Halo 4 leaked?

This was the video that left me very impressed with the visuals, specifically the outdoor scenes. Where the game lacks in sharp and clean IQ
EDIT: ^^^ that screenshot shows the exact location I was describing heh

it looks very clean to me though.
Not 'sharp'. Then again, you can't really have sharp and jaggy free this gen, and i'd much rather have a softer look and a consistent image with no flickering pixels crawling around, plus i don't think going for the extra sharpness always makes sense when you're going for realistic visuals.

Anyway, when i said the IQ is very good, i was saying that in regards to AA; as usual with x360 the game is lacking AF and some textures appear to be less than crisp, but overall i think it will look very good on my tv.

When it's about console AA people act like there are games out there that are crystal clear and sharp like a razor.

God of War 3 has amazing IQ for most of its length, though. But I think it's the only game that truly outshines others as far as image quality goes (even though sometimes textures and other elements are bland). Forza Horizon could be a contender.

It's really hard to get a very clean image even on better hardware; people always exagerrate how clean some console games can look.

Having said that, Halo 4 is impressive indeed, even by God of War 3 standards.

Yeah...the game will be quite a looker, no doubt. By 'sharp', I was referring to hi-res details on surfaces when viewed upclose and I won't be surprised if Halo4 doesn't have that.

But personally, in no way does that even begin to diminish how freaking rich the environments are in graphic fidelity and how the lighting ties them all together; the outdoor levels are just chockful of natural details and you'd be hardpressed to find a repeating texture. No jagged edge or protruding rock look out of place. Even the ship wreckage that you drive through packed some nice geometric and shadow details (don't think the engine does real-time ambient occlusion but they sure put in lotsa effort in making those scenes not look flat!); 343's got some really talented environment artists working on the game.

I know some people allow themselves to get caught up with IQ concerns but I care more for a great balance of composition, scene lighting, color, etc that result in natural-looking visuals (one of the reasons why I love Witcher 2). I'm assuming you'll be able to take and upload photos of your campaign playthrough like in previous Halo games. Can't wait to see some beautiful snapshots taken!!

Edit: some shots I took off a gameplay vid (no spoilers):

Such a stupid thing to play this on "easy" just say you can be the "first to finish" despite the fact hundreds of 343 staff have lived this game for three years, dozen more playtesters have already done it and so on and so fourth. It just ruins the experience ultimately. The mentality of people who seed games early and get them from broken release dates is astounding.

I for one cannot wait to beef this game up to Heroic, smash through it solo and then roll with three friends for Legendary glory. Having seen the early footage has only wet my appetite to get a new home system. Bigger TV, surround sound, there goes my Christmas present.

To be honest, I don't like Halo at all.

Never got into it; I find it somehow boring.

But then again, to each to its own.

Wow so it really leaked? This seems to happen a lot. Good thing everyone gets halo for mp mostly. Most of these pirates will probably by the game anyway, unless you can play pirated games online.

It's possible but not before the official release.

I'm not sure I like that helmet point of view. I mean, do we really need something taking away some space? We already have a huge gun right in front of us.

Other than that, it's drop dead gorgeus, incredibile. And it's a blurry and overly compressed screengrab.

And that's why I haven't visited a dutch gaming site in years. Bunch of asshats.

Luckily, no-one in the comments even gives a tiny rat's ass about the actual source of the leaks.

:) you're absolutely right. They don't give a damn.I just checked some Dutch sites to see if they are picking up this news, and well...they did. Guess is quite hard for them to post news without making mistakes.

You're kidding right?

Also, they aren't implying the NeoGAF member has leaked the game, just that the pictures of the discs are his.

Anyway, who cares.

They said that the game discs are his, and the news is referring to the Halo 4 leak. Seems to me that they're accusing the wrong person here

2 Other direct feed pics I found on B3D.

*Spoilers* Not story wise, but environment wise.

FXAA confirmed:)

EDIT: 343i... You're making the wait till release painful. Damn those filthy pirates for playing the game before me!

Why are you happy that they use FXAA?

FXAA is a cheap post process solution and not as good as MSAA.

No. Just no. Even FXAA quality (for PC) is too blurry compared to any form of MSAA. And let´s not get started with FXAA console... it´s a no contest.

Like I said... 7 year old console. Running out of juice. No time for MSAA.

You have a choice... No AA or FXAA...

It's why it exists in the first place.

IGN says to avoid forums like neogaf to avoid Halo 4 spoilers.

Yeah... But they conveniently left out their own. Uh-huh.

The amount of blurring depends on implementation, and what it boils down to is whether you prefer dealing with slightly blurred image or more jagged edges. In any case, it beats previous Halo games' solutions, and from what we've seen, Halo 4's IQ looks very good.

Yea, if you are dumb enough to jump in the spoiler thread when not wanting to be spoiled.

Yeah... But they conveniently left out their own. Uh-huh.

If you watch the video the guy says we are monitoring our comments section.

I would say the community here is pretty good about not putting spoilers without spoiler tags. IGN on the other hand leaves little to be desired.

See, that's the thing. Halo 4 looks so great and yet has a kind of clean, colorful look the other games in the series did. No drab filters or anything like that. It's truly a masterpiece.
