Metal Gear Solid 4 HD - Console Resolution / FPS Specs Announced

Honestly kinda curious to see how MGS4 runs on the S1.

that is definitely gonna be the most interesting one for sure.

the other ports will just be varying form of sharpness lol, but the Switch 1 port could have some unique optimisations.

I almost expect frequent framedrops tho

*in docked mode, and when not bandwidth limited
We have two examples with RDR1 being an open world game and Alien Isolation a more linear game, in both cases better Resolution and FPS in docked mode and better FPS and almost the same res in handheld as the PS3 version.

hence me saying exactly what I said.

in handheld mode it's almost on par in raw GPU power, but with more modern features which made Gen9 ports possible.

and in docked mode it's like a 1.7x boost over the PS3.

but the memory bandwidth can get in the way. I think Bayonetta is a good example of that, as all the Bayo games run at relatively low resolutions, probably due to the insanely bandwidth heavy effects.

and it's also probably the reason MGS HD collection had reduced framerates over the PS360 version, since PS2 game ports are notoriously bandwidth heavy due to the transparencies

wtf I know Nintendo under powers of units but the switch one is not as good as a PS3
No Way Wow GIF
Nintendo has been releasing gimped systems for top dollar since the GameCube "failed" and the cronies still gobble it up 🤷🏾‍♂️

Apparently some in-game cutscenes are rendered as video files instead so the size difference for handheld and TV represents the size difference between 1080 and 4k video files.
But why two versions of the software for the same hardware? Download the biggest size and if the screen is TV or handheld, let the hardware just change the resolution. Am I wrong or every game ever did this?

Something wrong is not right

Was this the same for their previous releases on PC?

pretty sure yes.
I assume it's not designed to run above 60. the PS3 version had a 60fps lock with double buffer vsync (so basically ran at 30 or 20 fps most of the time) and I guess all the game logic is designed around that

It's too bad it's going to end up censored and with cut stuff due to licensing and platform change. It will remain only in its whole form on PS3 unless modders on PC manage to restore everything.

"Maximum" output resolution doesn't really say much.
But as long as the framerate is solid and it stays at or above 1440p on base Ps5 I'll be happy.
