Chronicles with Weta was announced in 06 right? And then taken off them so that a competent game could be made (harsh way of putting it, my bitterness over the lack of community interaction).

Release date is determined by the publisher, but I am in agreement about wanting it in September.

I agree with the kid on this one. ODST seems fairly predictable while BioShock 2 doesn't and is a fresher franchise than Halo. I can easily throw out a couple of ODST predictions right here for ya: stealth, possible stealth melee moves/stealth kills, new guns, new variants of old enemies, new human characters that may look ugly as sin and lots of the little AI guy helping you out (I forgot his name/nickname; its so forgettable).

Personally, I'm much more interested in seeing more of Rapture and trying out the multiplayer mode.

Dude, there is SO much stuff coming out this year. The volume of shooters alone is just mind-boggling.

At any rate, I saw the "Halo: Reach" image early today and slapped myself repeatedly. Not because I believe it's necessarily true (it may be) or because I believe it's a lame duck of an idea (this would be SO awesome), but because of this thing I wrote on August 13, 2006, for a site some of you guys may remember called H3DA. This article which overall is horrendously written, was called "Great Expectations" and it spelled out the potential the Halo franchise had which was untapped.

This was a prediction/hope I cited in the article:

Now you can't get to that URL because it's archived and hidden on our forum, that said, Cocop and anyone with archive access at AJ can confirm that it exists. A lot of this was just out of my ass. At the time, Halo 3 had been announced only a few months earlier and we knew practically nothing about the game apart from the solitary vidoc and the rumor mill. I was just guesstimating at what I thought might be clever.

The only reason I bring this up is that if this is true, this could be SUPER BAD ASS for reasons mentioned above plus plenty of others. If Bungie does have forum going up for this thing, we have to assume that it's a Bungie property and probably one of the three Halo titles that have been rumored to be required by Bungie as part of their separation agreement with MS.

Dude, having a squad based shooter on Reach would be epic. I just hope that they don't try to make a Gears of War Halo. That would be terrible. But multiple spartans and vast amounts of enemies would promise to make a Reach game awesome.

As far as ODST goes, I'm just hoping M$ doesn't bone us with a 60$ price tag.

Did he recover his gamertag? All he should have to do is go into the customs/forge/saved films and try to load something and it should load of all his map content. For example, if I go straight to the MM lobby it tells me I don't have the maps, I have to go into one of the other lobbies and load the stuff.

We are seeing a new Halo title in E3. The game, Halo Reach, will be a prequel to the original game. This is coming from a very trustworthy, confidential source.

Huh. Interesting. I just talked to my sources, who know some sources that talked with some other sources, and their sources are all the janitors at Bungie, and they're all saying the same thing: Halo 4: The Brutes Strike Back will be announced right out of the gate at E3. And it's by Bunglie.

Evidently it's supposed to be 10x bigger, 10x badder, and yes, 10x MORE BADASS than anything we've ever seen before. Even moreso than Gears of War and Gears of War 2. That's a pretty ambitious claim right there, IMO. BRING ON E3!

Who knows what it could be at this point - if it's even real. I have a hard time thinking that it's related to Chronicles because they've made mention on more than one occasion during the podcast that Chronicles was something they were working, but the product was taken over by MS. If it's still alive, it's not being worked on by Bungie employees.

This Halo Reach business is completely left field to me. Not sure what it could be, but whatever it is, I'm already BEYOND interested. I won't speculate on it too much because I know people in these parts are prone to man-tears if their engorged expectations turn out to be slightly (or considerably) off the mark, but think of these few things which we know about Reach from the trilogy's backstory/novels:

• Reach is a fortress planet for the UNSC, but it is largely covered with forests, lakes and other confierous habitats. It is the diametric opposite of the human, urban environments we'll be getting in ODST.
• It is the site of a major human-Covenant battle where a large number of Spartans were inserted to repel groundforces, an operation that ended with the destruction of Reach.
• The Spartans wore Mark V, a variant of Halo 3's armor permutations. ODST was also a variant if I recall correctly.
• According to the novels, the Covenant forces were largely managed by Elites during this time - one of the primary fleets, if not THE fleet, was lead by the Thel 'Vadam - the Arbiter.
• Reach had some measure of history with Forerunner technology buried well below its surface.
• Also, Reach is completely fucking awesome.

Now again, I'm not saying this to wet any pants, I'm just listing canonical facts about the planet Reach. Take them for what they are. For all we know, this could be a digital version of Monopoly where we buy and sell UNSC bases using Microsoft points for all we know. I'm just listing these as food for thought. Either way, we get more info on ODST and that's enough to write home to mom about.

If it were on Reach and was something other than a standard Halo FPS game - like a squad based shooter - I would immediately be more interested. I agree though, if you tend to get teary-eyed about things not quite going the way you thought they'd go in the video game realm, then by all means, recalibrate your excitement. For me, the excitement and speculation is a part of this whole deal that I fully embrace.
