Can I suggest you to try a spiky and trimmed mowhawk-like haircut sometime? Short hair, spiked and fixed with wax or gel, a little bit longer on the top of your head (half an inch to an inch max).
Just a suggestion of course. It might work on you instead of just trimming all your hair to the same size.
