Question for all the iPad mini owners in this thread, do you think it's a decent replacement for the full size iPad? Is it difficult to see text on most sites using the mini?

I currently have an iPad 3rd gen and was thinking of selling it and buying a retina mini. I use my iPad mainly for web browsing and gaming, and the size/weight of the iPad mini is appealing.

I have a retina mini, and I think it's the perfect size for gaming and reading the web

I'd say it comes down to personal preference. Try one out at an Apple store and see for yourself. I don't feel comfortable with the mini screen, way too small.

Completed Shadow Blade.

I would say it was...average...I'll try to get the two missing stars from third chapter (which was way harder than the previous two).
I enjoyed it but I totally expected some sort of bosses at the very least...and maybe some puzzles.
It was well done tough, even if it lacked a bit of 'soul'.
Controls are very good; as I expected I really hated the time thing.

Anyone here recommends Hero of Many?

Seems interesting (it's an old title I missed back in the days).
Yes. Highly recommended. It's so good and unfortunately overlooked

Hero of Many uses its subdued visuals and otherworldly atmosphere to tell a wordless tale of desperate survival against overwhelming odds and relentless predators. Take the tone and tension of Limbo, the controls of Perfect Cell, mix it with a story of survival, exploration, and physics puzzles and you'd get Hero of Many. Atmosphere is everything here, from the music to the sense of exploring the depths of a weird alien landscape to the unspoken narrative as you struggle to overcome the numerous threats around you. It isn't the most challenging game, but hard puzzles were never intended to be the focus. While the gameplay is great, for me the highlight was the visuals

Sold, thanks :)

Started out Republique, pretty fun. A bit slow gameplay-wise with all the camera switching stopping time, but enjoyable nonetheless.

Anyone got some recommendations for local bluetooth multiplayer games?

Hoplite is insanely good. Well worth the $1.99 -- it's a roguelike, but it feels a lot more like a puzzle/strategy game with light RPG mechanics in the form of character skill upgrades. It's quick and easy to pick up and play, but deep enough with a ton of replayability and options in terms of how you build your character, and it's perfect for mobile play. I've been picking at it today while working, and finally managed to actually "beat" the game by grabbing the fleece on the 16th floor for the very first time.

I'm a little salty about the Republique season pass debacle; I want my 99 cents refunded for buying the season pass, but that's also because I was feeling punchy during the Kickstarter drive and bumped up to spending way more than I should have on my pledge (it was toward the end, when most of GAF was dumping shit on iOS games, and in a rare break of character I felt compelling to Pledge More On Principle, which was a terrible idea). I still haven't even finished Republique, but mostly because it drains my 4S battery something fierce. Game is gorgeous and plays well, but honestly I'd rather play smaller turn-based titles like Hoplite, which I feel fit iPhone significantly better as a platform.

Grabbed Ace Patrol: Pacific Skies during the sale. On an iPhone the UI looks like it was scaled down straight from the iPad version. Everything's freaking tiny, including the text and menu buttons. And it's a shame since you can see how the devs could've implemented larger text and UI elements. The main menu is especially ridiculous with tiny buttons floating on a vast expanse of empty screen real estate.

At least the game itself is playable since you control the camera zoom. Overall, still an excellent strategy game. I'd recommend it especially if you're playing on an iPad.

Yes! Hoplite is bloody fantastic!

Pitta, have you tried it yet? I think you'd enjoy it.

Me and some others have only been praising it over on TA since December. You're late to the party, man! Fantastic tactical roguelike with tons of depth,

Eh I know...but I took a pause in the TBS field for a while, diving into other genres (I strictly play almost just 1 title per time till I complete it, except async).

I'll get the game soon, don't worry.

Thanks for the tips!!!

The only thing I don't like about the iPad Mini after using it for a few weeks is that some things are a little difficult to accurately touch. Things like links, the nav bar in a browser, some of the buttons in the App Store, or closing tabs are hard to do on the first tap because they feel just a little too small for my fingers. To do it accurately I have to touch them with the tiniest corner of my finger and hope it's in the exact right spot. Or I usually just have to tap normally 2-3 times until it registers, haha.

