Disney Plus reached a new high of 94.9 million subscribers around the world, the company announced in its Q1 2021 earnings report. Hulu now has 39.4 million subscribers, while ESPN Plus has 12.1 million subscribers.

The strong numbers for Disney Plus show a noticeable jump from the 86 million subscribers Disney announced it had reached at its investor day in December 2020. The surge in subscribers likely came from holiday streaming releases of major titles like Pixar’s Soul and the final episodes of The Mandalorian’s second season in December.
Wild. Disney continues making so much money. The marvel and Lucas arts acquisitions have to be some of the best business deals in history.

I’m a subscriber. They definitely need to add more content it they want to keep me, though.

For real.
I came close to unsubscribing after Mandalorian S.2 wrapped up, cause I’m almost certain it’s already peaked, but then damn Wandavision came along and..

Is it good? Wanda and Vision were such boring characters I couldn’t imagine their show being any different

Im not a die hard MCU fan. Pretty casual. I think the show is brilliant. Especially as it develops but probably only if you’re somewhat familiar with the MCU, comics and/or sitcoms of the past.

yeah Ive seen each MCU film and grew up with old sitcoms. I'm just surprised given how bland they were in the movies lol

You can say anything about Disney and it’ll probably be at least partially the truth, but... D+ lacking content? It’s like saying PS2 had a poor library.

Just canceled mine. I have zero interest aside from the 7/10 Mandolorian show that I can binge in a month after it’s all out.
I can see it being useful for having it be a babysitter for the kids.
Trained I just have plex and never missed a disney show yet....

Like movie theaters, I would think going to Disney World is one of those things that won't be all that missed from pre-pandemic days.

"Let's go somewhere where there are way too many people, it's way too hot, it's way too loud, and it's way too expensive"

I'm happy to pay my $2 a week or so for my MCU and Star Wars hit. Their back catalogue is just icing on the cake.

I can understand them not having much content for the first year. Disney is business smart and not stupid like Netflix. No doubt they wanted to ensure their service did well before spending the millions of dollars on shows and movies. Disney are most likely already making profit on Disney+. Meanwhile it took 10 years and a pandemic for Netflix to start making money.

To this day, I'm surprised Disney isn't richer than they currently are. I would have thought they were close to being a trillion dollar company by now.

Not to worry, you're probably right, they just transfer their real profits offshore to tax evade.

No kidding. They’re gonna have to do some super sales to get people back in those covid death traps
The parks have a good amount of people. The wait times for the best rides are over an hour on weekdays. I wouldn’t go on weekends since they have no fast passes unless I’m going for food.

Good for them. Only really used it for Star Wars and a few movies. Can’t stand Marvel shit so that doesn’t sell it for me. Honestly can’t see myself subscribing month after month. Maybe when all the new Star Wars shows are out I’ll go back.

Right now I’m only in it for the Marvel content but somehow the price is low enough that I actually don’t mind paying for literally one or two shows.

Impressive, I actually don't know anyone IRL who subscribes to it. I tried it a couple of months ago when Xbox offered a perk where you could try it for free a month long. Aside from some Nat Geo content there was nothing for me. Not a fan of Pixar, Marvel or Star Wars. I still don't understand why it is a thing when they already have Hulu and I like Hulu much better.

I pay for Netflix, Prime Video and Disney Plus here... the movies I wanna watch are not there...

Streaming was supposed to uninstall QBitTorrent from my computer, what are these companies doing!?

I'm still subscribed to it but there's not really enough content on there to watch regularly. Having all the Simpsons episodes is nice plus some of the NatGeo stuff is good... there really isn't a lot of it.

Right? And the movies come and go, so no sooner than you do find something worth watching, place it on your watchlist, and come back later to see that it is gone. You can't rely on streaming. You have to still buy or "acquire" your own copies to you have it when you want it.

They’re basically the Nintendo of the movie world. They could put out an actual pile of shit and just film it and people would pay to watch it and buy the toys. Just a cash cow.

Sucks for you. They have some pretty awesome shit on there.
Depends what you are in to, I feel like I'd be the same way. Nothing really appeals to me on there. I'm not really in to Superhero films, Star Wars or any of the new shows like WandaVision. I wish I was. I only subscribe to Netflix and that sometimes doesn't feel worth it movie wise.
