So, skimming the video it kinda looks like Bully but magic and you're a nice guy. Is the game good if you don't care about the books, movies or whatever? Good character driven story that doesn't rely on knowing what Potter and gang have done? Excellent gameplay?

See I know you didn't watch the video as within the first two minutes Richard explains that they held off at the request of Warner as they wanted DF to review the game after the most recent patch, and they only sent out a copy after that was submitted.
