Monster Hunter Tri / Ultimate is probably the first game that comes to mind with really good underwater gameplay/combat.

Are there other games, not just with underwater fighting, but diving and swimming?

Are there some notable mentions of games whose underwater (animations mechanics) sections underrated or overlooked?

Assassins Creed Odyssey unreal swimming, water graphics not the most unique.

I don't think that it's fun, but I'll give GW2 a point for effort.
Water combat has unique abilities for all classes and plays differently, I still think it's boring but they at least tried to make underwater combat in a MMO unique and different.
