The Crew Delayed to December

Isn't releasing it in December pretty much sending it to die? They may as well just cancel it. It might actually save them more money by doing so.

Why is everyone saying this should have been Farcry 4? I haven't heard anything bad about it. I'm intruiged as that's a day 1 for me. Unless there are some problems I'm not privvy too. I played the PC beta of The Crew and didn't get on with it.

Yeah Far Cry 4 seems pretty good from what I've read and seen. Don't you dare delay it.

Yeah I got scared seeing the first few commenters saying it should of been Farcry 4. If they dealy Farcry 4 does that mean every single big Ubisoft game this year has been delayed? I could be wrong but it certainly feels like it!

Better not delay it. My pre order is fully paid off at Amazon.

First impression of the beta was they needed to delay it.

So much wrong with it. The building blocks are there but it needs a fair bit of refinement, and that's just gameplay.

Going to ignore the awful IQ, horrendous pop-in, shadow chasing and frame drops because 'beta'.

One wonders how much can be achieved with just 3 extra weeks.

Only positive take away was the map, huge yet avoids huge wastelands and boring routes.

Expected.
There is no chance for this game with so many other games coming out.
However, they should have delayed it to Mar or Apr to avoid competition since there is no point in the buying another racing game so soon.
In addition, the graphic that was shown made me questioned what were they thinking in announcing a "beta" for this game.

Gonna assume this is a marketing move and not time for development. A couple months is not going to improve what I played.

I loved the beta despite the game hard crashing my console 9 total times.....was really a lot of fun. I look forward to getting it. Also kind of happy as WoW was my game for november anyways.

Understandable. Honestly, it was going to be compared to Forza Horizon 2, and that's like a GTA V vs SR4. Except, GTA V got released first...
The good thing is that now I can pick it up at launch and support the debs more.

Kind of expected this. That open beta test Ubi was holding was far to close to the release date. Plus they had it going up against another one of their games.

Good move. Between FH2, DC, Project Cars and everything else coming out in November it seems like pushing the release date a few weeks is the smart move. It will pretty much have December all to itself.

Good!

This game has incredible potential, if they do not fuck it up it could be much more enjoyable than any other racer this year, even with the brutal competition.
I love the fact that entire HUD can be disabled, I will be driving around the US just enjoying the sights from cockpit view.

it was tracking pretty decently too from what i hear... hopefully people stick with it.
it's far less crowded of a period, which might help - though sales in december are generally lower, it would theoratically give them more shelf space than 11/11. no way they'd get end caps or circulars in november on that date.

After the FC3 success, I think Ubi is more likely than most publishers to embrace a December release.

Isn't December the busiest month of the year (Christmas)?

Imagine that moment when you realize your game was up against Horizon 2......AND DriveClub.

LOL

I see a bargain price for me and this game in the future. I don't want buyer's remorse after playing FH2.

As an old TDU2 fan, I was excited about the Crew... but after the (admittely brief) beta experience I'm not convinced anymore. TDU was technically clumsy and the "plot" elements were silly, but that and the setting gave it a certain charm. The Crew has none of that.

The story is the most generic boring street undercover crap ever, and the endless stupid cutscenes, loading screens and exposition in the tutorial actively drove me away from the game. It did open up afterwards to some cross-country cruising, but... the US just isn't that interesting compared to Ibiza or Hawaii. I also miss the TDU2 timed activities, which were a great way to explore new roads. I'll keep my eye on the game, but I'm honestly pretty disappointed right now.

Why the fuck wasn't this Far Cry 4?

Ubisoft is on a roll today.

with bullshit

Hell FC4 shouldn't be delayed at all. Out of ubi's output this year its their most promising and most polished game.

Unity is the one that needs a delay, and I am not talking about resolution.

The framerate is not stable and that game simply doesn't look polished.

November and December are busy in terms of business, but something getting released in December gets lost in the shuffle because it's not on anyone's radar. Everyone is set on other things to buy. So they may as well not release it at all.

well, your partially right.... it really depends on the game. some games that are more 'gift-able' tend to do really well in December; like, cheaper games or casual/family titles.

november games for a lot of core games do better since people buy them for themselves on black friday, as an example.

though 'not release at all' is a bit extreme. you can still do better in december than a lot of other months of the year, for example. like the summer.

Don't forget Project Cars. I think that game must have scared Ubisoft as well.

This should bother no one.

There are far, far better racing games to spend your money on this fall. Buy DriveClub, FH2 or Project Cars.
