PS Blog: Grand Theft Auto VI plays best on PS5 November 19, Pro Enhanced

So because of PS5 Pro it will be 100% true until the PC release.
Why PC Versions are Delayed
  • Revenue Strategy: Parent company Take-Two focuses on console platforms first, where the largest share of high-priced sales and GTA Online revenue originates. [1, 2]
  • Piracy Protection: Maximizing the initial, critical sales surge happens on locked-down consoles where game piracy is not an immediate factor. [1]
  • Hardware Optimization: Consoles have fixed hardware, while the PC ecosystem has thousands of different configurations and driver combinations. Polishing the game for PC requires extra months of development. [1, 2]

Playstation 5 pro version yeah but I can't imagine the xbox series x version being noticeably worse than the standard playstation 5 version.

Time will tell.

Most families don't have 7-800 to spunk on a toy.

Reminds of the thread about a $1000 PS5. They will not buy it. This place is detached from reality.
7-800 I'm not sure but I think a lot of people are gonna buy Switch 2 for OOT which may end up costing 600 or 700 for them. So PS5 Pro for GTA is not impossible. Especially with the people who claim to have set out this gen due to no games. Nostalgia can bring them back.

We need to wait and see whether Sony will offer promotions to attract more buyers, which I think is very possible. They could even release a bundle that includes the game.

And I totally agree that most people wouldn't spend that much on a console. However, I also think GTA VI is something completely different from anything else in this industry. As of last year, Sony still had at least 35–40 million active PS4 users. I can easily see a significant number of those players upgrading to a $600 digital-only PS5 just to play GTA VI.

Gaming has always been a luxury hobby, but it's a luxury within reach for a lot of households, especially around xmas with retailer deals. GTA6 is going to be the biggest gaming event of this generation and last gen too. It probably won't move consoles like the franchise did in the PS2/PS3 era, because the market and economy are different now. But it will absolutely shift units. Plenty of gamers that have held off upgrading will finally decide that this game is worth buying a PS5/XSX for.

Just PR bullshit , same thing will be in series x
Don't forget that sometimes the series X has better loading. The reality is that games will never have the need to load the much data that quickly - having an SSD In general, even sata, providing consistent stateful access is the game changer period.

But what if they don't have any consoles to sell?

You know damned well Sony is going to be pumping these boxes out for the games this fall.

Bet your accounts on it.

Say what you will about "durrr Xbox has fast ssd too" when a game takes advantage of the PS5 like Spider-Man 2 it has no loading, it's like a NES game. It's a qualitative and quantitative difference. The difference between "practically no loading" and "no loading" is actually noticeable. It's not the SSD it's the built in hardware on the PS5.

No shit. Ofcourse they will prioritize optimizing for the platform where their game will actually sell.

True for every single 3rd party game but despite this fact everyone goes crazy about digital foundry video showing a few FPS differences between the platforms thinking it's Sony's "secret sauce"

We live in a reality where, just months ago, the iPhone 17 launched at $800 and sold somewhere around 22–25 million units in its first month, even though most buyers already had a relatively recent iPhone.

It surprises me that people still underestimate consumer spending power. Even when they can't really afford it, people often find a way. I'm not saying that's right or wrong, just pointing out the reality of it.

People don't pay for phones by digging the money out of their pocket. It's usually discounted and then broken up into payments on their cell phone bill which they pay anyway.
