progression of skill as a gamer I don't know what is) and yes if you are playing a game competitively and you do not read up and learn techniques that make you better you are going to fall down in skill in your field regardless of gaming or ANYTHING. You need to learn all you can, and no going out of maps is different. Sure you can do it but its generally regarded as cheating, when Bungie never said anything about button glitches being cheating. MLG says which jumps you can do so thats standardized. With all that it kind of makes it hard to take you serious.

On a side note Tango I think me and you have pretty much the same ideas in Halo.

I don't know about the legendary map thing either. I just signed up for a new account too and it just knows I have all the map packs from when I downloaded them on my Juices account.

Pregame show is on http://www.mlgpro.com/asx/stream_a.asx

My (likely wrong) guess about the major changes is that they aren't in-game stuff (changing BRs, yanking this or that off maps) , they have to do with the stuff around the gameplay. I'm thinking big changes with playlists, and a complete revamp of the ranking system.

Dude, not wanted in the thread. Disturbing pritate stuff in disturbing private messages, please.

Ok I don't get this game.

The second place player is already a 50, yet only got 11 kills? How do you reach 50 so quickly then?

I know Team Doubles, but I meant like skill wise.

Negative Exp Boosted in TD as soon as he got the account. Lets hopefully see a ban?

I don't see why Bungie just doesn't grow a pair and ban anyone with - Total Exp. Just make a note in one of the BWU giving warning and then in a week remove all of them and from then on.

Did you get the Legendary maps on another console from the one you're using the new one month on now? If so, then it's a DRM issue and you can fix it by going to Xbox.com.

The only major change I can think of to Halo 3 online is the elimination of RBTB. Going by the last Bungie podcast, there is going to be some Bungie related announcement at Microsoft's E3 press conference. I'll be flying to Seattle on Monday, and I'll arrive there @ 2:00 PST (so I will have missed the press conference by over 3 and a half hours). Sucks because it is going to be hard catching up when I can get to an internet connection.

I'm sure its just something about rank, or a change in the matchmaking system.

It will not be a major change to the play mechanics.
Might also be the roll out of changes to the online - as in, on the computer - aspect of Halo 3. They solicited feedback for ways to better organize and share content about seven months ago, and said Bungie was working on stuff in that area.
