I polled some people last week, and 99% agree that that Danny Barefoot sucked off a mouse last week.

Unfortunately, I left the results in a hotel room, written in magical ink that block cameras, so just take my social media post as evidence.

So out of the 3400 people polled, how many got the starting question correct? Or was 3400 the final number who got approved?

Just trying to see how many people qualified for his questionnaire.

The field: various race and gender study classrooms across America.

Only idiots would think TLJ is the best. I'd be interested in the viewing numbers on Disney+.

TLJ was awesome, best SW since the OT. Wish Rian Johnson was doing the new one.

TFA now, that was not a very good movie.

I don’t really give a shit about people posting sourceless “data” on social media.

Sample size implies that the 3400 are the ones polled. There is no way they made enough calls to find 3400 who could name the title of every movie.

Is this spose to be some spoof account?

"One of the prequels"

Yeah SW fan here since the OT and so far PT > ST and I didn't even despise TLJ as much as other people did.

"My firm"

So just throw numbers around with no other source other than "my firm Anvil Strategies" with a clear and obvious bias against "white conservative men" that supposedly hate women and minorities from his own tweets.

Mm okay.

Yes, who could question the powerhouse statistical firm Anvil Strategies. People from all over the world know what a household name they are and respect them for upholding the highest standards in their evaluation.

No one would dare question their findings in the highly nuanced field of social media gathered statistics. Their results here are truly the pinnacle of all research, and we should all thank Mr. Barefoot for explaining the whole situation to us so decisively.

Two things:

1) If this can be presented as evidence that it's conservatives and men who dislike The Last Jedi because that's how they've been told to think of it, why doesn't that work in the opposite direction? Why couldn't this also be an example of liberals and women who love the movie because that's how they've been told to think of it?

2) Where was the poll done? Because that would probably make a pretty big difference in the results you'd get from a movie that's been so stupidly politicized.

Because he is sort of central to the plot? I mean if you want to count only raw screen time then Finn probably isn't a major character in TLJ either lol

Finn is there from the start of the film, is integral to one of the sub plots and has a character arc.
Lando is simply a plot device to entrap Han and Leia, he is as much a main character as Wicket is in Return of the Jedi, meaning he is not a main character.
<__<

Anvil Strategies looks to be a one-person shop (more common in political consulting than you might realize.) Probably a kid who was encouraged to set himself up as an LLC instead of being a W2 employee of a campaign, got a deal for some polling capacity that's idle right now, expecting to build a client base for the 2020 cycle, and is looking to build a name for himself.

Imagine not liking The Last Jedi because the jokes werent funny, the story was illogical and it was a
generally poorly thought out mess. Pretty preposterous, I know.

At least the visuals were really good!

Yeah that’s pretty much what everyone already knew.

TLJ only triggered the super right wing trumpers who can’t stand women to do anything besides side rolls. I’m sure a few people didn’t like the story but the emotionality of the back lash and refusal to let it go made it pretty obvious that wasn’t the major issue.

im surprised it’s just white guys though.

If you felt this way I doubt you were one of the people losing their shit about how bad it was over and over on here or other forums. Over time TLJ has definitely worn thin for me and I can totally agree with this. But that’s not what the initial rage was based on.

edit;
To those people saying it’s a one man show that’s literally impossible at a 3400 sample size. He would need a call center to execute that size. Unless it’s just completely made up which seems doubtful.

Don't forget the purple-haired woman in the nightgown. I'm sure they sold plenty of Amilyn Holdo figures.

Wouldn't TFA have received just as big of a backlash if it were really just white men lashing out at women and minority representation? Sure there were people crying about Rey being a Mary Sue or whatever, but it wasn't nearly as polarizing of a film.

ray didn’t become extreme Mary Sue until the 2nd film. First film had her sharing the screen and running around in search of luke.

2nd film Luke turns into a whiny crybaby and establishes Rey as the lead action. First movie was essentially the search for luke and the murder of another character.

She bested Kylo Ren in one-on-one combat despite basically using a Lightsaber for the first time ever! I mean, I honestly didn't care because it's just Star Wars, and I liked her character just fine, but if she was already that capable in TFA, none of her actions in TLJ was grounds for criticism. Rey's capabilities are the last of my concerns when it comes to TLJ.

Director Kyle Newman: You look at The Last Jedi, and honestly, I don't know anybody out here, maybe two people in my life, out of hundreds of people that I've talked to, who liked the movie. All the filmmakers I know that won't talk about it publicly. All the people I know internally, there's all these people that won't, even journalists who gave it positive reviews are like, I do that because I need to maintain my access. Privately, there's a lot of people who really don't like it.

Geeks and Gamers:
So you're saying that the ones who gave it good reviews really are phony reviews.

Newman: 100 percent. I can't name them, but yes, 100 percent.

Would be nice to get an idea of where/who was polled, I can't find anything by this Anvil Strategies company. The idea that they hung up on people who couldn't name all 7 is interesting. TLJ sucked.

