Being called uncle in South Africa is a term of respect, like saying sir, it doesn't really reflect age and more reflects an older/experienced person. You can be 20 and be uncle or 80.

So younger staff calling you uncle or oom is usually a good thing

It's the same in China, kids calling you Uncle means your a nice older man.

Isn't Unc more a derogatory term for someone older who thinks they can still kick it with the zoomers but it's just out of touch or incredibly cringe.

A great example of an Unc in this case is Cristiano Ronaldo.

Brazilians calls their friends as "dad", if you're over 18 you could be called "uncle" by children, and in schools there's no age to call other "uncle" or "aunt"

Personal facts: I was like 19 or 20 and got the duty of picking a friend's daughter from school. She was very energetic and said something like "uncle Derik, let's go home running!"

Yesterday another friends daughter wanted to see Moana and trade Fifa cards, and I went full fun uncle with her, with gelato, McDonald's and playing in the mall

"Unc", like others have said, started out being a term of endearment for older, friendly dudes. Then it apparently got retrofitted into meaning "uncool".

If it bothers you, just ask them if any of them own or will ever own a house lmaooooooo

My son says I am 'unc" but I don't let them see how much it hurts to be old.

It's very cringe not going to lie. The term needs a standard age to start with. I'm 35 and got called unc by my best friend kid

Almost threw the little cunt out of the balcony

Hahaha always reminds me of this clip. These guys are hilarious, its a podcast with some former NFL players.

"Don't unc me when Im still unc'in mfrs!"

Im 42. I probably am unc. Feels bad man.

I would mock them for their "low battery mode" behaviors of shortening an already short word like uncle to unc

The younger gen really is an easy pushover with just their behavior. Don't hesitate also to call out their short attention span anytime you're in a meeting and they're looking at their cell phones.

Call them "baby" then wink... That'll make them cringe.
Are you trying to get me sent to HR?

It's older than this. But they've for sure reused early 2000s terms to mean someone like me saying I like Tekken lol

I honestly don't think it's anything bad. It's just silly banter in the grand scheme of things from getting to know us.

It's hate speech. Demand your company intervene and if they don't then sue for negligence and emotional trauma. Or just tell those interns to get off your lawn.
