Yes! It's near impossible with only 5.

Edit: sixthsubset, I think you're mistaking your own ability for the general condition. There's no way in hell I will ever hit 50 and I'm struggling right now just to get past 20. :lol

it was pretty funny watching everyone freak out over fake spoilers
It's no where as bad as the fake spoiler MS did with that diorama ad. No where in the game was that scenario! :lol

I just had my first encounter with an honest-to-God racist little kid in Halo 3. :lol (Well, he wasn't so much racist as laughably ignorant and insensitive, but you'll see...)

So, I enter this match in matchmaking and this little kid is having a conversation with two teenagers. They're in a really heated debate, so I wonder what's up.

"What are you guys talking about?'

"The N word and how we're not supposed to say it for some stupid reason."

"Oh...."

At this point, I figure it's best to just turn off my headset and play the rest of the game without even bothering to talk to them. One of the teenagers then starts to bring up how the word has certain connotations with slavery, but the kid interrupts him and goes-

"Don't even try to bring slavery in here. You don't want to get me started."

"But...it's kinda relevant when talking about this stuff."

The kid responds,

"You know what they should have done, those stupid slaves? They should have manned up! You know? Black people are bigger than us, stronger than us, and they outnumbered us. They should have manned up and beat the crap out of the white people. But they didn't; they WANTED to be enslaved."

:lol

Your films in the "Recent Films" list are stored in cache memory, when you play another game, that cache of films is cleared. I may be unfairly assuming that's what happened here. I forgot to save some films from MP the other night and started up madden and by the time I remembered they were gone.
Btw, what happened to the function in the beta where you pressed X after the game to save the film? While playing matchmaking, if I want to save a game, I have to jump out (if I'm not the party leader), switch to Theater, then save the film. And that's if I remember to do this, if we keep on playing matchmaking for a while longer the game disappears.

Also that skull on Cortana is just a second Blind skull.

How do you know? Did you get it? And if you did, how did you go about it? Seems weird that they'd put TWO blind skulls in the game, especially considering how much easier the "other" blind skull is to get. I'm trying it out myself in about 4 hours.

I had a friend's request from
MASTERCHIEFDIES with the motto Cortana dies too!
the week before it came out.
I actually just got one today that says "Gravemine Dies" in the motto area.

I looked at it for a second and then after accepting defeat of Being spoiled for the 30min playthrough secret ending, went and had a delicious sandwich.

Wow. I wonder about some of these kids' friends, parents and schools.

That's seriously fucked up.

i just discovered this playlist last night, its def. a lot of fun.

Same. Me and my friend have been playing that alot.

The only thing we don't like about that playlist is that The Pit shows up alittle too much, and not enough Epitaph.

I encounter people like that at my job all the time. It's sooo depressing.

On an unrelated note, playing through again on Legendary alone and loving every second of it. This is my first Halo game so I didn't realize how deadly the snipers were on Legendary. They managed to get a headshot nearly everytime.

Something that I kinda felt they shouldn't have changed from the beta was the way the spike grenade looks. In the beta it was so satisfying to throw the spike grenade because it felt like you were throwing a tennis ball on the end of a pencil. I don't know why they added the smoke trail, maybe so you could see where you threw it?

Maybe I'm just retarded

Yeah, what happened to this?

Bingo. They added the smoke trail and the glow, because it was hard to see when it was thrown (I'm making an assumption here). It was a common complaint that when fighting in shaded areas that the spike grenade was difficult to track.

I'm surprise by how many people don't play with mic's.

It makes games so... peaceful. Well peacefully brutal anyways.
I started to feel this way at first but then again every 5th round or so now I get the stereotypical 12 year old who is constantly fucking singing some horrid song and I just want him to shut the fuck up and be normal. I love the mute feature but why should I have to use it? I want his communication but I don't want him to sing his childhood songs or the 2 80's songs he's heard.

Ok, I don't know what the fuck I am doing wrong when it comes to melee hits. I'll fire a bunch of AR rounds into the guy and when he moves in close I'll try to go for the hit but instead his hit always seems to land me and kill me.

I feel like this happens too often to me too. It happened so often in the beta that i joked about how it seemed like my melee button was in fact a "die by melee" button, since i always died at the exact moment that i pressed it :p

I got a cool mid-air stick kill tonight, a clip is in my fileshare if anyone is interested, it was a very satisfying kill :D

http://www.bungie.net/Stats/Halo3/Default.aspx?player=BadAss84

I also noticed tonight that mauler + spiker is pretty awesome, and a rather fun combo to run around with since both are used quite differently.

SP-wise i'm on the final level now, so i will finish the fight tomorrow, yay! ^^

Heh. So True. I like to use a headset when no one is there and say crazy things.

