Showing a lack of understanding what CPU and GPU do. CPUs and GPUs load and process data. Storage stores data. When a CPU needs data, it loads the data from the storage into memory before processing it.Loading and processing are two different things, CPU and GPU is what processes the data (hence their names, duh), while storage drive and memory is what loads the data, so it's an obvious misspelling on his side, but I don't see a reason why people can't make jokes about it, actually misspells like that are the best opportunity to have some fun.
It is very very clear they are talking about data processing, not graphics processing but the speed at which data can be moved from storage and processed. It is 100X faster on PS5 when compared to PS4."In order to further enhance the sense of immersion in games, we expect to improve not just the resolution, but the speed of games. For example, through a custom‐designed high‐speed SSD, we plan to realize game data processing speeds that are approximately 100 times faster than PS4."
"Game load times should be much shorter, and players should be able to move through immense game worlds in almost an instant."
They need to dial this shit back until they can show some games that look and run 100x better
I don't care what they said, that's what I'm saying. All this talk is gonna be embarrassing when they show 1440p 30fps piles of shit
I like your optimism, I've been playing some of my favourite games of all time over the past ten (10) years but apparently many people echo the sentiment that there is "nothing to play"...
Looks like their marketing is working well on ppl.
Judging from the reactions to this thread, I agree. Microsoft's aggressive marketing feeding off tribalism is remarkably effective.Looks like their marketing is working well on ppl.
The processing speed of the PS4 is 1,6GHz.
So 160GHz processing speed because of secret sauce SSD?
Yeah just marketing bullshit talk.
Sony has a narrative for their power increase, XBox doesn't.
M.2 NVMe is not a proprietary interface. Is anyone else slightly alarmed that Sony is foisting upon us yet another (mostly) proprietary storage solution but we’re all somehow eating it up this time?

it's ok for it to be a whole thread dedicated to trolling PS5?
Why does the PlayStation 5 threads titles keep being changed from the names of the articles but it's ok for it to be a whole thread dedicated to trolling PS5?
That's pretty strange
You'll be able to buy compatible SSDs from different brands off the shelf. Just gotta make sure the SSD matches the requirements for the PS5. Hopefully compatible drives will be available at launch or near launch, from what I understand they aren't out in the wild yet.
Are you referring to the meme thread? I think the point of that thread was/is to keep it all contained in one place and not spilling over into every next gen related thread, which seems to have worked for the most part. There is plenty of meme'ing in the Speculation OT too, everything seems alright/fair?
What was it before?
Is the new one wrong?
PS5's custom-designed SSD will enable processing speeds that are roughly 100 times faster than PS4.

Changed it to a less clickbaity title, and put the article that did not omit his full quote in the forefront.
As for trolls, report them.
Agree on your first point, but not the second point. The reason it might get locked is because there's 20 or 30 threads started about PS5 SSD, many of them were troll threads without any actual info.So a thread called "PlayStation 5 Is 100 Times Faster Than PS4, Says Sony" is click bait but a thread called "Xbox Game Pass is five times more popular than PlayStation Now" isn't?
Like if I make a thread about PS5 I/O it gets trolled & locked but the Xbox I/O thread stands the test of time

Hold on, wasn’t there a dev that told us open world games were impossible on PS5? Hmm someone’s lying here...

His statement was quite very clear. There is no room to misinterpret it or claim it was a misspelling or misunderstanding. The only misunderstanding here is you and your having "fun".

i dont see why anyone would report either thread as clickbait. both are accurate, this is a direct quote from a Sony's CEO. just because someone got triggered by the truth doesnt mean we have to appease them. they need to grow a pair.Nobody reported the GamePass one as clickbait.
Nobody reported the GamePass one as clickbait.
Proof?Because there isn't a group of PS5 fans huddled up in one place planning attacks on any & everything that paints Xbox in a good light.
Microsoft will find it difficult to show their obvious power advantage to the mass gamers, but sony will find it very easy to show how much faster their ssd drive is compared to the xbox.
Cheers!!!!That's helped me alot. Thank you for that.

Ask any mod have I ever reported a thread or post & ask any member have they ever got any messages from me about another member
Reporting is petty childish shit by default.i dont see why anyone would report either thread as clickbait. both are accurate, this is a direct quote from a Sony's CEO. just because someone got triggered by the truth doesnt mean we have to appease them. they need to grow a pair.
just my two cents.

Faster storage helps in everything. The faster you can move a lot of data, the faster you can work on it that is why bandwidth keeps increasing. 8 core 16 thread Zen 2 CPU in next gen consoles offer those opportunities for advanced AI, advanced physics, advanced destruction, advanced interactions etc. Next gen consoles have more than 5x CPU performance increase. Also people wanted faster loading times. Developers also wanted a move from HDD to SSD because that offers more possibilities for game design not possible on current gen, even though most thought it wouldn't be possible at first. The faster you can move a lot of data also means the less data you have parked in RAM waiting to be used.Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't vast majority of people here wanted from next-gen games advanced AI, advanced physics, advanced destruction, advanced interactions etc. not so long ago? Things the SSD cannot help with? I thought people didn't want pretty looking but empty and dead worlds all over again?
There is no genuine concern. Games stream in assets on the fly currently. During that demo didn't you see the world crumbling when the character was flying through it?And once the SSD hype took off some people brought up genuine concerns that if you stream the assets on the fly they will be static, non-interactive ones, or the GPU won't be even able to show all the details, and well, the UE5 showed that's exactly the case...
Next gen consoles have 3.5+GHz 8 core 16 thread Zen 2 CPU. That is a proper generational leap that allows for vastly more advanced physics and A.I, animation and vastly more interactive world. But it is up to developers now to make it happen. So I don't know, maybe at the end of the day that's what people truly want, pretty pixels and nothing more. Well I know I don't, I want to see another technical jump comparable to HL2 and Crysis, and that's not what SSD can help to achieve. We will see in the upcoming months how it plays out, there are some devs who did marvelous things on PS3/X360 but the Jaguar cut their wings this gen, but I believe they can deliver what I personally consider as true "next-gen".

That's a whole different discussion not in the purview of this thread. If you want to discuss Unreal Engine 5, tag me in a discussion in that thread. The question is in regards to deformation. When a rock falls it’s the same rock just moving in space. Same shape and whatnot, just moving in the scene. Destruction is just multiple unchanging models that looked like the one whole model, no real change happens to any one model. Their tech would need to work differently for things that need to move, such as the player model, or foliage, which is why they demo didn’t focus on those things
yeah its 100x if you naively believe that next gen games will still stick to using mostly 512 and 1024 textures.
What's actually going to happen is that 4k textures will be used alot more. So "100x" is just pure marketing.
