I have been going for a run in the late evening and noticed some bright stars in the sky and worked out it Venus and Jupiter not stars but now they are gone so I was surprised to see some more bright enough ones to be seen at twilight. they could not have be a planet and it was Altair and the other two bright ones are vega and Deneb making up the summer triangle.

Any one else has any star stores

I could suggest downloading a good starmap app (I use Skyview Lite) so you can visualize where planets, stars, and constellations are located. If you are in the city it may be difficult to track down certain stars, and if you are in a rural area then there is so much more that is visible. I've read that if you are beyond Earth's atmosphere the points of light are brighter and more numerous by magnitudes.

Try star walk 2.
There's a free trial/ads version but it's definitely worth the money.

A few years ago I noticed the same.

Often, it's planets, but sometimes stars. I become a bit obsessed with Mars, Venus, and Jupiter for a while.

Sky Map is a good app for stargazing or Stellarium if want something more polished with IAPs.

Mars was visible as a red dot a few years back, that was a cool time. Isn't the moon supposed to be hit by an asteroid in a few days, something visible with a modest telescope?

I wish we spent more (less, really) energy in keeping the night sky dark by cutting down on streetlight glare and such.
