We have this thread every week, and last week i think the IRON GIANT thread took its place as a 'cry' thread :P

So, GRAVE OF THE FIREFLIES etc etc

SPOILERS

As a child?
Land Before Time. (momma dying scene holy shit)
Radio Flyer (abuse was powerful I guess)

Since:

The Green Mile (damn, really sad)
Dancer in the Dark (the final scene is probably the saddest thing I've ever seen, holy fuck is it sad. The way Bjork's voice cracks when she screams "I can't breath" is unreal)

Eternal Sunshine and the Spotless Mind. And I cried at King Kong as well, damn it I don't care if I already knew what was going to happen. Jackson's Kong was so humanlike, it was too damn sad.

Dumbo, when
his mother is stroking him through the bars with her trunk and that song is playing...
gets me every time.

EDIT:

T2

The only time I think I shed a tear in a movie theatre was seeing Forrest Gump. Recently, I saw this movie Uncommon Valor on TV. I didn't shed a tear but it's a surprisingly emotional ending for a straight up action/war movie. There are others that are really sad too (Green Mile and King Kong definitely watered my eyes)

Let's see.

E.T when I first saw it as a kid in the theater. That one got to everyone back then, so eh.

These are more current ones I can remember.

Grave of the Fireflies
Iron Giant
Field of Dreams
50 First Dates - Saw that with my fiancée and it got to me.

Oh and get this. I balled my eyes out at Gladiator.

So yeah, I'm a big pussy.

Bormir's death
the end of ROTK
Major League when Wild Thing starts playing for Ricky at the end. I dont know why that always chokes me up but it does.
Braveheart

I know there are more sappy ones but nothing comes to mind at the moment.

That's exactly what I was going to post. :p (It was my thread.)

Anyways -

The Iron Giant
Titanic
The Empire Strikes Back
Unforgiven
Leaving Los Vegas

When I was 6, I remember crying at the end of All Dogs Go to Heaven of all things :lol I can even remember my mum finding the situation mildly amusing, after all it was a pretty silly premise for a film.

Apart from that I can't remember crying to any films, but I did cry after watching the Futurama episode about Fry's dog :(

Movies that made me cry:

Forrest Gump -
At the end when Forrest is talking to Jenny's grave. Plus his mom's death is pretty sad too

Passion of the Christ - basically the last 30 minutes of the movie

Movies that bring water to my eyes (but no crying):

ROTK -
When Sam says "I can't carry the ring for you Mr. Frodo, but I can carry you!" Plus when Aragorn says "my friends...you bow for no one"

Spiderman 2 -
At the very end when MJ says "go get em tiger." Gets me everytime, because it's the perfect way to pay homage to the comic

Boyz N The Hood -
Ice Cube's speech at the end

Radio Flyer -
The part where they get the machine to fly while the dad is trying to get them. Oh man..

A few common choices, such as Titanic, have struck me as very sad.

The one that is sure to make me cry however, is the end of Contact when
Eli is at the hearing and she acknowledges that scientifically she admits her story is unbelievable. But she can't retract it.
That moment and her short statement to follow always get me.

Ok, ok.

Schindlers list

Yeah, definitely Schindlers List was a tear jerker. So was Saving Private Ryan.

Hmmm, what else:

Shawshank Redemption
The Passion of the Christ
Braveheart
The Green Mile
50 First Dates
Forrest Gump
The Notebook (didn't really cry but it was kinda sad nonetheless)

Hell, there are probably others I am sure but I can't think of them at the moment. I may not cry at all of these, but I may get teary eyed.

I own all of those movies except for 50 First Dates and The Notebook. Wife and I recently watched The Notebook.

I'm a huge Futurama fan, but I hate that episode because of the absolutely brutal, heartwrenching ending.

Lost in Translation - My all time favorite. The passion this movie exudes is magical.

Thank god I'm not the only one. I started sobbing at the end of LIT, not moist eyes, but full blown crying fit.

I cry at any animal movie where an animal dies or something sad happens. Even if it's just a happy reunion between animals I cry. I really want to see March of the Penguins but I haven't been able to build up the courage to watch it yet after I heard about there being deaths in the movie.

My husband tears up at the slightest thing. He is so sensitive to mushy things that he cried during Gwyneth Paltrow's Oscar speech when she thanked her sick Grandpa.

This is nothing compared to the scene when
he finds out that Jenny's son is his, and asks if he's challenged in the same way he is. Hanks' expression is so incredibly perfect in this scene, it's wrenching to look at his face. Truly one of the highest points of his magnificent career. That scene is just flawless.

I've cried in way too many films to even remember, but here's a few I can think of off the top of my head:

The Lord of the Rings (too many moments, but the Ride of the Rohirrim and The Grey Havens especially)
Grave of the Fireflies (the dance)
The Sweet Hereafter (Polley's speech)
Nobody Knows (the train ride)
The Deer Hunter (a different kind of roulette)
Ikiru ('Not my stomach...')
Raging Bull ('I coulda been somebody..., I coulda been a contender')
Schindler's List (the red dress)
Saving Private Ryan ('Earn this')
Tokyo Story (he's gone)

There are many more, but I can't think of them ATM.

Definately the end of Schindlers List. Saving Private Ryan had me all misty eyed. The Professional (aka Leon) had me close.

A lot of things have gotten my eyes watery, including sadly the first pokemon movie (shut up, I was in middle school, I kept up with the show and had an attachment to pikachu through smash bros...)

The only two things that I remember that actually have made me cry though are the futurama episode with the dog and this corny dog movie called My Dog Skip that stars Frankie Muniz.

I guess it goes to show that pets have a big effect on me. I had a dog that looked very similar to that jack russel in MDS

Spongebob Squarepants, sometimes having kids can suck when you have to make sacrifices like this, and I cried in mourning for the 2+ hours of my life lost. :P

If your kids make you watch that, you're in good position; they have some taste lol. Spongebob is pretty good, espeically when compared to the terrible cartoons on today. Whatever happened to real cartoons like Ducktales? But that's an entirely different thread lol.

I forgot to add Saving Private Ryan.
There's a part where they're resting in the city ruins, and the medic starts talking about his mom; he basically says he used to pretend he was sleep so he didn't have to talk to her. That part is disturbing on so many levels.

that futurama ep. is very depressing. cant say i cried to itthough.

movie wise;
schindlers list
ai
million dollar baby
... um, there may be more, but thats all i can think of

How could anyone not mention these two movies?
