I feel your pain. I sent my 360 in for repairs the first week of September and it's still in the shop. I'm probably going to end up buying a new one and selling the replacement on eBay :(

Sucks.

Mine will red ring and then be fine for a day. MS support told me it would take 3-4 weeks to get it back. You could look into renting a console.

Oh I trust they'll not sell it on the 23rd either. I was trying my best to convince them. If he hadn't shown up I would have it. Maybe try back later?

I became inspired to call my local K Mart to see what I could get away with and the conversation went like this:

Me: Uhh.. hi, do you guys have any more copies of Halo 3 left?

Sweet old lady: I think I saw some in the back, let me go check...

Me: Sure

Sweet old lady: Yes we do have them here

Me: GREAT!!!

Raggedy old bitch: But we can't sell them till the 25th

Me: COCK TEASE!!! *hangs up phone*

Might be worth it, try and hit em up on a shift change the supervisor will probably be the first one outta there.
 
I would just try to go back when the Supervisor is not there. And like others have said don't try to go so big, just grab the normal edition.

Funny story here too. As I was leaving, I called the Gamestop I preordered Legendary At to see how it will all go down. My questions were answered and I was about to hang up until he said "Oh It's a ton of fun dude."

What? "Oh were you in the beta too?"

"Yeah, but I also have the game too. Perks from working here."

"You're gonna get fired."

"Nah My manager got one too."

"Cool. Bye".

UPS just delivered mine 2 min ago. It died the day before Bioshock so I used the towel trick to get it working long enough to beat bioshock then sent it away. The funny/sad thing is the person at the UPS store knew it was a Xbox just by looking at the box and just now the UPS guy said "I have an Xbox for you" when I answered the door.

There's a perfect store to crash and grab near here. Big open parking lot that's usually fairly empty. Thing is, I don't have a car I'm willing to crash, and it's about 30 secs. from the sheriff's dept. I guess that doesn't make it perfect anymore, or Ocean 11ish.

Holy fuck! To think I could be one of that guy. Just another reason why I need to fill out my application (Mass Effect shall be mine!).
 
My 360 red ringed on August 27 (while playing Bioshock), sent it in with the prepaid box on September 1. I was so relieved to get an e-mail from MS yesterday saying that they shipped my 360 out yesterday.... here is hoping it lasts until I finish the Halo 3 campaign!

Did you get a brand new console or older, refurbished one? Does it by chance have HDMI?

Damn, I sent mine in on September 5. Hopefully they ship it out by Friday cause I might have a chance of getting it on Tuesday.

Longest week ever in video game land. I have three friends who I used to play all-nighter Halo with in high school who all just recently got 360s + Live so we can play co-op :D
 
Has anyone actually managed to get a copy by preying on stupid clerks in non game stores? I would assume that even if you did manage to get as far as the checkout, the item wouldn't be able to be scanned properly. I tried my local Wal-Mart but they have their shit together.

I dont know how to tell if it is a referb but the MFR date is 9-02-07, about a new as you can get. It does not have the hdmi slot on it.

Yeah. 7-11 in California sold my friend one. Standard but hey.
 
During lunch today, I ran next door to the 7-11 and asked if they were selling copies. He's like nope, I don't even like that game. Womp womp womp....I would have grabbed it in a heart beat if I could have.

It works, just sporadically. Keep refreshing it.

Don't bother calling them up either, all the return stuff is completely automated now. I was going to call and see if I could get the return expedited but no luck.
