So are any of the Juniors and recent members of HaloGAF any good at Halo?

I am the best.

;)

Also, Squad Battle tonight sounds fun... I am going to have a large pile of candy at my disposal tonight (Candy Swap), so Halo sounds like a good idea.

edit: I really need an avatar... And I lack the skills/originality to come up with my own.

Any good ideas?

Hola Juices

I don't remember who said it, but someone was talking about Halo Chastity on the previous page. I saw someone mention this on Twitter a few weeks ago and I checked it out. If they actually get this movie rolling, I think it is going to be pretty badass. They've already got a playwood warthog that is functional (it's got a funky color right now, but thier still working on it.). It looks pretty awesome. http://operationchastity.com/
Best thing? Casting is taking place at the end of the year in/around London.

I'm going to at least give it a shot.

You getting ODST?

It's just something I put together really quickly.

Seeing a GAFer in a Halo movie would be the best thing ever. I hope you make the cut.

Dax, I'm surprised there's not an AR in that avatar. :P
:lol I have little to no acting experience, I doubt I'll get anywhere. I just want to get on a stage and be all "I love being a Sergeant in the UNSC, you get to have power and be pally with the recruits without being as much of a wanker as an officer. Right men? Grrrrrrr."

I can kind of agree...but I do take a certain pride in taking down vehicles...its just satisfying :D

Aw, I was all excited for a new one.

That one was released three weeks ago. :(
lol. I didn't see it (or remember it) being posted here, so I did it because I was looking at Devin's montage. Sorry.

About Bumper Jumper... I'd be willing to switch, or at least, use it for awhile. The only thing holding me back is my semi-annual play through of Halo: CE. I'm worried that I'd lessen the experience because Halo: CE doesn't have BJ and it would take awhile for me to get use to another control scheme.

Is this a problem for anyone else?

If you still have an OXB, playing it on that might help your muscle memory.
The first time I played a Halo game (which was Halo: CE) was on the Xbox 360 back in Christmas of 2005.
Edit: The driving reason for me switching all of a sudden is for ODST.

Switching back and forth between control schemes is no longer an issue for me. Takes about 5 minutes to readjust. Even more disorienting, IMO, is CE's cranked up FOV, and slightly different aiming mechanic.

Great montage Devin, brings back memories.

Maybe this is old news to GAF, but have you guys seen Operation Chastity? Some film-buff Halo-fans have been trying to gather enough money to film their own Halo movie.
With the insane amount of legal issues surrounding a Halo movie, I doubt they'll be able to make it, but they have some really cool concept art (and a WIP warthog).

Sidenote: Is there a 'click-to-show-picture' code on NeoGaf? This picture is pretty megahuge.
Ah yes, I've heard of it but haven't seen any of their work. That's pretty damn awesome. They also are bulding a warthog, and it looks great so far. I'd much rather see a big budget Halo film, but whichever way that goes, it still be interesting to see what these guys come up with. Usually Microsoft is pretty cool when it comes to Halo, but they will shut things down (i.e. that Halo RTS mod that got shut down just before Halo Wars was announced). Hopefully Microsoft doesn't hold out and shut them down at the last minute, if at all.
I highly doubt they would release a new Gears and Halo game in the same quarter (let alone same year). They like to having one HUGE game from their IPs per year instead of meshing them together. Gears 3 is most likely 2011.

But if Reach does come out in September 10 followed by Gears 3 two months later then the next Xbox will come out in 2011, 100%.
I hope so. I'd be interesting to see how another year of development will shape Gears 3.

What sensitivity does everyone play at? I've never ventured from the default but I've often wondered if I should increase it for an extra edge. I know it's not necessary as I've competed against generals and such without an issue but I was wondering if any of you guys really noticed an improvement after doing so.

Just finished Banjo Tooie on XBA, yeah yeah, say it's lame but I still love that game. Just a few more hours left in Broken Sword on the Wii and then I will dedicate myself solely to Halo as I await ODST. In the meantime, I'll still be happy to play matches if someone is on. Sent a few of you a FR's later last night and will probably look up a few more today when I sign on for the dashboard update. Sent one to your BTB account too, Spasm.

