I received the same tracking number as everyone else, and I truly hope we get the game tomorrow. Problem is, if you actually look halfway down the tracking page from Fed Ex, it says "Package data transmitted to FedEx." I spoke with an individual at Fed Ex to understand what that little line means.

She explained that NewEgg has set up the shipment digitally, but that Fed Ex is NOT in possession of those copies of Halo 3. Until you get another line under that one which says, "Out for delivery" you're not receiving JACK SHIT.

Once again, I hope we have a September miracle and everyone who ordered the game receives it tomorrow. I just wouldn't hold my breath.

I get what you are trying to say but there is no way in hell they don't have those shipments already if they expected them to be here today.

Yup. They have to be in transit at this point.

Oh man, was so close to not having halo 3 at launch

just got an email from liongames saying that my copy will arrive at the earliest wednesday, but I'm going to get a copy at a midnight event anyway and sell it to the kid across the hall!

YES>>>>>>>>>>:lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol

possibly old.

A few things though. Downloadable content from Bungie? They'll wait for a while, see how the player-generated content created through Forge works out, but expect some official downloads down the line. Easter eggs and stuff to do after you've gone through the storymode once? Play co-op, as it opens all sorts of new interactions with the AI, and then hunt for the skulls -- collecting them will open up plenty of new hidden modes. Keep looking for terminals as well, since a separate back story is told that way.

Interesting.

From Kotaku.

The terminals seem very interesting. Can anybody who has been blessed with early passage through the The Great Journey give us insight as to how these work without revealing any story details?

Sounds like we'll hear more about the Peter Jackson project at GDC. Which would make it what, a year (GDC '07) since it was announced?

I'm really excited about it, actually.

EDIT: Nevermind, it was X06. Either way.

And spoiler tag them, please. :\

I've been held up in my spoiler free bunker for the last two days. I was forced to eat rats when I ran out of food, but I stayed strong and inside my bunker. However, I have emerged in need of GAF, I'm having withdraws.

Those articles by Tyson Green are pretty well done. I'm getting excited about trying to make my planned fusion core fun house, which mostly involves fusion cores and carefully placed hill locations.

Don't think it was posted either. Though I'm not sure where in the campaign they're showing. So watch out for the spoiler free guys.

It's stuff we've seen in a previously limited capacity (The Storm, iirc), but if you are being 100% spoiler free I might stay away.

Second two parts are Forge on High Ground.

I hope the terminal are interactive like in the Marathon games. I get the impression though that theyre simple text screens that you read. Still cool, me likes some back story.

anyone having any luck finding this at any 7-11's????I have called a bunch and either they can't speak english or they have clue what "halo" even is...WTF???

Finding these skulls is going to be epic. I just spent fifty minutes exploring a section of a level that you never even have to go to - it's off to the side hidden in a sort of canyon. I climbed tons of rocks and worked my way to the top of this bridge-thing that looked interesting. Once I finally got up there, I spent twenty minutes walking around this massive, completely empty structure. I was about to leave when I noticed a white dot. I zoomed in with my sniper and it was a skull, in the middle of nowhere, in a place that I didn't even think I could get to. It took me ANOTHER twenty minutes to finally figure out that the only way to actually get to it was to do a precise grenade jump at a specific point.

Fucking love that shit.

And the IGN SP footage was cool... very tasty.

Yeah, I just got that email too. Really cool that they are going to ship on the 24th at least. With priority I stand a chance getting it on the 25, given how quickly Bioshock got to me.

Here are sections from the email for those interested:

Halo 3 will be shipping on one day early on Monday the 24th. USPS first class shipping could take anywhere from 3 to 7 days to arrive and USPS Priority shipping can take 2 to 3 days.
UPS orders will also ship on Monday the 24th directly from my distributor’s warehouse. Those orders should take 1 to 2 days to arrive. Normally my distributor would time the shipment for a street date arrival, but Microsoft has lowered the boom and is not allowing any shipments to go out sooner then Monday. They are serious about preserving street date.

How things usually work for retailers:

You may ask when do I ship my preorders? There are two different types of releases. Street dated titles like Halo 3, and Non Street dated titles like Super Smash Brothers Brawl. Street dated titles ship by street date and sometimes one day earlier like Halo 3. My distributor doesn’t get non street dated titles until release date, so I don’t get my product until 2 days after release. In the case of Super Smash Bros that comes out on the 4th of December and I will be shipping that out on the 6th of December. Please keep this in mind when you are making your buying decisions. I think all titles should be street dated but the gaming industry works in weird ways at times!

