Yeah, I thought that was really neat.

Well, the map looks great. I can't wait for Monday.

EDIT: Hee hee, some MLG kids thought the extra thing we'd be getting tonight would be an "old textures" option.

:lol Great ViDoc.

Luke: Oh you know what we forgot...
Shishka: What's that?
Luke: There's gonna be a whole playlist you asshole, you're the playlist designer

KEEP IT CLEAN at the end ;p

Superintendent symbol. Can't wait for whatever the fuck it is.

The ViDoc was hilarious hahaha I am glad the pretty much laid it out multiple times for the kids. Cold Storage is free and will always be free, and thank god they painted in the fun lol

Hmmm. Tonight I'm going to fire up a seperate thread for post-Halo Bungie project hints and speculation. The b.net forum posts, webcam, t-shirts and now the hints in the ViDOC are enough that I think it should be compiled and moved out of the Halo thread, since it's clearly not Halo.

So... the only potential 'gotcha' with Cold Storage being free (and this was spelled out in the Weekly Update this morning, but it didn't really hit home until I watched the ViDoc)... you can download it and play it in Customs, for free, but unless you shell out for the Legendary maps, you won't be seeing it in Matchmaking.

(This seems fair, actually - I'm simply spelling it out so that someone who decided the Legendary maps weren't worth $10 (well, $7.50, starting Monday) doesn't get bent out of shape when they realize they can't actually play Cold Storage in Matchmaking, at all.)

Best devs.

Luke, Shiska, others who might lurk: sorry for the consistent bitching and moaning you read here. It's because we love you and care for you.

Just got finished watching the ViDoc.:D

At the beginning, Luke says that Bungie is striving to become a multi-game studio, and was about to announce one of the titles they were working on when Shiska (you bastard!) stopped him.

So does that mean Bungie is going to announce one of their next projects on Bungie Day? Or am I getting the wrong impression?

Oh and the ViDoc was funny.

Keep it Clean plus the superintendent logo at the end of this vidoc seems to indicate that they're ramping up... the last time they did anything that forward was when they introduced ILB with the H2 theatrical trailer.

E3 maybe? I doubt they're going the ARG route again, so I think they're just breadcrumbs leading up to a reveal.

You know, you could get that impression... which is strange. I personally doubt they'd be showing it this early, but the way the opening to the ViDoc was structured, it's not out of the question, I guess.

That's a good point. It sounds like the map won't be integrated into the playlists that require the Heroic Map Pack, but not the Legendary set.

But...aren't the only playlists that requires the Legendary Map Pack are the DLC playlists? Meaning the only playlists Cold Storage will show up are are the DLC and relevant Double XP playlists? I would assume Cold Storage is integrated into the same playlists as the Heroic one down the road. Hmmm.

In addition to the Superintendent symbol at the end, a phrase also comes up for a brief second.

This is one of the things that the SI says on B.net.

I bet that Plumber dude icon is going to be an XBL LIVE arcade game from Bungie. If so I hope a "real" non arcade big budget game gets announced soon as well.

Yes, this is the case, for now.

Nope - the Hardcore lists (SWAT and Head to Head) both require Legendary maps.

Lol and he we thought it would be MLG to be the first to rain on our parade ;P

Since the map is free and I would think pretty much everyone would download it, shouldn't it just show up in the other playlists like the other maps?

Ah, I had forgotten all about those. Makes sense. Hopefully Cold Storage is added to the Heroic playlists soon. That is a bit of a gotcha - no matchmaking without forking over for the Legendary maps. I knew we'd find something to complain about. :p

I am getting a platformer "vibe" from what I have seen of this new game so far. I don't know why.
Ghaleon's thread tonight will be a nice way to compile all of the information that we have so far. And it will be a good place for us to talk about it in, instead of doing it in a completely separate game's thread.

Btw, Ghal, check your PMs.

I'm going with this one:

7/7/08 - Cold Storage Released for free.

E3 2008 - "Superintendent" Game Announced

PAX 2008 - "Superintendent" and New Map Pack Blow-out.

I'm calling it.

lol, I like how you put his name as "can't remember," since he made such a big deal about having "called it." Even bumping the Cold Storage announcement thread to post the same "called it" post that he put in here.

Maybe the reason it is being announced so early (if we are right) is because it's a sort of mini-project along side another project. Maybe it actually is a side-scroller to be released on the XBLA :o Take that Miyamoto! Bungle can make Mario too, and they aren't messing around! :lol Whatever it is, it's already got me excited, haha.

Why do they keep saying textures? Don't they mean geometry? Are they retarded?

They do mean geometry of the floors, ceilings. They are wrong.

I had 2 grenades bounce straight back at me in rats nest its in my file share as bad geometry. Its seriously ridiculous. All new maps should have smooth walls, and ceilings except where MADE obvious by map items/rocks/whatnots.

Are they going to announce this Janitor game on Bungie Day?
I believe so, yeah.

Think Mario, N+, and maybe a bit of Portal's small-ish feel.

Now I am super hyped. :D But I'm also slightly disappointed. I love free-for-all and I love ChillOut but with the temporary 7-man FFA hopper only being up for two days (a Monday and a Tuesday at that) how many people are gonna play?

More importantly how am I going to play if I end up working both of those days and have class Monday night (with a test too). mega sad face
