Hoplite is insanely good. Well worth the $1.99 -- it's a roguelike, but it feels a lot more like a puzzle/strategy game with light RPG mechanics in the form of character skill upgrades. It's quick and easy to pick up and play, but deep enough with a ton of replayability and options in terms of how you build your character, and it's perfect for mobile play. I've been picking at it today while working, and finally managed to actually "beat" the game by grabbing the fleece on the 16th floor for the very first time.
I'm a little salty about the Republique season pass debacle; I want my 99 cents refunded for buying the season pass, but that's also because I was feeling punchy during the Kickstarter drive and bumped up to spending way more than I should have on my pledge (it was toward the end, when most of GAF was dumping shit on iOS games, and in a rare break of character I felt compelling to Pledge More On Principle, which was a terrible idea). I still haven't even finished Republique, but mostly because it drains my 4S battery something fierce. Game is gorgeous and plays well, but honestly I'd rather play smaller turn-based titles like Hoplite, which I feel fit iPhone significantly better as a platform.
