Guys, I have a strange request.

As someone who has never asked for a haircut in English, how would you tell your barber/stylist you want your hair to look like this:

290pts7.jpg

Over here we just tell them what trimmer size we want ("# 3 arriba, # 1 a los lados, peinado hacia el frente") and that's that. But seeing as I will be relocating to Texas, of all places, and English is not my primary language, I honestly have no fucking idea how this haircut is called or even requested.

And no, I will not grow it out or I'll look like a white Corbin Bleu.
You should probably just ask for the same thing, just translated. I say "#2 sides, trim on top" and you've seen mine right? I don't know though, I don't ever get it that short. I'm sure there's some gay guy you can charm with your PR accent and show em the pic on your phone :).

Fade, keep it dark. Thats the cut I have in my pic. Looks somewhat similar to yours.

And oh yea, get ready to pay out the ass. I'm past spending $15 on a cut every 3 weeks.
I'm not that far, I pay $12 every 3 to 4 weeks. :\

How come I didn't think of this :o

*snaps himself some more*

And I know I'm probably opening a Pandora's box but, is it customary to tip your hairstylist over there? (I don't do it here)

Maybe kinda random question but did you see the movie Beaufort? If so, I'm curious if you feel it's a good representation of what it shows. I was really impressed by the movie but it would be cool to hear an opinion from someone more knowledgable about the issues at hand.
I'm not really in a position to talk, since I'm in a rather supportive role, but I think that in a way it does. It's a movie copies life copies movie, there are so many films and cliches about the army, they became real.

Do you really have so many sexy female soldiers?
I guess :P

Damn gingers...

Is there any reason that people with red hair get called that?

I spoke to my sister about it and she just said that it kind of has a general negative connotation to it.

I am curious.

You remind me of Iceman from the X-Men movies.

Taken as a compliment.

America in general is one tip-happy place. I don't really know why, but generally yeah, it's customary to give your stylist a few bucks if they did a decent enough job. I usually tip them like $4...

1) by clippers
2) cut your own hair dammit
3)$$$

How the hell would I do a fade on my own head? :D

Maybe if I cut it even on all sides, but I don't know. I think it would look weird. I'll try it when I'm really strapped for cash.

Holy shit $4? That might hike up the haircut price to almost $20 :\

Oh well. Time to consider tnw's advice more seriously.

I usually add a 15% tip for my haircuts (former amount of sales tax in Toronto). I dunno if that's even good enough, but I hate the idea of tipping. It should be abolished.

The only real reason tipping is expected at such places is because their employers are paying them crap to begin with. Pass the screwing onto the customers.

These are some very recent pictures of me and some colleagues during the party at Sony's PlayStation Day on May 6th. I'm the one with the short hair and the white shirt, obviously. I cut my hair this very short for the first time and it turned out pretty well, if I say so myself.

Taken as a compliment.

I hadn't heard of that term before I saw the South Park episode about it. I think that's what most people are referencing when they say it. I think it's a british thing so I've never heard it used here unless they're talking about South Park.

I recognized the uniform, I have several friends who are in the army, after making aliyah.

My gf is in Israel now, working as a paramedic for the MDA.

Keep up the good work there!

Also my latest practice mix since I can't find the DJ thread:

DJ Slam - 05.08.2008 Techno.mp3

Yea I know it's sloppy, it's all new music to me and this is basically me practicing with the songs feeling them out so I can adjust to it. I usually only do hiphop music.

Really good techno songs for fans of the genre, all female vocals too.

wow there are some guys on here good enougth looking to turn me gay

Great, picture time. I love pictures, for certain..

Washington DC, because I'm a smooth operator.

It was really windy. The whole road (Blue Ridge Parkway) this time had trees all over it. Surprisingly, the road was not closed. It definitely should have been, I had to weave back and forth as though it were an obstacle course.

Here's me in a tree, on a Carolina mountain. I just like the colors.

It's an adventure into the unknown. Well, the only thing I did know was that a frozen death likely lurked beneath. Not used to ice, being from Florida and all.

Along the way to California, you must pray at each wayshrine in order to achieve +10 to exploration.

The water was freezing, I was really drunk and had no coordination whatsoever. It wasn't such a good thing. I see how people drown!

But those were days of adventure! Exploration! Intrigue! Mild plot twists!

I mean, think about it. What in the world are the carrots doing on the rabbit's feet? I never could understand that picture, so I always put it in the bathroom to confuse guests.

Just recently became beard-less for the first time in about a year and a half. I think I look better with a beard, but after a bit of a trimming accident, I just went for it -- even got a dorky haircut, too. It's pretty funny seeing the reactions of friends and co-workers, since a lot of them have never seen me without a beard.

A week later and I'm still not used to it!

You look younger with the beard!

I think I look about my age (24) either way. Though, I DID get carded for the first time in a while the other day...
