Went through his twitter a little and I don't see anything saying he did it on purpose. In the video where he talks he doesn't seem happy about what happened.

tried to concoct some kind of home remedy to help out with an injury and passed out due to painkillers with the dry ice around his hands.

In my heart, nobody should get covered for doing stupid things. Resources are limited. They should be for people who got a bad break or an accident.

But logistically, it's pretty hard to investigate every major event to see the real cause and judge weather the person deserves government help.

Who knows what this guy did. But sounds like he did something stupid and it went overboard.

It's like this:

Person A: Got cancer out of nowhere. Needs help

Person B: Jogging one day, trips and falls breaking his leg

Person C: Streets races at 2:00 am in the morning and crashes into a telephone pole

I don't know about you guys, but Person C getting coverage is giving me a sour face.

Who says that in a situation like this? He looks happy in all those pictures and he says he's staying positive. No wonder people believe this was done on purpose. The stuff in the '90s seems tame compared to the things we see now. A common view among devout Muslims is that the Western world is a decadent one where little is worshipped beyond money and sex.
They are right, but instead of attempting to articulate a moral vision to disabuse such people of this view, many Westerners, such as the guy in the OP, proudly reinforce it.
