Capcom removes DRM Enigma from Resident Evil revelations

Basically any new Capcom game coming out, one would be well advised to wait to buy that.

And for older games it’s worth checking Steam forums to see if any more shenanigans got pushed.

This one game got the BS DRM pulled, for now. But there is like 0 trust ther Capcom won’t try to pull this BS again.

That's actually kinda good news kinda bad news. On one hand, it's gone on this game, which is good. But! - it's still in MH Rise, and with no official announcement from Capcom we don't know if they removed it because of fan feedback or if it was just because it would have cost them too much to fix the individual problems it caused in a decade+ old game.

Wish they'd be a little more transparent about this stuff, as of right now it's a bit of an enigma.

Stop buying there games. Problem solved.
They're one of the very few developers who still make great games. Also some of us bought this particular game on Steam 11 years ago so can hardly be blamed for something Capcom decided to do a decade later.

The most baffling thing about this Enigma DRM being added Resident Evil: Revelations is that the game is over 10 years old now, so anyone who wanted to pirate the game has already taken the steps to do so. For extra irony, consider that the addition of this DRM may have only encouraged people to pirate an earlier version of RR:Rev if they hadn't already.

To explain why this update is including a DLC patch: The "Jill's Samurai Edge + Custom Part 'S.T.A.R.S.' DLC" was inexplicably broken since a patch back in June 2021 and could only be usable by players if they disabled two other weapon DLCs (Jessica's and Parker's) prior to booting the game. Multiple reviews on this DLC's store page on Steam mention this problem, but I also personally experienced this and can verify both the issue and the fix at the time.

So yeah, it's nice that both this DLC that has been broken for years has finally been patched and that this Enigma DRM has been removed from Resident Evil: Revelations, but there's no real reason that this DRM should have ever been added to a game this old and still playable in the first place.
