Other then the price point I never understood the Kinect hate.

Personally I love being able to control my console via voice commands and can see myself using basic movement commands in games now the thing tracks properly.

First tragedy, then farce.
I don't understand how you double the size of the HDD and remove an optical drive and save 100 dollars. Seems like a push at best cost wise.

Even with the pricepoint I don't understand the kinect hate. It's less than the price of two games. I just think they launched with it, and should now try to get the best out of it. It had the cool voice commands, it can be good for new fitness, dancing, singing games, party games. I think they should just focus on making great games.

From what I've heard it sounds like it's a really robust system with a much better build quality than xbox 360, so that's good.

The bolded is pretty much all it is for me (and I suspect a lot of people). To me, Kinect is a pointless peripheral that I would never buy otherwise, so I am not willing to pay a $100 price premium solely for its inclusion.

The kinect hate is because it's not option right now for the Xbox One, you either buy the system with it or don't buy the system.

You find it cool, you find value in it, and you don't mind paying for it, that's great.

I don't find it cool, I don't find value in it, and I don't want to pay for it, it blows that there's no option for me if I just want to play games.

Surely MS would never come out and say that a new cheaper Xbox One was in the works at this stage as that would be sucide, who would buy one now if it was confirmed a cheaper model was around the corner.

I could actually see MS releasing a digital only model at a lower price point though. Surely they would recoup any loss made on the console just from the fact you would have no choice but to buy games directly from the XBL marketplace which surely MS would take a bigger slice of the profit than going through retailers with disc based games wouldn't they?

They are ditching Kinect instead.

Win-Win!

They will ditch kinect right after Nintendo ditches their tablet on the Wii U as in never. The Kinect is the only thing that makes the X1 stand apart from the PS4. Are you guys really saying you are willing to pay the same for a weaker PS4? I highly doubt it.

They need to keep kinect but eat the cost, add more bonuses to X Live, add in some pack in titles or all/some of the above. Them dropping kinect would cost them so much more since they already spent tons in R&D. Kinect isn't going anywhere.

You "save" $100 by ripping off the idiots that buy it with overpriced digital games. Think about it, no trade ins and no discounted games. $60 games all day, every day. It's the original xbone vision.

Bah this article is based on a tweet by greenburg that gaf was already very well aware of.

I wouldn't trust anything that guy says even if I don't believe in the discless SKU personally. I expect a kinectless SKU this year or they eat the cost and price at $400
