AMD Radeon 9070XT review thread

There's also Linux Natives Optiscaler Client version but so far it is only picking up my Steam games, works like DLSS Swapper.

I tried it a bit and it seems to be working rather well, you can like import custom ini files and change OptiScaler settings through GUI.

This looks cool.

Does say on the page that "On Linux, only Steam is scanned automatically."

From Fabio video, he says you can add games manually. Gonna try it with some of my Heroic Games Launcher (GOG+Epic) games and see if that works on Linux.

I have The Thaumaturge on GOG, and Blades of Fire on Epic - from what I know I can inject OptiScaler in both so I'm gonna report back after work.

I went with the 9070 XT back in December because it was significantly cheaper than the 5070Ti while basically trading blows with it in non-RT performance, and close enough in RT for me to be ok with it at the price point t.

Only thing that's been annoying is AMD's drivers in Windows have been very hit or miss for me. But FSR4 has been awesome, and the card has done everything I've wanted it to do so far. A very worthy upgrade from my 2080 Super id say.

I got the 9070. But haven't had driver issues?
What problem are you having?

I think they've mostly been solved now?

Main issue o had was Cyberpunk crashing when PT + FSR was turned on with a driver timeout error. One of the April drivers completely fixed that for me.

Also fixed Oblivion crashing when hardware lumen was enabled. Still get random blue lights in oblivion, so hopefully that gets addressed at some point.

I think the only thing I can really complain about now is the lack of Redstone features available in games + Capcom just arbitrarily locking PT off from AMD owners.

Do you have MPO disabled?
Doing this can help prevent crashes, stutters and a few other issues.
It's advisable for AMD and Nvidia.
If you are on Windows 24H2, just run this reg file.

I'll check when I get home. I'm not too sure? I should be on 25H2, unsure if that impacts anything. But I'll give that a go, hopefully it can solve the little stutters I occasionally get in FH6.

For 25H2 thing change:

Method 1: For Windows 11 Version 25H2 and Newer
Recent reports indicate that the traditional OverlayTestMode key is often ignored or removed in the latest Windows builds. Instead, use the DisableOverlays key:

Press Win + R, type regedit, and press Enter.
Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers
Right-click in the right pane, select New > DWORD (32-bit) Value.
Name it DisableOverlays.
Double-click it and set the Value data to 1 (ensure the base is Hexadecimal).
Restart your computer.

I'll give that a shot when I get home.

I spend all day troubleshooting computer issues at work and fixing hardware problems that I just never want to do the tinkering when I'm home lol

I shut my computer down after I'm done for the day. Will see if that's good enough to bypass this issue.

The Gigabyte 9070XT was recently on sale for $630 while most 5070Tis were still in the ~$1000 range. To say AMD has the upper hand in price in an understatement. The only thing that has disappointed me about my 9070XT is the lack of PT support or a PT equivalent. But hopefully that will change soon.

Unless we see some street price magic...
For just 10 bucks less than a 5070, this is DOA
The 5070 is a kneecapped card due to limited vram. 16gb is good for the foreseeable future while 12gb is starting to run on its limits

Not even good for AI because that stuff needs a crap ton of ram

Thr GRE is "Golden Rabbit Edition" right? This is a gimped card for the Chinese market to get around export control stuff?

In the past, these haven't really been marketed in the west. If that's the case here, I can't hold it against AMD just because YouTubers need to create clickbait content. (Nothing against Hardware Unboxed - I like them)

AMD yesterday announced these would now be sold globally, so expect more western outlets to do reviews on it.
The real problem with this card is the price. It just doesn't make sense.

Yes they are probably very low tier binned chips that didn't make the cut.

AMD Radeon RX 9070 GRE Sells Almost Zero Units On Day One At A Major German Retailer.

It appears that the price tag is quite high compared to what it brings to the table, and people are not happy.

Radeon RX 9070 GRE Launch Price Tag of $549 Fails as No One Buys the GPU at This Price in Germany, Reveals Mindfactory Stats

We weren't expecting the Radeon RX 9070 GRE to see huge sales, given its high price point that made it unappealing. However, considering the current high RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT prices, we expected some sales for the RX 9070 GRE. It looks like, despite launching at a price lower than the Radeon RX 9070 according to current market prices, the RX 9070 GRE failed to appease gamers.