I have a 10in Android Tablet that I still use for videos and movies and I'm enjoying using the Mini for browsing and games mostly.

You Must Build A Boat: The sequel to 10000000 is coming.

You Must Build A Boat is a full-on sequel to 10000000, one that adds a new game layer to the proceedings. Between the puzzle-matching runs, you’ll be exploring a strange land in a choose-your-own-adventure style, collecting resources to build the titular vessel, and capturing monsters and recruiting allies to crew it. You’ll be able to import your save game from 10000000, which will unlock “special benefits”.

You Must Build A Boat (like 10000000 before it) will be a premium-priced game, but because Redwood promised a free update to 10000000 that has now morphed into the sequel, he’s going to be making YMBAB completely free for the first day of release. Don’t worry — I’m not going to let you forget.

Ooh, this sounds nice.

Glyph Quest has just been updated and the new (impossibly hard) quest against the new Dragons is AWESOME.
Also awesome, the new infinite mode with GameCenter ladders.
I highly recommend it....very fun title that gives the best at higher levels when you unlock the tomes (the free part is not that representative of the game imho).

I kind of got addicted to Kingdom Conquest 2 even though i somewhat hate it's wait to play aspects and knowing those who spend a lot of money on the game will be vastly superior to me. Is there any game like this that is actually a game? I know there are tons of other pay to wait resource city building stuff out there and i mostly ignore or delete them right away since i hate these kinds of games, but KC2 manages to have more things going on with allies/very basic dungeons/ruins/towers/land grabs...it does seem to be the better of these types of games that i know of.

Yep, best $2 I've spent this week.

Downloaded something called Kingsturn Underworld RPG. I find it kinda of enjoyable. Early in it. Kinda ugly, but controls okay. A slight mix of Shining Force and Advance Wars.

So I'm in the mood for a good JRPG/RPG. Preferably with a good story. I've got an iPad Mini with Retina so, any recommendations? No FF, or Chrono Trigger. Already played those. I heard Chaos Rings was good, but I'm not sure.

I did just that yesterday.

Between that and GlyphQuest I pratically didn't do anything today.

It was a while since I went to the bathroom at work just to play 'last game'.

I started playing it at 11pm and was up until 1:30am. Didn't make it very far at all in that time, though, which is hilarious.

Glyph Quest has also made me miss my train stop twice in the past week. Bad news...

Admitting we have a problem is the first step to redemption.

FFIV TAY's sale ends tomorrow, for those who want to buy it on sale.
Hopefully FFVI drops when the sale ends...

Hmmmm no problems here but I've read there were problems at least in the USA Appstore yesterday...so maybe it's a temporary thing?

I beat 10000000. I'm glad it has an ending because it's addictive as hell. Endless mode is ok but not as enticing since aside from bettering your score (GC integration would have been nice) it doesn't have the previous progression hooks.

Yeah it is a "once and done" kind of game, but it is certainly hard to put down until you get there. Very much looking forward to the sequel...in a terrified sort of way.

Completed 10000000 again :)
This time I won't delete it...apparently there will be a bonus having the game completed in your device when you start to build a boat.

My life can return to normality.

Unfortunately, I'm hearing that Threes, out tonight has the same kind of addiction.

I know I'm repeating myself but I can't praise enough Glyph Quest.
It's AWESOME, hands down the best match 3 I played since the first Puzzle Quest.
I've never been a 'high score' type of guy but the new endless mode, without any object, is fantastic...you really have to think a lot over 100K.
Elemental powers are nothing new but the gameplay is just perfect between chains, reversal chains and elemental combos.

I need more Game Center friends to compare scores tough!!!
Come and get me!!!!

Did up some potential OP additions in light of tonight's onslaught, each one of these are IMO OP worthy in their own right.
With the exception of The Quest expansion (yes this is a new The Quest expansion!) the App Store links are not yet active, should be soon though).

If you've purchased any of these (or other recent games that are cool and stuff!), impressions! :)

Also Envirobear 2010 got updated for widescreen and iOS 7 support so I threw that in the update spotlight because that game is brilliant.
