It's because they are customization games first and manager games second. I like their games, but I wish they tuned the systems to need some management and strategy like the older management games. For reasons I don't quite understand yet, Frontier's Planet Coaster and Planet Zoo games never grabbed me like Rollercoaster Tycoon (especially the second game) and Zoo Tycoon (the first game). Maybe it's the same reason why Cities: Skylines never grabbed me the way Sim City 3000 or Sim City 4 did.
I remember briefly trying Planet Coaster, but I was disappointed because it felt too sandbox-ish for me. I like things with freedom and I don't mind sandbox, but to discover a game, having an actual campaign with clear goals etc is more entertaining and easier to get into, rather than just building stuff. It's because they are customization games first and manager games second. Ah, that might actually be why! It's because they are customization games first and manager games second. I like their games, but I wish they tuned the systems to need some management and strategy like the older management games.
Build a wilder world in Planet Zoo 2. Create distinctive zoos around the globe filled with awe-inspiring animals, including fully aquatic and flying species, before taking your experience beyond the zoo to release your animals into expansive Wildlife Reserves.
The Zoo Tycoon reboot that launched with the Xbox One had this. It was a bad game though unworthy of the Zoo Tycoon name. Would be nice for a "real" one of these to have that feature though, I completely agree.Another thing I always wished games like this had, is a mode where you can actually walk around (as a character, not just a free cam) in your park, to explore it an enjoy it in an immersive way. It doesn't seem like something that should be too hard to implement, so I'm surprised it's never a thing.

Yeah, I hate it... Not sure why they still use it when it's been cracked. The aquariums look sick- too bad I won't buy a Denuvo game.
