In the Edge preview they stated that there was a 'Missing: Jason Jones' poster on the level the Storm with legible text. Has anyone found it yet?

The only Jason Jones easter egg that i know about is the bouncing picture of him in his boxers on the level Halo

Yeah, I found that all by myself on my first playthrough of that level. I even took a screenshot and posted it in this thread.

Who is Edwin Guarin? He's at my campus on Wednesday for some speaking engagement along with a Halo 3 party.

WTF Bungie. I didn't notice it before but you can't take vehicles with you through indoor sections anymore, there are invisible walls that prevent you from advancing. Not just that, there are invisible ceilings all over the place, some won't even let you jump because they are placed so low.

I'm a bit disappointed but I'm sure there are reasons, hopefully technical ones (saved films) as I find it hard to believe that Bungie would design the game like that on purpose.

I think this should be archived, and studied in order to learn how this guy took one of the coolest Campaign moments ever and make a truly terrible video out of it. The music, camera work - yikes.

Incredible moment, though.

:lol That's the first thing I thought of!

No kidding.

On a different note, what skull combinations are you guys using to get your 15K achievements with? I think I have a pretty decent system going now (Heroic, Thunderstorm, Fog, Famine, and Tough Luck), but yeah, I'm sure there are more efficient combos out there.

You can play on normal and put Fog, Famine, Tough Luck, and Catch + one or two silver skulls (if you'd like, they're not necessary) and you're guaranteed to finish the level with more than enough points for the achievement.

Numbers is cranky.
Thermite and I were playing Campaign Slayer with him on the Ark. After deactivating our shield generator thing, we blew up the Warthog and drove off in the Mongoose, leaving Numbers behind. We got to the Hornets and blew up one and flew away. He ended the game and was not in the lobby.

We move on to Team Doubles. Half way through a few games in I get the message: M589776 wants to be your friend. Thermite and I had a fair chuckle. :lol

I would just like to say that 1 sided vip is the DUMBEST fucking gametype *ever*. What happened to the fun vip found in the beta where you had 2 vips and some super overshield on the vip? The fact you get NO shield and the marker tells people where you are is so stupid. And it's not a matter of sucking, i've probably done 10 or so of them today and guess what? Every single one of them ended as a tie because it's near impossible to lose.

Seriously I doubt anyone at bungie even played it once.

yeh they should keep the marker but have at least the overshield strength of the TS os.

Well I think it should be just as it was in the beta. I loved VIP in the beta and considered it a cool mode, now it's basically instant tie.

Two sided VIP is still in the game, and rarely seems to end in a tie. I agree one sided is worthless, especially when you cap their VIP early on, and they get yours in the last five seconds, yet it still counts as a tie. Lame.

yeh i know lame.

is two sided still with the super over shields? And what list is it in.. I play team slayer, team objective, and rarely big team battle.

It has overshields. Not sure if its the super one. It's in big team and doubles at least.

It comes up fairly often in Big Team Battle.

VIP's have an overshield but it seems their health meter takes longer to regenerate, so it kinda evens out a bit.

finally been playing through single player legendary campaign. just finished tsavo highway and found a rather easy way to get through the part everyone seems to have trouble with.

for those that care;
first, make sure you have some sniper rifles from the encounters before the first shield door. give these to some marines, preferably marines riding shotgun in hogs. next, drive the warthog across the gap in the highway by staying on the beams that stick out of the concrete. once across, make sure you give some rifles to your buddies and keep one for yourself. drive the hog and park it right in front of the barricade you pass through. your marine buddies wont get in the hog but will meet you roughly in this area. now the easy part, man the chain gun and gun down some brutes! you should be able to clear out the first two waves with just the chain gun, but you can also hop off to snipe pesky hiding brutes. bare in mind though, when a dropship is in bound, get out of the hog and run clear so it doesnt get destroyed. and on the topic of it getting blown up, when you are gunning after the brute captain with the fuel rod gun, hope out of the hog when he starts shooting the green blasts and move to the side. for once you'll be thankful they track a bit and they'll arc after you and miss your hog.

after those two waves its wraith time, and also time to abandon your hog (or die). your marines will now charge to their death. let them. run instead into the pipes and take out the few brutes nearby the wraith tank with stickies and/or spikes. run back to the opposite side of the battle and creep along the outer left wall, taking out the remaining brutes with head shots (br/carbine/sniper). most of them should be gone from your warthog massacre. grab yourself the sniper (if you need it) thats in the base at the far end of the left side, and snipe out the brute in the gunner position of the wraith. run back around (the way you came) to the tubes again but this time stay behind them, not inside. jump off the ones closest to the wraith and land smack on top of it to jack it off for mission complete.

I just killed them all on foot solo (my marines wandered off and died previously iirc) :p

It was quite tough but i didn't have as much trouble on legendary as i did there on heroic, since i stayed in the pipe area instead of getting trapped behind those 2 buildings behind where they spawn :lol

What are you talking about that map owns.

Yes it does. I can get a grenade pretty much anywhere on the top level at will. If you're upset with folks camping the purple lifts, there are countless tools available to solve the problem. Most people just run headlong into the purple lifts and then Q.Q when they get gang banged. Construct is a thinking man's map! :D

There's even a power drainer right infront of the lift.

A.K.A. Push fusion coils into the lifts and send along a grenade for good measure. I remember the first time I got a kill that way. I immediately created a film clip and sent it to the guy I killed.

Anyone do legendary with all the skulls on yet?

a.k.a the real man's difficulty setting

That is as close to impossible as a game can get. I'm not sure anyone will do it solo. Well, I'm sure a few freaks will do it, but none of us normals.

I think I'm going to run around the bottom two levels alone.

So after everyone has done their Legendary run-throughs, what do you guys think is the difficulty to play on?

I personally like to stay at Heroic, because it is challenging, yet you still feel like a bad-ass.

So if you were going to go back through on Halo 3 on any difficulty would it be Heroic or Legendary?

Heroic, hands down. Heroic just feels correct.

Legendary (solo, at least) is insane. It's like someone coming up to you and saying "Hi, I would like to rape you. Please drop your pants."

On subsequent solo playthrough, I'll be doing Legendary, for the most part. If I ever find any skulls (none in the first two runs) I'll use them on Heroic. Probably mix it up for co-op as well.

Legendary had me playing very, very cautious, but it felt a lot like my first trek through Halo on Legendary, which I eventually became very comfortable with. Most of the challenge I ran into was from being poorly equipped for the encounter at hand - not bringing a sniper rifle, losing my vehicle too early, etc. With practice I'll be able to play through it in a more daring manner.
