Oh I totally agree with you dude. Trash Talk is a vital aspect part of ANY game. Shit, when I play Halo 3 the first thing I do is open the conversation with "I hope your mom has aids and if she doesnt have aids im gonna give her aids". Its to get into their head, ya see! And then when we're playing, I play loud obnoxious music through my mic while telling them that i hope that their dad has a vagina so I can rape him so that he has to get a abortion cause that would be totally embarassing for a dude. Its to get into their head, ya see! Then when we're in the end game lobby, I tell them that I hope they get cancer in the eyelids so they can't close their eyes when I'm fucking their sisters. I've been playing fighting games competitively for nearly a decade now and aside from folks on the side clowning with over-the-top commentary for the sake of being ridiculous, there's very little trash talk from other players, if any, even when there is money on the line.

MLG players are just immature shits.

If you lag out, does it count the same as a quit, and therefore will give you negative EXP? Because I just had it happen to me for the second time in over two weeks.

This is a tricky one because I know for a fact I've received negative exp for some of my lag outs but I'm pretty sure I haven't gotten punished for all of them. I have -43 and only one of those was from actually quitting but unless that number updates inconsistently, it doesn't always go down. I've checked it before, after a bad night of drops, and the drops:exp ratio isn't always consistent.

For some reason, my Bnet profile says I have -12 EXP in DLC FFA when I haven't even quit that many times, I'm sure of it. How has this happened?

No, I meant for that playlist; I haven't quit twelve times in that playlist. Two of those "quits" are me lagging out. Or is it that when you quit out of any game in any playlist, it affects your individual EXP for each playlist?

When you quit from a playlist you lose 1 Exp from Overall Exp. and one from the playlist you quit or lagged out of, not EVERY playlist. Doesn't always reflect until the next game gets played. Furthermore because of recent exp/rank breaking because of the MS update some games don't get counted. This means some of your quits, lag outs might not count, and some of your wins might not count.

For me, I went through this long period where I played nothing but SBTB. That plus me not caring about how many times I quit probably added about 100 - 150 points.

Ill explain. Ive lagged out of 6 games so far on my new account (yet to quit a game) that's -6 exp out of 141 games that's around 4% of my games I lag out in (and my connection has been GOOD lately).

Take a long term account of 4000 games and then multiply that number by .04 and you'll get 160 games lost from lagging out. Add in a normal amount of games quit and you should be AT 200 easily.

There. I know it sounds ludicrous but IT HAPPENS whether you want to believe it or not.

I have over 6K games of Halo 3 and have -72 XP...and at least 10 of those were my nephew from about a week ago, lol. I honestly can only recall of actually quitting out of maybe 10 games, if that...a lot of mine have been forced lag outs in Team Slayer and my internet just flat out dying.

The one time I quit was because I was playing you with and Blood in TS on the Pit. Blood lagged out at the very beginning. I was already pondering where the best place to hid would be when you peer pressured me to quit. I felt dirtier than sin.

My connection is TERRIBLE. I can almost guarantee I've never hosted a match, and I know that no matter whose party I've been in and we've went to the theater it's never said I had the best connection. :lol

I always found it amusing in all the H2H games I played that whenever someone quit it always went to the black screen, heh.

I actually think it's worse. Some random, anonymous teenager screaming that I am a 'bad kid' while meleeing my corpse is aggravating but to be expected. Some 20-something playing for money in front of a live audience and on a stream over the Internet displaying the same behaviour is irresponsible and unprofessional. Not to mention the smack-talking they do in interviews and so on. The argument that professional sports athletes talk trash to one another on the field doesn't hold up; they don't do it in pre- and post-match interviews, and they don't have mics on them when they're doing it on the field. The trashtalking I see and hear on MLG (particularly from Str8 Rippin, it would seem) just highlights how immature these guys are, and how far MLG has to go before it will be more widely respected.

But then they do a camera pass of the crowd or I check in on their forums and I'm reminded of the gallery they're playing to, which includes dudes like juices, and it all starts to make sense.

I've never bothered to test my University's connection so I went ahead and did so.

I'm no wiz in what's a good speed but I'm pretty sure those the connection is solid. And that's why I was so pissed last night when having unplayable lag in customs.

Sigh, mental warfare, happens in ALL sports even backyard football. When you enter into a competition of any game/sport you are pitting your intelligence and skill vs an opponents. It feels good to win, bad to lose.

I rarely talk trash on Live ,mostly only in response to trashtalk, because its for fun and sometimes rank. In an MLG event where there's stinky wet cash on the line you'd be damn certain I'd be talking as much shit as I can that wouldn't get me a penalty.

...and I've posted my internet before, in the post your internet speed thread. Low U/L and D/L and high ping. Its a basic low end cable connection, but the thing is it disconnects randomly it doesn't hold a steady connection and thats when I lag out. It'll be fine 5 seconds later. Buffalo NY, Time Warner RR.