Sidenote: Holy Moley Eazy, I was floored by how many different games you've played when I selected 'Compare Games' :lol Kudos for the Klungo Saves teh World gamerpic :D

Hmm, I play on 4 sensitivity with Bumper Jumper. I'm not sure if going from 3 to 4 is much of a difference, but it just feels right for me. I know someone who plays strictly on 10 sensitivity, and he's good. :lol

What is the current grand total cost of Halo 3 add-on map packs? I was thinking about picking up Halo 3 again, and of course ODST when that comes out. I originally sold my Halo 3 because it looked fugly on the monitor I was using, but I have a nice tv now that should resolve that issue

Picking up Halo 3 now somewhat reduces the value proposition of ODST. Then again, I'm not sure what all the map packs have cost at this point, so maybe all that dlc plus a new campaign plus firefight make it a $60 value again.

When we played Halo 2 Friday a month or so back, It only took me a game to readjust to the default control scheme. Of course, I would still make the occational wrong button press in intense fights, but it didn't really affect it too much. And plus, you'd be playing campaign. It's not competitive so there's no reason why you couldn't spend some extra time getting reaquainted with the controls.

Oh, and don't do what Willeth said about using the original Xbox controller... you will get carpel tunnel with it's hugeness. :D

If you pick up ODST, you get all the map packs that have come out for Halo 3, plus three new maps.

Heroic Map Pack = Free
Cold Storage = Free
Legendary Map Pack = 600pts ($7.50)
Mythic Map Pack = 800pts ($10)
---------------------------------------------------------
Total for current map packs = 1400pts ($17.50)
+ ODST Map Pack = Exclusive to ODST

Pretty sure it is $30...Heroic, Legendary and Mythic.

Edit...I stand corrected.

All right. I'll give it a go. Let's see how it turns out.:D

Well that's still a fair chunk of the cost. I figured I would buy Halo 3 to scratch the itch, and when ODST launched I would be up to date on all the DLC. I'm sure the diehards who have all the map packs see it as a bit of an orange box situations. For People that bought Half-life 2 and episode 1, some of the value was gone. It was still an easy purchase to make though.

I have the exact same problem as you... I tried out Bumper Jumper and saw the benefit in using it... But I hated not being able to use the same control scheme while playing Halo 1 (and 2... I guess)

I use Green Thumb controls and am perfectly content with it.

It's not easy being green

I would suggest going into campaign to try out bumper jumper. It took me two seperate tries to finally get used to bumper jumper. It may feel awkward (sp?) at first, but it's worth it in the end.

Yeah, I imagine someone playing at that sensitivity is probably insane because of the reflexes you need to manage such a speed. I'm curious to see if more people reply on here and say that really have noticed a difference from jumping up to 7 or something like that. I'm just worried about trying it because it'd be like learning to play all over again until I adjusted to the speed I imagine. I suppose I can test it out in GAF Customs :lol

Because they are fools!
a few friends hated on it, they are dead to me.

Ahh, you're a smart man. It didn't occur to me that I could test out higher sensitivity in Campaign mode. Perhaps I'll try out Bumper Jumper while I'm at it.

I played Halo 2 at 10...Halo 3 I can only manage 4...

I used to play at 7 but I've cut it down to 4 now; one day after having a little break I fired halo up and found I couldn't handle the speed anymore... I only went for some food! :(

Fuck that. Only pros hop straight into multiplayer.

I had a dream that Shishka switched to 343 Industries. Interpret, GAF. What does it mean?

If you're planing on picking up ODST than there is absolutely no reason to buy the DLC at this point. Halo 3 will probably go down in cost shortly after ODST comes out but if you still want to pick it up you'll have plenty to do with campaign, co-op, and the 5 or so playlists that don't require any DLC. ODST has 3 exclusive maps that may never hit XBLMP so if you're interested in really getting into the MP, buying ODST is the way to go. ODST may even have a better campaign.

The campaign of ODST does seem like it might be more interesting. I was pretty meh on Halo 3's campaign. I wasn't going to get the dlc aside from ODST; I was just planning on the non-dlc playlists in the mean time. I suppose I have things to play now, so I will wait. It's feels a bit like waiting for Halo 3 to release again, though it's already out. I suppose that is the fun part in a lot of ways. It is probably just better to spend the 40$ for Halo 3 on a year of Xbox Live now.