Awesome, Darkman. You ordered yours from newegg right? I just ordered mine, could you get online tomorrow morning and say weather or not it came?

Will do, and will post some shitty camera phone pics as well if here.

I wonder if the strategy guide will list their locations? I hope not.

Dont look at that chapter! It would have them Id say. Good to have for when youve exhausted every possible area you can think of.

Oh and can you spoiler tag if necessary whether or not the back story terminals are interactive? Did you find any?

I was watching the Multiplayer Vidoc and it made me wonder something. Did we ever find out exactly what the so-called "port-o-potty" is and if it was in the beta?

I had no luck a 7-11 today same as the other dude who tried. Man I could ordered one from New Egg too but I thought with all the bandwagon hoppers there was no way you guys would have any luck. We'll see tomorrow, I have the day off too so I'll have all day to brood about it! :(

just wondering, was the IGN TGS demo posted? if not: http://media.xbox360.ign.com/media/734/734817/vids_1.html

I couldn't help but think the monitor tossing the turret around was like a little baby trying to make a toy stand up straight.

Also, after just reading through the Construct preview, I'm really digging the feel of it. Reminds me more of lockout than the other one does. I forget it's name, though.

The ign vids contains the most spoilers that I have been exposed to. If you're getting halo 3 tomorrow or this weekend, please avoid it.

More impressions from those (lucky few) who have it needed.

Note: These are SP gameplay spoilers, I won't post any plot details.

It's every thing it's been hyped to be. It exceeds my expectations. The scale of the battles is phenomenal.
On the second or third mission there's a part with at least 30-40 enemies on screen and then 3 phantoms drop more enemies in. And the battles are getting bigger (I finished the first 4 missions last night)
.

Holy shit at the first scarab battle, I was really impressed by its AI, especially how it climbs over things. Driving a mongoose under it, trying to dodge it's legs whilst the marine on the back fires rockets at it is probably my favourite moment of campaign so far.

As I've said before, the saved films are easily my favourite feature, I spent at least a couple of hours yesterday just going through the videos of the splitscreen multiplayer I've been playing taking screenshots.

I'll be on for a while if you want any questions answered. (Except for plot spoilers)

I never played Marathon, so I don't know how interactive those were,
but these aren't. Well, not really. You have a limited amount of time to scroll through the text (there's usually two or three pages) and then the screen locks up. But, then you can just back out and open it up again and quickly scroll to the last page you were on (this seems to be how it is, if I'm doing it correctly). The interface is really cool looking though.

yes yes yes yes yes. I agree completely. You're not finished with the game, yet? Ooh, boy, it's coming. It just keeps getting better and better.

Hah, it JUST hit me that we'll be playing Halo 3 in less than 6 days. This whole time I was like "Yeah, can't fucking wait" but now it's like "Man .. are Halo baby is going to be born once again!". Just hit me.

Direct link to hi-res flv files of the IGN TGS07 Halo 3 demo. So you can download and watch them without the hassle. Seems like it's from that campaign level with the cool sky. Part 1 and 2 are campaign, part 3 and 4 are MP(forge and stuff).
Part 1 (campaign): http://xbox360movies.ign.com/xbox36...21311/halo3_tgs07demo1_092007_flvhighwide.flv
Part 2(campaign): http://xbox360movies.ign.com/xbox36...21311/halo3_tgs07demo2_092007_flvhighwide.flv
Part 3(MP): http://xbox360movies.ign.com/xbox36...21311/halo3_tgs07demo3_092007_flvhighwide.flv
Part 4(MP): http://xbox360movies.ign.com/xbox36...21311/halo3_tgs07demo4_092007_flvhighwide.flv

Don't think I'll be watching the campain ones. While they're from the level Parish wrote about in EGM, this is the first demo to the public they've done. I've already seen enough.
Forge is way awesome, watching it now.

Holy shit. Overload.
Since I posted that, I've been
scaling a BLOODY SNOW COVERED MOUNTAIN for about thirty minutes. It's like Snowbound from Halo 2, except much, much, much bigger. Haven't hit an invisible wall yet and I'm freakin' miles above the surface. My Hornet wouldn't fly this high so I had to abandon it and I'm still climbing. It's... it's unbelievable. If there is a skull up here, I'll never find it.

Just general impressions of the scale and game play. Is it more of a hearkening back to CE (from all impressions this seems to be the case)?

The early word that the game is really living up to the hype is really encouraging though. :D