Totally not the thread for it but the story was not illogical and wasn't porly thought out. It's themes of failure are pretty strong and well thought out to be honest.

No, because the manbabies Jedi man God known as Luke wasn't ... as they say .... tarnished. It's only when you put Rey next to their Jedi man God that they start crying.

Let's not forget that TFA establishes that she is very experienced with self defence from growing up alone on a shitty planet. And she was losing to Kylo until she started drawing on the power from the force.

Just like the last seasons of GoT, they could have made it work, but the execution was abysmal if you ask me. So much of what happened was just not earned and came across as preposterous.

I mean, the new movies could have started and been set 10 years earlier or so when Luke was still training and happy, so the fans would be happy. IMO, if the story they want to tell is about Rey though, it'd be a wasted movie just like The Phantom Menace.

The problem is I still feel like I know very little about Rey or Kylo or Finn outside of very surface level stuff, because they've spent so much time focusing on the older characters and other dumb shit (Casino planet). I kind of wish the whole thing was set well after the deaths of Luke, Leia, and Han so the new characters could have had their own adventure and story. It feels like we're getting to the final movie and things are just starting to take off for them.

How many calls would you have to make to get 3400 people who can name all 8 films?
It clearly couldn't have been a random sample of the public.
I'd like to see the methodology of this polling.

Oy vey. Another Lucasfilm shill running defense for Queen Kathleen. And 3,400 people? Really? You'll base the general consensus of the quality of a film that a million plus people watched?

Didn't RedLetterMedia's latest Nerd Crew video clue you all in on how these people operate?

Movie heavily featuring political propaganda against white males and conservatism is disliked by white males and conservatives. Unbelievable!

It would be fascinating to read a logical description of what made TLJ a good movie instead of just an attack on anyone who didn't think it was a good movie.
"It's beautifully shot"
"Representation"
"Force Skype/Rey and Ren are made for each other"
"Hermit Luke is the same as Hermit Yoda"
"Phasmaaaaaaa!!!"
"Subverted expectations!"

You can't get a more logical description than that.
TLJ is the fuckin BEST!!

I mean the new characters are really all I liked about the sequel trilogy...I have always liked strong female leads, I usually roll a female in RPGs and shit too, Metroid is my favorite series of all time but maybe my white maleness just is so toxic I can’t see the actual genius in a movie that fucking undid everything that came before it and had a retarded plot that made no sense and the gall to have a dumb casino planet subplot that didn’t matter at all and....

Anyway, yes I’m sure the critics were right. Doofus nazi villains getting marvel humor prank calls is peak Star Wars.

That's what you took away from that sequence and not the fact that bombers relying on gravity to function worked in space??? :messenger_winking:

Oh, that was stupid too...as was Finn's complete regression as a character, the stupid chase sequence in the middle of the movie that felt like every other stupid CGI chase sequence you've ever seen, the fake code breaker guy, the dumb mutiny plot that only existed because there was nothing to do during the slow speed chase because the rebels forgot to fill up the space gas, the light speed kamikaze physics that break every space battle that came before, the lol Snoke's ded didn't see that cumming did u? twist, Luke Skywalker turning into a total shitbag....

People want to roll their eyes at ESB being claimed as the best Star Wars movie, but I can't really think of a single glaring plot hole in that film...it's pretty much perfect. Reintroduces the characters from the last film, they've clearly grown and progressed in their arcs and with their relationships with each other, every action and decision makes sense and is believably consistent in-universe, you can really get a sense of how desperate the fight is because the good guys get their ass kicked (not because they're stupid or ran out of gas, but because they're just outmatched)....gee I wonder why people like that film so much. Also, The Imperial March is the most badass villain theme of all time.

But that's all just a product of muh white maleness.

Even worse than running out of space gas is "falling behind" because of it.
This clearly is a different space they are travelling in than the one we have.
Different physics than what we would expect is almost forgivable.
Almost.

A ruthless space Nazi leader dealing with a prank call like he is one of the three stooges - what the fuck is that shit!
Fuck outta here with that 'subversive' bullshit.
That took me out of the movie straight away.

Look at all the space nazis in the OT...yeah, Darth Vader berates and chokes them to death when he’s mad, but are any of them clowns? Do any of them have the feeling of being completely incompetent morons that somehow rose to the highest ranks of this big bad guy organization?

How does Hux exist? The people that created him make millions and millions...HOW IS HUX A CHARACTER??? How is there a Star Wars character that makes me long for the days of a General Greivous?

Finn was a great character in TFA, one of the best and most capable. TLJ makes him a shitty and insignificant dude. Fans complain. Media: "white men don't like diversity".

Purple hair lady breaks the lore and has propaganda dialog. Fans complain. Media: "white men hate diversity and women equality".

It's the same with Female Ghostbusters, Charlie's Angels, Terminator... stop using white men as an excuse for your failures. The problem is the shitty work, not the audience.
