I just find it funny to see the rest of the industry scrambling and in complete shambles, with unsustainable operations, large-scale acquisitions of major publishers, bloated and trite AAA productions, trend-chasing mentality, politicization, and the push for money-making schemes like NFTs, live-service garbage, etc., while Nintendo, Japanese to their core, are out here succeeding like never before with literally the weakest hardware on the market and nothing but fun gamey-ass video games. And that's not to knock the Switch hardware; it's still the most functionally unique and fun system on the market and there's a reason why so many people gravitate to it.

Everyone questioned their decision to bail out of the hardware race, but in hindsight, it was a genius move for their business as they saw the writing on the wall: expectations of higher visual fidelity is an unsustainable joke (with diminishing returns) and won't automatically mean success; it also only matters to the most vapid of people. You have other platforms today rushing to port to PC/multiplatform/cloud because their way of business and games are so inflated and unsustainable that their hands are forced. Meanwhile Nintendo can continue to keep their games exclusive while cultivating a tight-knit ecosystem of IPs and community, without needing to depend on live-services, gacha, or other schemes to stay afloat. They can simply focus on the console + premium games business.

+100 million sales with no signs of stopping. Just really goes to show you that none of these buzzwords like "ray-tracing", "teraflops", "cloud", "services" matter. People just want to have simple fun. Sometimes the "old way" is still a viable way.

Meanwhile the competition is spending billions and billions of dollars on acquiring studios and pushing live service garbage, Nintendo with their own first party games and tiny console is doing absolutely crazy numbers."
