If black pales you out too much, blond will wash you out too much depending on the shade. You could try a darker shade, which might look better if you have paler skin.

I say go light golden brown/dirty blonde! That would look better compared to the usual blonde colour.

I usually have black/dark brown hair and wanted a big change. I usually wear retro-type hairstyles (I had short straight bangs forever, etc), so I wanted to do a Marilyn Monroe type color. When I went to the salon, my hairstylist suggested a light ash brown with blonde highlights (not the stupid chunky kind, but the "natural" thin-type highlights). It turned out awesome! Although I'd still like to go peroxide blonde one day...

My advice is to never ever ever bleach out your hair on your own. Mine turned an earthy shade of orange, and it cost over $200 at the salon to get it back to normal. That was a sad day.

Yeah, I agree. Don't dye your hair on your own, EVER! I know because I change my hair a lot. I used to be a redhead but I like being a brunette.

i used to dye my hair a lot in high school, but i grew out of that after a while. i find that people usually look best in their natural hair colour anyway. besides, dyeing too much can really damage your hair.
