So what you are saying is that being a great actor gives you the right to use illegal drugs and dying of it. I am a working citizen so that is my contribution to society. I am not saying that i am a saint. I have used different drugs too but have not died of it.

Just because he was a drug user does not make his passing any less sad. He was a human being, who made mistakes and had his demons, as do we all.

Instead of criticizing the recently deceased, take this time to reflect on the legacy he leaves behind.

Damn well said...

Sad news he was one of my favorite actors. :(

RIP. Though I've seen most of his movies and consider him a top-tier actor who brings something different to all his roles, my favorite will always be him as Ben Stiller's sharting friend from that crappy comedy Along Came Polly. He was hilarious. I'm not going to judge him for what took him out - we all have our vices.

I'm pretty sure nobody in this thread is saying that.

Sober and yet your contribution to society is 1/10000th that his was lol

Tumblr right now is freaking out because of the possible implications his death will have on the filming/production of Mockingjay. I can't even. It makes me sad there's an entire generation who doesn't know of any of his work outside of the Hunger Games movies.

RIP sir, you will be missed.

Think I'll watch Boat That Rocked
My favourite Hoffman film. Of course not his best, but it just is so much fun.

R.I.P.

If those are the last films tied to his name... *sigh*

That's fucking shit.

Brilliant brilliant brilliant actor.

This will sound random but I loved him in Along Came Polly.

Last great thing I remember seeing him in was Ides of March, and he was a simply incredible supporting actor as usual. I always had a lot of respect for him for doing nontraditional and potentially controversial roles, like in Happiness.

Way to start my day =/.

I wonder if they finished filming his parts in the upcoming Hunger Games movies.

Anyway, he was fantastic in The Master. RIP.

I would be happy a younger generation knows who he is.

Most recently, Anderson starred as Plutarch Heavensbee in 2013's number one blockbuster "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire," and is coming up in the sequel "Mockingjay, Part 1," which is in post-production. "Part 2" is currently filming. According to Lionsgate, Hoffman's work was "substantially complete on 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part I' and he had seven days remaining to shoot on 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2.' This tragedy will not affect the films’ scheduled release dates of November 21, 2014 and November 20, 2015, respectively."

Well this sucks. His characters almost always made an impression on me. He really could bring them to life.

Far too soon.

One of the all-time great actors in cinema, gone far too soon, and in such a senseless, wasteful way. I hate this news and find it incredibly depressing.

One of the most formidable character actors that ever lived. You could probably count the others on his level on your hands. Jeez.

So it sounds like it won't affect The Hunger Games too much then. That's good.

Shame he never got to see the final films.
