I played a few matches a few days ago and enjoyed them all.

*crickets*

Land Grab is weighted higher than every flag or bomb game in Social Skirmish. These playlists are fuckin' hilarious.

So, after about three months, I finally popped Halo 3 back in and got a few games in.

I forgot how fun it was, and I'm surprised how quickly I picked the controls up again. Ghost Town is one helluva map, let me tell you that. And while I've periodically checked this thread, I never knew Bungie added a 1v1 playlist to MM. Wow.

So-what'd I miss? TGS still going strong in my absence? :D

At this point, after all these months and Bungie having the veto data, the only reason I can think for them keeping VIP in the playlists is out of spite.

Or it would be too difficult to implement or take too many resources to create new game modes, and if they removed VIP from the already paltry list of matchmaking game types people would complain even more. I'm not saying Bungie should remove VIP or Land Grab. They're good in theory, it's just their current vanilla state that is horrible.

Replace VIP with Influential VIP or VIP Escort (like Ghaleon mentioned).

Add Team ActionSack already.

Replace Land Grab with 3 Plots and add Control Issues in addition to regular Territories.

A little variety would go a long way.

Making it the Escort gametype would fix a lot of VIP's current problems IMO (encouraging movement on the map, actually giving the VIP something to do, etc).

BTW everyone check out that spot on the wall in Valhalla today (by the mongoose and bubble shield), it says "BBQ at Bob's Place".

Question.

Does failing to load "content", i.e. ALL the maps, including all DLC, point to more of a HDD failure, or just a massive disk scratch failure.

I do have a few bigger than tiny scratches on the disk, so I'm hoping that's it, but I thought I'd ask.

....either that, or this is the Banapocalypse accidentally unleashed.

Edit: It's campaign too, so signs point to the disk.

Well, at least it's only 5-60$, not 300.

Hay guise only 109 million more campaign kills until we reach 7 billion! We can do it, right?

.....right? :lol
The 'sad' part is that if half the people online played a few levels we'd be so much closer. :/

I got up to 13,000 kills.

If everyone actually listened and did some campaign it would work but sadly its just a group of people doing lots of work and that won't do it.

Literally there is 765,860 unique players, multiply that by an average of 180 kills on Crows Nest = 137,854,800

Enough to hit 7 billion.

I make suggestions all the time. 99% of the time ignored.

Flag Rally needs brought in normally before Control Issues, which sounds gimmicky, and Land Grab.

I guess I was gone for the whole circle jerk, but after watching the most recent Vidoc I just wanted to say-

BUNGIE'S REMAKING CHILLOUT FUCK YA

ViDoc's up on Marketplace also BTW guys - just watched it, and the whole time ever since it was first announced, I tried to remember how Chill Out looked but I couldn't, but as soon as they showed that one original shot of the incline with the railing, it was like BAM - now I remember!

Funny ViDoc, and thanks again Bungie!

Or, since Bungie have the veto data and you don't, maybe it turns out that not everybody hates it. A huge number of people play Halo and don't post on forums about gametypes they hate.

I think VIP in general is okay, not my favourite but not the worst gametype (o hai Land Grab). On the other hand, One-Sided VIP is completely broken. I would love to see what percentage of games don't end in a draw.

But it's not that big a deal. There's a ton of other playlist problems which are more important, and the playlist team only has finite time to dedicate to the game.

P.S. Shishka, new fixed Narrows is pretty awesome, thanks!

I'd just like to take this time to apologize to anyone who had to play with me and Dax on there team last night :lol

Don't know if anyone saw the article on SarcasticGamer yesterday, but they are saying they have a inside source that Bungie is working on Halo 4 and today they are saying that it will be officially announced at E3 >_>

http://sarcasticgamer.com/wp/index.php/2008/07/source-halo-4-announcement-coming-at-e3.html

I highly doubt it, we already got Halo Wars and Halo: Chronicles at E3, and Bungie? I think they are done with Halo for a while, but hey Bungie lied to us in the past (no Halo 3 :lol), it just seems pretty serious this time.

I would not be surprised if Bungie does indeed develop Halo 4 but I don't think it's coming yet. Likely for the next Xbox I'd say. I think Bungie will continue to make Halo 3 DLC, put out a new IP for the 360 that will be announced soon. Microsoft will hold us over with projects like Halo Wars and Halo: Chronicles on the 360 and then Halo 4 will burst onto the Xbox 720 scene. Just my thoughts. I don't think Bungie wants hand over the reigns completely on the Halo series, it's their baby, they just want a little more freedom.

Regarding VIP... give the VIP 110% damage. Give him shield vampirism That'd make it more interesting and fun if you ask me.

Anyways regarding the bungie update:

Why not call it the Ban Halo, or maybe the Banlo?

I think Bungie's working on another Halo game, I just don't think they're ready to announce it yet.

what does it mean in the update by "Beginning on July 7, there will be a 48-hour long seven-player FFA playlist in Halo 3’s Matchmaking where you can turn the calendar back to 2001 and control Rockets, Invis and Snipe."

He's referencing the Humpday write-up.

Oh look, it's Luke and he's got the Sniper Rifle and Rockets. And Active Camo. Imagine that!

I do NOT believe a word of this. Firstly, for the fact that Bungie hasn't said anything about E3 - I don't know even know that they'll attend, but if they do, it would probably not be in relationship to any game. If there was something big going down at E3, they'd talk about it like they have PAX.

I think it's clear that the current game they are pushing is non-Halo and directly related to this low-key but cool superintendent stuff. I think it may be an XBLA game, simply because they've had a considerably limited time to develop on a full-time basis whatever it is. While I do believe that they're working on something BIG in the Halo universe, it's clearly not Halo Wars, Halo Chronicles or a game entitled Halo 4. I do think it'll involve the Chief and I do believe that it will heavily revolve around the Forerunner and that mysterious thing at the end of Halo 3.

Based on their verbiage, I'd guess that they have other things cooking up, but I think those are the two key element. Since they've said nothing of E3, it seems pretty obvious to me that they'll make an announcement about superintendent on 7/7 and have a playable version of the game at PAX or something to that effect. Who knows, they could announce another project or something else big on Bungie Day - historically, Bungie has been known to make several announcements of varying sizes and natures in a single day, like the 11/2006 announcement of the Halo 3 commercial, the Halo 3 beta and the new maps for Halo 2. All were super huge announcements and all were very different from each other.

I think that Microsoft, at least, wants to have a new Halo game every 2 years. That doesn't mean it will happen, but I'd be surprised if we didn't see a new Halo game (or a game in that universe with the same gameplay mechanics) by November 2010.

I don't believe we'll see the next Microsoft console before then, so my prediction is that the next Halo game is made for the 360.

Eh, I think it'd be too late in the 360's lifespan to release the next Halo for it.

Besides, I'm thinking they'd want to work on something new before going back to Halo.
