Y'know, I just wondered.

How does Isabelle enforce these ordinances?

Water four flower and pluck two weeds a day or she breaks one of your toes?
No, she secretly does the extra work to meet the criteria when the new day strikes.
*sniffles* what a hard worker.

Well I've never played an animal crossing game so my opinion is only based on her design, but I don't like it. Could also be because I've read some disturbing things from forum people about her..

I like Isabelle & i agree she is becoming more of icon in the Nintendo Universe, however i don't love anyone in AC-NL as much as Bluebear :3

Isabelle is appearing in a lot of high-profile stuff. Monster Hunter 4, Mario Kart 8, Smash Bros., the New 3DS campaign. And the merchandise was all over the place well before then. It just kind of hit me, thinking it all over: Nintendo's really positioning her as a staple character. Not just for Animal Crossing, but as an all-purpose brand ambassador.

Isabelle is certainly going to be in Smash 5 if not Smash 4 DLC. While she has a good design, she really doesn't have much of a personality. I mean she doesn't really say or do anything outside of the beginning. From that point on she's just a glorified menu. Pretty much all the other NPCs have such vibrant and distinctive personalities, but Isabelle is just kinda there.

What's not to love? Isabelle is absolutely adorable, and on top of that, she is incredibly helpful in New Leaf.

Edit: Also, as far as Animal Crossing goes, she is definitely one of the most recognisable characters (along such legends as K.K., Tom Nook and Resetti of course).

Nintendo realised that they don't have enough females and are pushing Rosalina and Isabelle now. I think it's good, Isabelle is cool.

Certain side characters get a push from Nintendo to add more depth to their portfolio. Some past examples include Yoshi, Wario and Luigi and it's currently happening to Rosalina, Isabelle and Toad.

O think the saddest part of ANY videogame that I've ever played was when I deleted my Animal Crossing save (it was really a new game, I just wanted to change the city's name).

Isabelle made me feel SO guilty... =(

(Serious, she makes a fucking drama about it, it's impossible to not feel guilty)

New Leaf was a huge hit for Nintendo, and she's the face of that game, so it's not surprising. She's cute.

More Animal Crossing love is always a good thing in my book, but I do wish they'd spread the attention around to some other AC characters. The animal villagers especially, I want more merch of them!

She's cute as fuck and at this point they probably have sales data to confirm she's worth focusing on. Also animal crossing kinda needed a spokesperson character that wasn't nook or the villager (who is different for everyone)

Hell I kinda want Isabelle's Mario kart dlc and I'm pretty much completely done playing that.

I think she's annoying and boring, but I totally understand why Nintendo like her : she has such a cookie-cutter and squeaky clean image that it's really easy to use her in everything.

I love the idea of her character as much as the visual design. A puppy who tackles the fundamentally boring work of being a secretary / mayoral assistant with the same kind of infectious enthusiasm as a puppy chasing a ball. Can't help but make you smile.

EDIT: Of course, the name 'Isabelle' when her head literally is designed to look like a bag of bells is very clever too. She's just a great character. Much better face for the series than bloody Tom Nook.

Yeah, it's a horrible feeling. I will never, ever be able to delete my town. She practically has a nervous breakdown at the thought of being deleted. It's emotionally manipulative by Nintendo, but by god it works.

I honestly can't believe how a lot of people just delete their towns willy-nilly to "start over", it's one time I kinda agree with the game's general overbearing nature when it comes to mostly simple menu items.

Now, the "wow you haven't played in a long time :((((" guilt trip, screw that.

I didn't get the impression she was ditzy. She'll stick around -- the AC games are few and far between so it makes sense for them to give her exposure in between titles as it gives AC exposure as well. It's a part of the evergreen strategy.

Yep, Isabelle is a great character and I'm happy she got promoted to the all-stars team. I'm sure if SSB had started development a little after it actually did, Isabelle would be a playable character.

Good for her! She does a great job at my AC town hall too.

Nintendo's simply messing around with the franchise switchboard, and I love it:

There cases you mentioned, but also...

Link in Mario Kart DLC
Star Fox in Steel Diver (via Blue Marine)
Steel Diver in Mario Kart (via "Steel Driver" kart)
F-Zero in Mario Kart DLC
NES Remix 1+2

Samus, Peach, and Fox in Bayonetta 2
Several more Monster Hunter cameos, if memory serves
Mario and Link along with associated characters in Scribblenauts: Unlimited for the WiiU

The funny thing is, there's little such cross-franchise action happening with Pokémon (there was Pokémon Conquest, I guess?) with the exception of Smash Bros., since there's three or four companies that handle that franchise.

Animal Crossing New Leaf is one of the best and fastest selling games on the 3DS and it made the series an even bigger worldwide success than Wild World did on the DS.

That's my guess on her being prominently featured in recent months. She's basically a marketable mascot for one of Nintendo's most successful game titles this generation.

F this thread... now I have to find where I put my 3DSXL and have her tell me how terrible it is that I haven't played in a year or so...