"Did you guys know that if you braid Chest hair, your chest skin will become bulletproof? Just thought it would be helpful for you guys to know"

and remain silent for the rest of the match. Some dudes actually put on a headset and respond with "WTF?" But I never respond beyond that.

Fun times.

I played earlier today around 1 PM Pacific and it was amazing. Every match had pretty good teamwork and not one annoying person I wanted to hit. I think it's because most of the kids are still in school.

Anyway, finished the fight just a few minutes ago. Still utterly confused as to what happened as I always seem to be in Halo games.

I thought the Ark was on Earth? Or were they in a different universe or something that entire time?

How did the Flood die? I thought they had to go through the portal to do that? Or did I already go through the portal?

Who did Cortana say didn't make it in the ending?

How did Arbiter get back onto Earth but not MC?

That said, the campaign was great on co-op with 3 players. We were on Legendary. The boss battles, other than the disappointingly easy and dumb
Guilty Spark
battle where my teammates couldn't spawn were great.

The
escape sequence
at the end was so frustrating =(

How long do you guys think it'll be before we get some changes to the Matchmaking playlists?

Hopefully we'll hear something in this Friday's update.

The thingie on earth just made the portal to the ark, which was actually located outside the galactic rim.

The flood died when the incomplete installation 04 ring blew up. They all went through the portal on High Charity to chase after Truth and stop him from setting off the halo array.

Cortana wasn't sure if they'd make it through the portal so said goodbye to the Chief.

The ship got cut in half since the portal closed as the ship was halfway through it when the halo ring fired. Arbiter's half made it through the portal back to earth, the other half got teleported to some random-ass location in space.

The ironic part was, I got hit with those, but dodged all others - until Frank inadvertantly spoiled something for me by linking a thread here without saying what the OP was.

Then, for the rest of the game, I kept thinking, "Is this the scene Johnson dies in?" Given that he gets the living shit kicked out of him in Halo 3 - often - there were a lot of possibilities.

(That's a real spoiler, btw.)

Exactly how things went for me.

The Forerunner built a portal to the Ark on earth - that's the giant bubble thing that Truth activated. The Ark itself was on the outer rim of our galaxy.

The Flood followed the Covenant and human forces to the Ark through the portal that Truth opened. The Flood was (hopefully) destroyed when MC activated the Halo and destroyed the Ark.

The ship that the MC, Arbiter and Cortana escaped the exploding Ark on only made it halfway through the portal back to earth. The Arbiter was on the front half of the ship that made it through; MC and Cortana were on the back half that didn't.

Like I have said before, Cortana clearly states that they made it through the portal. If they didn't, Master Chief would be dead. I think the portal tore the ship a part and sent Master Chief somewhere else because he is The Reclaimer.

Cortana sez... "well, some of us did" Indicating only the Arbiter made it back. Maybe you are right and they made it through the portal, I dont know, but I am just quoting her words

uhh i played from level 6 through 9 and accessed all terminals and no achievement, wtf.

Did you let the terminal run it's course? They change and go to more text if you sit for a bit. You have to let them get to the point where they read "end of fragment" (or something like that). One terminal doesn't do that though so don't worry about sitting there for 15 minutes if one doesn't do it.

Shouldn't you be worried about your departure from Bungie?

You're leaving out the fact that she said that "they" as in her and chief had made it through the portal and then when the camera pans over it "well some of us did" is added because she believes Arbiter didn't make it through.

There's been speculation that because the replacement Installation 04 wasn't finished yet, it didn't actually fire but simply exploded when the firing sequence was attempted. Guity Spark said it needed several days before it was ready to fire. But the explosion was big enough to desroy it, the Ark, and the Flood.

Which has me asking: What was Cortana's solution she alluded to in the transmission left on the Covenant ship that crashed near the portal on Earth? If the Flood didn't follow them to the Ark, what would the solution have been?

Shit! You nailed that one. I had not interpreted it that way. I always assumed Cortana thought that they were the ones who didnt make it and not the that they thought it was the Arbiter who didnt make it. So this would mean that Cortana believes that their current location is where they should be if the portal was showing a normal behavior? It s weird though because she assumes they are far away from earth. Impliying that she believes that the portal was supposed to take them somewhere else? I hate to analyze this thing. I prefer to think that last thing they see is the Marathon

In the "Seven Steps to World Domination" documentary you say that you are trying to achieve that feeling of "awe" that Halo 1 had with a new game, how is that going?

Yeah they made it into the portal but it closed while they were in there which sent them to some unknown area instead of Earth. The only problem I see with picking the series up later is the fact that Cortana says it might be years until they are found. A.I. only have a certain "lifespan" then they go rampant. Rampancy is noted in the books and even in the Terminals in the H3 campaign. When Master Chief awakens later on down the road, Cortana is going to be a very different person.
