German police shuts down Darknet child-porn site with 87,000 members

Short answer

there's a genre specifically called "under 15"

and imho anime or not, it's just as fucked
But those "under 15 genre" maid cafes still use legally aged women that are just made to appear younger, correct? This YouTube channel uses actual underage girls that prance around in their bathing suits, sunbathing, and having pillow fight sleepovers that more than likely has a main viewing audience of adult men. This seems much worse.

I'm starting to think there are WAY more pedophiles out there than we truly realize. Like, it could possibly be a fairly high % of the population. The worst thing a pedophile can do is act on their urges and sexually assault children. Fortunately, only a small % of pedophiles do that ( but its still way too big of a number, whatever it is). A much higher % of pedophiles get their fix with child pornography, like this darknet site that was taken down.

However, Daniel Tosh recently did a segment on his show that made me realize the problem is much worse, and there may be an even greater number of pedophiles out there who aren't having sex with children or watching child pornography due to fears of being caught or whatever their reasons may be, BUT they are getting their fix on youtube channels featuring young girls.

I think Daniel Tosh is on to something. No way does a video featuring several unknown girls get the majority of their 100million+ views from kids their age. Youtube, as well as the owner of the channel, get sent viewer age demographic information so they know exactly how old their audience is. I would be shocked if the average viewer age was below 18. More than likely the 35+ age demo is whats getting that channel the most clicks.

While Youtube has spent the last couple of months demonetizing alt-right and offensive content, I really think they should take a hard look at channels like the one Tosh exposed and shutting those down.
Considering that large communities like reddit and 4chan had long been complicit or had very lax moderation policies around users who post illegal and borderline illegal pedophilic content on them, link to such content, or link to sites that have even more lax policies that they take advantage of, yeah, I have no doubt it is far more pervasive on the internet than people imagine.

There are a few Vox videos you can watch but I'm not going to link them.

Pretty much, and it's why everyone needs to do their part not to aid minds that think "I'm one of the good guys for suppressing physical urges by just using videos/photos!".

Indeed. They can justify all they want, but, in the case of irl photos, those videos and pics didn't just materialize from the ether; somebody had to suffer for it to exist. And to request and download them is to say that there is a market for them so why stop with just THESE photos...

In some jurisdictions, the victims who grew up are notified when a pedophile is caught with material of them depicted in sexual acts as children, because there is danger that they could be stalked even as adults.

Her body builder father is serving a 50-year prison term, but that does not provide much comfort. In court filings, the woman described how she suffers from nightmares and panic attacks — mostly because graphic evidence of what he did to her still circulates online.

Some men have even stalked and solicited her after becoming obsessed with the so-called Vicky series.

Pictures and videos from the series have been found in the files of about 2,600 defendants nationwide — including about two dozen cases in Massachusetts — Hepburn’s staff said.

To seek it, to create a demand for it by downloading it is just as bad. There is no normalization of this.

This is every kind of disturbing, fucking hell.

This is just beyond sickening, as a victim of abuse I can honestly say fuck those people that accessed that site.

Exactly, places like 4chan and the dark side of the Internet posted pictures of all kinds of horrible shit just to post it.

It was the exact reason I found it horrifying that anyone would even associate with such a website.

It honestly surprises me that 4chan wasn't shut down. No idea of the situation now, but years ago it seemed like they had a real problem with people posting illegal shit on there.

They'd probably only arrest a handful. And it's usually the ones that have screwed up like in the op by not removing exif data from images etc. By nature tor makes it nearly impossible to track users down even if you claim administrative rights of a website.

It sucks, but these users will just move elsewhere.

Oh gee! You've sussed it! The solution was so easy!

Be disgusted, yes, but to openly suggest these people be killed it's no wonder they operate clandestinely.

And don't forget, it's not actually illegal to be a paedophile. There are many paedophiles yet to commit crimes who may want to seek help. But realistically, what help can they seek?

I mean, I don't know but it seems like whatever it is it isn't sufficient.
What in the actual fuck am I reading, it's not illegal to be a pedophile? WOO LORD

Ehh... I think this is kind of a gray area. There's no thought police, so if the question is "is it illegal to be sexually attracted to children" the answer is going to be no. If you go into a police station and say "I'm a pedophile!" they will probably arrest you on probable cause, search you, search your computer and house, drill into your history, and if they can't find any evidence you've acted on it, then I think they would probably have to let you go. If they find one picture on your computer, you're done for. But no, I don't think it's illegal to think about anything. Like, anything. Maybe I'm wrong?

Pedophile is the term for someone with a fetish for prepubescent children, not necessarily someone who peruses child porn or molests children. It's not illegal to have ANY fetish or thought, just to act on it.

It's important we acknowledge this difference and push the pedophiles who have yet to act on their impulses to seek whatever treatments and therapies exist. This way will protect more children.

And with the replies in this thread, no one would ever, ever, ever take any kind of help afraid of these kind of reactions
