Headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, Aonic is a group of global gaming companies that includes OtherSide Entertainment, Tiny Roar, BKOM Studios, and more. It invested an initial $35 million in nDreams in March 2022 to receive a minority stake in the company.

“We set up nDreams in 2006, pivoted to focus exclusively on VR games in 2013, and we’re proud of everything we’ve achieved as an independent company,” said nDreams CEO Patrick O’Luanaigh in a press release. “After 18 months of working together, we’re confident we’ve found the right partner in Aonic. This is the right moment to welcome their support to strengthen our position even further, and seize this critical moment for VR and MR.”

Aonic CEO Paul Schempp added, “nDreams has done an unparalleled job bringing some of the biggest VR titles to market, and it was a natural fit for us to welcome them to the Aonic family and provide our studios with the best team when it comes to the VR / MR gaming space. This acquisition is yet another example of Aonic’s commitment to championing mid-sized studios and creating an environment where teams can create fantastic games.”

It doesn't matter at this point since Home is long gone, but...

nDreams used to be a big supporter of PlayStation Home, so a few people might recognize the name from that content. You'd see the nDreams name all the time on PS Home stuff, and they did a notable ARG called Xi within PS Home.

nDreams is a great studio.

They've yet to make a full fledged campaign style game but the VR games they've developed thus far are some of the best on any VR platform.

Synapse is up for VR GOTY at TGA.

I thought nDreams was someone Sony should have bought to feed PSVR2, but maybe it's a "when you already get the milk" situation.

As far as I can think of, nDreams never actually worked for Sony* PlayStation; they made games and products for PS Home and PSVR1/2, but their PlayStation products have all been produced and published either by themselves or other publishers. Even PS Home content, that was an open subplatform and they could put out by themselves without needing to be contracted by Sony outside of the PSN and other developer deals.

(*nDreams did make a Ghostbusters VR game for Sony Pictures Virtual Reality, a side-business of Sony Pictures Entertainment, but that's a different Sony division from Sony Interactive Entertainment and the PlayStation brand.)

  • Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord (VR game for Quest and PSVR2)
  • Synapse (PSVR2)
  • Fracked (PSVR1 and PC VR)
  • Little Cities (Quest)
  • Far Cry VR: Dive into Insanity (VR, but not a home game, this is one of those in-mall "VR experience" games)
  • Phantom: Covert Ops (Quest)
  • Shooty Fruity (Quest, PSVR1, PC VR)
  • The Assembly (PC/PS/Xbox, with VR on PC+PSVR1)
  • Danger Goat (Windows Mixed Reality VR)
  • Gunner (Gear VR)
  • Sky DIEving (PC VR)
  • Perfect [a sim world, including Perfect Beach and maybe other intended environs, but I'm not sure if any others shipped?] (Gear VR and Cardboard)
  • Spirit of Adventure (Facebook app)
  • StreetDance 3D (Facebook app)
  • Xi & Xi Continuum (PS Home)
  • Tons of PS Home content packs (PS Home)
