Graphical Fidelity I Expect This Gen

23 will be 🔥🔥

What do we think boys? Are the water waves better than crimsons?

I never played the game but i heard about those tailing missions and i never liked the old ac combat (not that the new one is much better but it is closer to my taste).

The graphic upgrade doesn't look big enough to convince me to play an untouched old ac game.
The trailing mission complaints were overblown. 90% of the time you will be at the sea hunting down pirates, attacking forts and exploring islands. the story missions are few and far between. The combat gets a lot more fun when you upgrade your pistols and start adding them in your melee combos. iirc, some special abilities would kill like 4 people at once mid combat. im kinda tired of the new AC combat, and wouldnt mind going back to the more arcadey combat for Black Flag. Much more fun than ac unity imo thanks to the guns and other special abilities.

We have very different taste when it comes to combat, i never liked the counter focused combat of previous ac games, the first game and a couple of hours of the secondo one was all i could stomach at the times.

Fancy animations finishers are not something i give much fucks about even if they were pretty good in the old games (and got worse with the new ones)

I like that Capcom games are behind times in many aspects.

Pragmata lunches with older DLSS files, old DLSS FG, old DLSS RR preset... You have to fix everything yourself.

Model B for FG and preset E for RR improve things. Overall, PT in Pragmata is just reaching the best RT games when it comes to quality, not exactly top PT games. Reminds me of AW2 in this aspect.

There should be way more AO in many of those pictures

Still looks good, but game is extremely demanding vs. even PT Cyberpunk (for less quality).

Game Pass price decreased but Call of Duty removed from it day one, new COD games will release a year later. Good. I've always been against Game Pass for so long.

Maybe COD will become more ambitious with graphics & details? We'll see…

Twitter has spoken. Crimson Desert is the 5th best looking open world game to date.

Let's see the top 3.... wait...

1. Kingdom Come Deliverance 2
2. Crimson Desert
3. Assassin's Creed Shadows
4. Horizon Forbidden West
5. Red Dead Redemption 2
6. Death Stranding 2 & Ghost of Yotei

I'm so shocked by this. People really love their very stylish worlds huh? Played Yotei yesterday, it looks very pretty art wise but the technological aspect is so hindered in many areas. 😭

Crimson Desert should be number 1, no doubt!

If we're talking strictly Open Worlds, heres how I predict the gen playing out:

1. GTA 6
2. Witcher 4
3. Crimson Desert
4. Assassin's Creed Shadows/ Black Flag
5. Horizon: Burning Shores

Overall games, by end of gen, I am predicting this:

1. GTA 6
2. Black Myth: Zhong Kui
3. Witcher 4
4. Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet
5. Gears: E Day / Hellblade 2

Crimson Desert has soul. You can see it when the game's lighting glitches out and goes into infrared mode.

Soul everywhere.
Many Gamers nowadays got this false belief or assertion let's say, which is the attribution to graphical limitation or byproducts of it manifesting in ugly artefacts (aliasing, shimmering, ghosting, noise) as "soul", those artefacts seem to coalesce much more with older games in 2010s/2000s/1990s. It's such an insane thought proposition that it makes me question if I am the crazy one around here...What's soul exactly? Is soul something that hinders the developers' visions or the image that they want to deliver?? Is running a game at 4K instead of 1080p soulless? What?

Try Battlefield 4 on PS4 or Crysis 3 on Xbox 360, so much shimmering & aliasing it's absolutely insane! It's gotten exponentially better now, still not perfect though, we got newer problems to solve.

Its something gamers say when they want to put some things down and uplift others , but they have no valid arguments to give, else theyd use em instead.
Everything about Morrowind has already been said like 10 years ago.

Look I am happy people enjoy the game but is there anything actually exceptional about Crimson Desert besides posting screenshots? Just imagine someone putting Avatar in their top 5 of best movies.

the tweet says High FIDELITY.
You'd have to ask the tweeter what he meant by fidelity. Maybe if you understood their definition of fidelity, then you would understand why they structured their list in that way.

Again, on a macro scale, Ghosts looks more realistic than some of the games on that list due to its art direction. You may not agree with that and that's fine.

Looks fantastic in both! Their standard ray tracing solution is definitely more advanced than Capcom's.

The standard RT one looks fantastic. PT one is absurd though.

This makes me salivate for GTA 6 Path Tracing support & maybe even additional Neural Rendering tech support. Rockstar is our last hope. 😱😖🙏

Good list, but I'd love to chuck in RE9 with PT, crazy good looking.

The lamps aren't casting shadows even with PT on, seems to be a weird implementation overall tbh. Artistically it looks worse, very almost green tint versus the warmer darker palette of the non-rt. The previous comparison in this board I thought the same, the more I see of it, the more it looks like a rushed bolt-on instead of something they've properly integrated.

Ghost of Yotei lmaooo
Crimson has very high highs and very low lows though so I don't know where I'd put it. But its highs are above anything we've seen this gen.

These avif are playing at like 1 fps :(
Currently these only run fine on desktop browsers. Mobile phone browsers (or hardware) struggle to play them (maybe because they are struggling to decode them, or might be a bug). I also see the same 1 fps on my iphone chrome. Hopefully the support improves in the future. These avifs can also handle HDR, but most browsers can't. So again, need to wait for better support.

Your post has soul

Look at all the flicker on the ground:

I know we are in a graphics (as opposed to visual) nerds thread, but why looking at your feet when you have such a beautiful and open landscape in front of you ?

Does this even look better than uncharted 4? At least from a set-piece and animation perspective, I don't think so at all.
Effects 100% will. I bet enviroments will mostly too (mainly because of better effects)

Full RT will carry the rest of the game, at least on PC.

The graphics look a generation ahead. There is an insane amount of detail in every level. Not just that one beachhouse like we saw in the U4 epilogue. The lighting especially interior lighting is way better. The airplane setpiece looked insane. I have no idea how you can think it wasnt next gen.
