Marvel Vs. Capcom Infinite Gameplay Trailer

It's literally a pale version of Ryu's MVC3 character model minus the shadows.

This looks good. Don't really care about the opinions of hardcore fighter fans, as a casual I could see getting this.

Reminds me more of Tatsunoko vs Capcom than Street Fighter x Tekken. Anyway, it looks rough around the edges for sure but this is hype! Love the backdrop, love the supers. So glad to have Marvel back.

I'm digging the look of this game. Unfamiliar with the series and very much out of practice with the genre, so I'm wondering how hard it would be for a new guy to pick up and become proficient? By proficient I mean able to incorporate some level of strategy into my game, rather than simply reacting to attacks and sloppily making my own attempts at offense.

Infinity Gem system looks like X factor but you pick a specific buff instead of a catch all like it was in MvC3.

no assists and sfxt gem mechanic isnt very hype

The problem with SFxT's gems were that there were a billion of them and part of Capcom's microtransaction scheme. This just looks like a pool of 6 gems to select from before the match to customize your x-factor equivalent.

Love the over reactions of it being crap.

I guess you said the same of every other fighter that had a 1 min teaser. Love Gaf lol

I don't know why they rebooted this franchise like this. It has to be because they want to de-associate the X-men from the IP, right? Cause this looks like a regress from MVC3 system just based on what they have said so far.

Apparently there are lot of single player content according to the blog released earlier. Arcade, mission and a cinematic story mode.

Graphics look sick. I'll miss the cel-shaded comic book look of MvC3 though.

Can't wait to see more gameplay, and more importantly, more characters!

I'm not really liking the aesthetic. It reminds me of Contest of Champions. Something about the color palette. I'll probably think differently when the game is out, and I do expect it to look better as time goes on. It looks better than 5 did two years ago at PSX and WAY better than 4 did at reveal.

Ryu looks like he was ripped right out of UMvC3. Although I do like the art direction. X and Ironman look great. Ryu and Captain Marvel needs some work. Early game footage, whatever. Plenty of time to work on those.

However, everybody boo for that tag system. I was okay when the leak mentioned a 2v2 with assists because I actually really like MvC1 (probably my favorite?), but this looks like SFxT with the tagging the partner in mid-combo. Give me the hyper tag team and team hyper combo of MvC1 and gem system from Marvel Super Heroes and then we got us a game.

"Yes, but many people here are dumb and don't know about MSH and how dope it is"

The main SFxT comparison is due to the tagging, the gems are obviously not similar. Although, if the gems are essentially customizable x-factor, they're not really like MSH either.

I for one am liking the direction this is taking. I mostly grew up with a preference for MvC1 over 2, I was never pick on assists in fighting games in terms of "call in a character, have them do a special" stuff. I like this more. The infinity stones thing seems neat too, and it seems similar to a mechanic in a previous Marvel fighter? I'll have to check that out one day.

Also I got some heavy vibes that suggested a mix of SFxT and TvC, both underrated vs fighters at the end of their lives if you ask me. I honestly didn't expect to be so excited for a Marvel game, especially with the superior Mega Man!

i think there is going to be assists like in mvc1 but they can't show them off since they only have 4 characters announced. they are gonna slowly announce new characters throughout 2017.

Is it confirmed there are no assists, or are people just jumping to that conclusion due to the footage? Just wondering if there was an official release with more information in it.

make it more accessible to the casual audience so that it will make money
is probably more likely

For everyone saying the game is early and the visuals are going to improve... you do realize the game is coming out in the matter of months right? Not even a year.... MONTHS.

But hey KOF 14 is getting a graphics patch post launch... why release anything relatively finished these days...

"They put SFxT in Marvel. Man this is not good at all."

They've decided to take influence from a better game than MVC3, this is very good.

SFxT died for the sins of all fighting games and now it bestows its blessing upon MVC Infinite.

SFxT had a few things against it, but the worst thing was the music. I seriously cannot play a fighting game if it has shit music. Also the gems thing was a total bust...

The game looks good at this early stage. Plus alot can be done by the time it releases, so I'm not worried. Hopefully they add some characters that I care about.

People forget how much fun MSH and the 2v2 VS games were back in the day, so I hope this game brings back some of those aspects. The only thing reminiscent of SFxT is the tagging which doesn't bother me.

I'm pretty sure everybody recognizes this footage is early and the game will improve over the year. That doesn't mean people can't critique (hopefully fairly) what they see here - none of us can predict the future. So if someone says "art/animation/etc. looks bad" lets debate on whether you agree or disagree with that assessment right now rather then saying "guys it will look better in 6 months so shut up!" :P

My "hottake" take is that I would have much preferred they went with a more carttony/comic artstyle and the TOTAL LACK OF ASSISTS is kind of a boner killer right now.

EDIT: Though maybe there are now only dedicated assist characters?

Yeah, the other MvC games's gameplay is extremely casual unfriendly considering it's attached to the behemoth license of Marvel. I can see that reducing team size and simplifying gameplay would be a primary goal for a sequel. I just wish they didn't get rid of assists.

Oh well, maybe they can use these assets for Capcom Vs. Capcom someday.

people really need to brush up on game development.

so many times people overreact to early footage only to get BTFO as the game goes forward.

shit tends to improve overtime
