Yes and no. It's not unlockable in the game. The only way to get it is for Bungie to give it to you. They do this for a small handful of folks, for all sorts of reasons. It's neat, but it's just armor.

Ok I have a few questions.
First off I just got this game and recently started playing it online.
A week or so ago Grif Ball was playable but now isn't. How can I have the option of playing it again? Also what are the cool variants that other people have made, and how do you get them?
Special armors are just for looks and bragging rights. No bonuses, correct?
I have both map packs, so yeah me.

I feel bad about it, but I've actually taken to quitting out of gametypes I hate when they start. It's that or slog through a game I don't want to play for 10-15 minutes, and there's a huge disparity between the good stuff and the stuff that's just not fun to play. The past few weeks it's felt like more than half of the gametypes have been pretty bad.
Also, I'd love to play the Heavy variant in Social. I can't get a Ranked game going, so I've never played it.
But I really don't like most of the gametypes in it. My late night bullet points:

Agree. I've posted frequently about how the playlist needs updated. No, I'm not talking about BTB Heavies. That's a minor update. I'm talking about having objectives higher than slayer, changing up equipment perhaps (a trip mine or grav lift in Valhalla -- spice it up!), or adding a transport vehicle to Covenant games, which should mostly be CTF or Bomb, not Slayer. A Prowler, Bungie. Why not? Turret too weak? I don't think it is. Plus it's a great battering ram against ground people. Not to mention it can flip over Ghosts with ease in defense. I only wonder -- why introduce this improved vehicle (over the Spectre) and not include it in the multiplayer at all? :|
Agree. It's a much better objective based map. Slayer is okay on it, but the slayer games on it appear to heavily outweigh the objectives. That's not how it should be.
I like Covenant better for objectives.
CTF Covenant should be, for a map like Valhalla, for example:
1 Wraith
1 Banshee
1 Prowler
1 Chopper
Then place one Ghost where the Mongoose normally is.
I liked it better named "Multi-Bomb" but it's called Assault now. It, also, needs a higher weight.

Alright so running through harvesting section of Crow's Nest with various skulls turned on, I remembered the bungie update that contained various random facts. The update said that one people had beat all the levels on Legendary with all the skulls on. So I tried it with all skulls on easy and made it through alright. But when I bumped it up to Legendary it became just impossible. I want to call BS on that. There's just no fuckin way. I refuse to even go into details as to why it would be impossible because if you just boot up Halo 3 right now and try it you shall quickly see why.

Of course you can add your kills to the pot! All you have to do is be online while youre doing campaign missions and it will automatically track and upload all of your kills to Bungie.net. All kills from all players are added up to hit the total 7 Billion. So no sign up is necessary but you can report here with your progress through screenshots and stories.

I'll try to get my friend who's never played through the Halo 3 campaign (Our Halo 2's campaign either for that matter) to go through an online co-op play through with me. He wants the different armor permutations for multiplayer so I think I can convince him. It'll be my contribution towards 7 billion campaign kills. Besides my like 5 play throughs by myself and with my roommate. It's my part of the crunch towards victory.
