I wish there were no so many covers though, ah well.

For a lot of the covers, the original masters were low quality analog and insufficient for use in the game. I know (for instance) that most of Black Sabbath's early masters were lost, destroyed, or recorded on four-track analog.

Also, some of the songs have guitar segments added or modified to suit the game. Cult of Personality was actually re-recorded by Living Color for the game to added a wailing solo in the middle.

Okay, that is a point, let me rephrase, I wish the Gutiar Hero covers were not so uniformly awful.

I don't expect Rock You Like a Hurricane or Barracuda to sound good, but most of the rest of the "As made famous by" songs I don't really care about. The one I care about the most is totally instrumental so I don't think they can fuck that up.

AlternativeUlster

Absolutely pathetic part deux

I thought the GH2 covers were worse than GH1. To be honest, I really liked the instrumental take on Spanish Castle Magic. Heart-Shaped Box was awful. Free Bird was pretty weak. You Really Got Me was offensively bad.

War Pigs was pretty good, though, so I have faith in Paranoid.

GH2 songs were worse then GH1 and 80's was just terrible. I hope GH3 can really get back whatever was lost after GH1

One of my fav guitar instrumentals. Send the wife and kiddies away, I'm going to burn my house down with the POWER OF ROCK. :lol

3 1/2 weeks go to. This is going to be worse than the Halo 3 wait, but don't tell the hardcore gamer crowd that or I might lose "cred". Heh.

Better tracklist than GH2. Yesssss. This is gonna be so much fun. If online play is actually decent, I might have to buy this for 360.

Ahaha so the "list" was real, sweet. BUBUBU SCOREHERO TOOK IT DOWN

Anyway, a bit OT, but the orange button on my GH guitar is getting "harder" to press, like I'm encountering resistance when I do it, unlike the other buttons. WTF is that all about?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it was taken down from ScoreHero because the admins all signed NDAs specifically regarding the setlist when they were sent out to Neversoft to play the game. The fact they nuked it so quickly only served as confirmation. I don't know why people doubted.

But yeah, awesome, awesome list. It's getting pretty close! Just a few weeks!

hay guys!

3. How is the functionality of the PS3 Les Paul wireless for the older Guitar Hero games (released on PS2)?

Correction: The new PS3 Les Paul wireless controller will NOT work at all with any of the Playstation2 Guitar Hero titles when played on the PS3. We suggest that you keep your PS2 console around to play the older PS2 Guitar Hero games. Using a PS2-to-PS3 USB adapter, GH1 will work on the PS3 using either the SG or the original PS2 wireless guitar.

Would've been nice.

But once I saw those shots of the one MS employee playing some of those songs, I knew I was wrong. (I know the bet was after you posted the screens but I didn't see them till later)

Looking at that thread again, I think I'm going to enjoy this setlist. I just wish I didn't HAVE to co-op to get some of them. And we're at GH3 and still no Soundgarden?

Activision almost got a automatic buy from me with Story of My Life being in there, but it's a cover. :/

My biggest thing, however, is how The Devil Went Down to Georgia will be done. My guess is they make the fiddle guitar, which would irritate me throughly.

At DigitalLife, almost everyone played this or Rock You Like a Hurricane, which was making me hate the game because both of those songs suck and are annoying as hell.

Odd that most of the previously announced songs were originals, yet alot of these newly announced ones are covers. I completely understand having covers for old songs that don't have the master tracks or the tracks are in poor shape, but some of them are quite recent.

Soundgarden has been confirmed for Rock Band. :D

WTF are Nirvana and Foo Fighters not in this game?

Nirvana (the entire Nevermind Album) and Foo fighters are confirmed for Rock Band!

looks like you'll have to get both! Man, I am going to be SO BROKE this year

This really isn't fair. How am I supposed to be in shape for Rock Band if my fingers are going to be broken by the time it comes out?

So many awesome songs, so few disposable digits ...

I prefer Rock Band's (and GH2's) tracklist to GH3's, although it does have some excellent choices. I'll wait until I can get it used (like GH2), as I don't want to reward Red Octane for their business practices.

List looks unbelievable, but has it been determined whether or not the game plays just like Harmonix's Guitar Hero or Frets on Fire? The difference being that instead of an instrument not playing on a mistake or missed fret, it just gets softer. That and the apparent timing issue in the video shown on IGN or whatever site a few months ago. If it plays just like GH2 then HOLY FUCK. But I'm worried about the lack of Harmonix involvement here.
