Low Hanging Fruit Remasters/Ports

Arsic

Loves his juicy stink trail scent
It seems odd how many companies just don't put out some really easy or no brainer efforts to take some older games and make them available digitally again.

Some examples:
Breath of Fire 3
Dante's Inferno
Dragon Age Origins

Relatively small teams can do remasters or just ports with resolution upgrades, and folks would buy them.

I know Dante's inferno didn't light the world on fire but I still would really like to try this game since I missed out on it in 2026.

What are some other ones you think should be done that wouldn't need large teams or budgets?

Bloodborne seems like the obvious pick since it can literally already run at 60fps and higher resolution on a hacked PS5 with a patch. Extremely low hanging. So low it could literally be a patch, but people would scramble over themselves to give Sony / From $60.

Also since Capcom is dipping their toes into re-releasing their older games on PC, why not Mega Man Legends 1 and 2?

Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight
Alien Trilogy

Both the above would be quick wins for Nightdive.

Capcom's absurdly brilliant beat em up, Alien vs Predator. The fact that this game hasn't been ported to consoles/PC yet is a crime.

Dante's Inferno
First game that came to mind. And if anyone didnt play it, it's a good GOW rip off a couple notches down the ladder. Think of it as Budget Kratos. The game should be available on any EA Play or GP sub plans.

Make sure to play on harder difficulties because the game not only scales the monster difficulty, but also any traps. If you play on easier skill, the traps are majorly gimped.

Angry Birds.
All the old games and release them on PC too. They used to be an actual problem for Rovio, turned up first in search results so they chose to delist them everywhere. Just so people would find the new super monetized versions instead.
Ironically it ended up wing clipping the franchise and sending Rovio spiraling.

Ah yes big Satan cock in 4K/60

All PS3 exclusives
This is exactly where my mind went when I saw the thread title.

I'd be Day 1 @ full price ($70) for Killzone Trilogy, Resistance Trilogy, Infamous Collection, and LittleBigPlanet collections. I don't even need anything fancy just a minimum of 1080p and 60fps.

Chrono Trigger is oddly absent.

The Arkane games on modern consoles.
Chrono Trigger really is confusing. It would sell a lot and they already have a great PC and mobile port.

The Arkham games already have a modern port on PS4/Xbox One unless by modern you just mean current gen.

The industry is so bloated and "corporate" now that a simple remaster will probably need 250 people, 3 years and $50 million dollars. Then still launch with bugs and issues.
So they focus on games they think have the highest sales potential which I guess doesn't include stuff like Dante's Inferno.

Dragon Age Origins
There was some recent quote by an ex Bioware guy that said he wanted to do a Dragon Age Trilogy remaster like they did for Mass Effect but the problem with DA 1&2 is that it was built on some old-school engine and no one understands how it works anymore.

So they could do it, but it wouldn't exactly be "low hanging fruit" ☹️

Astrobot Rescue Mission.
Would it really cost that much money to get working on the PSVR2?
Other VR (3rd party) developers were able to get their games working.

I agree with you there are plenty of games that are low hanging fruit for remasters, but the issue is that stuff like Dragon Age: Origins use custom game engines that not many on staff even know how to use, and because of that building on them would require more investment than the remaster could recoup.

The games that were using older middleware stuff like Unreal Engine 2-3, there is no real excuse. We should already have had HD remasters of Splinter Cell 1-Chaos Theory.

Burnout.

What won't any of these motherfuckers make a burnout 3/takedown remaster?! And don't start telling me about the Paradise remaster. Thats not a burnout game. Fuck you.

Fucking EA assholes.

I've been screaming for years for an Ape Escape Trilogy.....bring 1-3 and the unreleased in the US Million Monkeys one too (Japan Only).

The two Maximo games would be great ones to do also.

Far Cry 2

The missing WiiU games: Wind Wakef, Twilight Princess, Yoshi's Woolly World

Some 3DS stuff: Luigi's Mansion, Kid Icarus, 3D Land, Samus Returns

Wii: The Trauma Center games, Sin & Punishment, Last Story, Pandora's Tower

Probably the most baffling devision ever is Sony ignoring pretty much it's complete legacy software: Bloodborne, Puppeteer, the God of War Games, Sly Cooper, Ratchet, Motorstorm, Killzone etc.

Konami hurry up and give us remasters for Suikoden 3, 4, and 5 like you did 1 and 2, instead of a fucking phone game.
Suikoden 3 and 4 need a remake. Suikoden 3 have an very strange balance and you go to the same places way too often. Also there are bosses that appear out of nowhere like an normal battle. And Suikoden 4 have that horrible world map that even with an 2x option would make it a slog to play. The only one that can get an simple remaster without problems is 5.

Dante Inferno PC homemade port that dropped on Twitter a month ago is hot fire.

IDK is Sony needs From to sign off on a BB remaster, but it's pretty clear after the DS remake butchering they're not in a hurry to answer their calls. (So glad those dudes are Door Dashing now)

I'd prefer remakes as well, but they won't spend the money to do a proper remake for the Suikoden games, they aren't popular enough.

I mean... Banjo... they are releasing a 60fps widescreen version on the Evercade, while the only currently available version on other systems is still locked to 30fps.

Resistance series
Killzone 2&3
GRADIUS FUCKIN V
Contra PS2 games
Alien: Isolation - On PC i can bump up to high res but a remaster with updated assets and fx would be nice.

Symphony of the Night
"low-hanging fruit" as in "low effort" to make them?

Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD for Switch 2, for example.
I think by ow hanging fruit he means easy pickings. Not necessarily low effort, but easy wins. They're there for the taking and you wonder why they haven't taken the opportunity yet. The stuff in the highest demand that for some reason pubs/devs just aren't doing.
